Also, if a ghost inhabits a living body, according to many experts in supernatural theory, it's not called a zombie, it's called possession. A zombie initially was part of Voodoo tradition from the region once known as Haiti.
Not sure how far into the series you are, but (no spoilers) the continuity from film to film is fairly loose. One of the reasons is that each movie was made through a different company, they didn't have access to clips from previous entries for flashbacks, so they wound up recreating scenes instead and took the opportunity to change things up if they felt like it.
My jaw dropped when I saw this… the original Evil Dead is most definitely the most intense horror movie I’ve ever seen, and I don’t even find the Exorcist scary; a bit gross, but not scary. This one is both super gross and super scary, and SO good; one of the best horror movies ever made period
OH MY GOD YES THIS MOVIE RIGHT HERE holds up sooooo well This was MY childhood horror movie. I friggin LOVE the evil dead series!! I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Been waiting on this franchise! Great reaction, guys. It's an intense movie. BTW, the professor's recording distinctly said "Demons". They aren't ghosts. Keep in mind that this was a shoestring budget film, made by a bunch of college students. The real star is Sam Raimi, who really made a statement with his distinct camera style that became so influential. Evil Dead 2 is such a blast. I hope you keep in mind, that it is intended to be a comedy, where as this one was more of a horror.
I played this at my 8th grade slumber party in the 80’s. Just remember, the special effects are all milk, oatmeal, and corn syrup. This is my fave of all the Evil Dead movies. 😂
When they were doing their breathing exercise after the movie, that would have been a phenomenal time for Tara to finally get her revenge and purge Roxy cause I really think it woulda worked there, lol
I love how you talked about how scary this is. This is arguably one of the movies that changed horror forever. They literally don't make them like this anymore. I don't want to spoil parts 2 and 3, but I am very interested to see how you react to them. Looking forward to it!
Luckily the second and third movies aren't 'horror' movies...they are cross-genre and more comedy than anything else. The newest movie, Evil Dead Rise however...if you found this first movie scary, (which was at the time it came out but really is more a cheesy cult classic than horror now)...that could be rough for you, because it is 100x more intense than this movie.
Fun fact: the movie was originally giving an X rating because of its violence and disturbing content and then got re rated to NC-17 for “substantial graphic horror violence and gore” and the movie is still rated NC-17 to this day! Subsequent home video releases DVD, blu ray etc of the movie have released without a rating. A very intense movie 😂 But the rating is worth it imo! One of the best horror movies of all time!
Yooo shejects and or rejects please inform how evil dead 2 isn't a direct sequel and is a requel because at the time unfortunately they didn't have the rights to their own movie new line cinema made this first one but raimi wasn't able to secure the rights so the 2nd movie was made as a re-quel I hope my message is seen don't want the she-jects confused
Sam Raimi did it amazing with this trilogy (Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness). Great reaction girls!! I cannot wait to join you in the second one!
Thank you Shejects for reacting to Evil Dead, it’s my favorite horror franchise, and thank you for keeping me entertained and sane atm. My house has been destroyed by Hurricane Helene, and this will be a nice distraction from all the chaos ❤️
Oh, you're doing a horror franchise run? I suggest the Phantasm movies, they're like a sister to the Evil Dead franchise, going since 1979 with five entries with mostly the same cast, less patchy than Friday the 13th, and less confusing than Halloween with the branching timelines or Living Dead with all the reboots.
Very curious if you’re going to watch it in Ash order (Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness, Ash vs Evil Dead… followed by Evil Dead (2013) & Evil Dead Rises) or doing all the movies and then jumping into the Ash vs Evil Dead series after. The series is great. Don’t skip it.
Another fun reaction. But is it me...or was anyone else a little frustrated whenever they said ghosts or zombies? I don't expect them to know "Deadites", but it's like they forgot the word "Demons"
i am surprised they think this was the scariest they have seen so far… then again there aren’t really scary movies… don’t worry it doesn’t get scarier with later series imo, especially 3rd one. remakes are just more fun action packed.
Get used to seeing that car....it's in EVERY SINGLE ONE of Sam Raimis movies because....It's his car, its THE biggest star of all of his movies, it still runs, he still drives it. 🤣 It cost something like 370 K after Raimi begged some friends. Iy made it back domestically but crushed it world wide. After that AMAZING success Raimi got a much bigger budget for 2 and then Army of Darkness of course. AoD is so much different than 1 and 2 but you guys are going to have a blast with that one. 2 is more of a remake of 1 than anything just with a bigger budget.
Christ I hadn't even considered the possibility these two would be covering these movies. One of my favourite horror franchises and so ripe for some good reactions. 44:22: Their faces, I can't lmao!!! They're like Rick and Morty freaking out in the car after that crazy battle lololol
My jaw dropped when I saw this… the original Evil Dead is most definitely the most intense horror movie I’ve ever seen, and I don’t even find the Exorcist scary; a bit gross, but not scary. This one is both super gross and super scary, and SO good; one of the best horror movies ever made period
Another one I find comparable is the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre
😅😂(1:41)"Uncut Jews"😅😂OMG!!😅
My pray has been answered by Sheject Evil Dead gets some spotlight
My dad went to High School with Sam Rami and Bruce Campbell!!!
The fact Britain banned this movie at first is comical
OH MY GOD YES
THIS MOVIE RIGHT HERE holds up sooooo well
This was MY childhood horror movie.
"could it be ghosts telling us there's zombies" ......i literally looked up the right and let out an involuntary, hmmm. lmao
I played this at my 8th grade slumber party in the 80’s. Just remember, the special effects are all milk, oatmeal, and corn syrup. This is my fave of all the Evil Dead movies. 😂
The original 20 minute college project that this was based off of used to be able to be seen here on TH-cam.
Yikes. Your parents agreed to that?!
@@76063co2 They had no clue what it was and I was a straight A student. The 80’s were a different time.
I don't know if anyone has said this but this is the movie that Nancy is watching on nightmare on elm Street
It's also the movie Donnie and his gf watch in Donnie Darko (at the theatre)
It’s not zombies it’s demonic possession 😂 it gets confused a lot lol
Or Deadites
The first movie didn’t have any rules so it made sense to get confused, deadites are still confusing anyway lol
It's demonic possession ladies not zombies or ghosts lol
Whatever its still supernatural undead
When they were doing their breathing exercise after the movie, that would have been a phenomenal time for Tara to finally get her revenge and purge Roxy cause I really think it woulda worked there, lol
Yes!!!! Roxy!! Tara!!! EVIL DEAD!!!!!! How can it get it any better!?!?!?!
The third movie is going to blow your MINDS
Anyone else notice how every so often the actors hairstyles change? Lol
I AM SO READY FOR THIS REACTION SERIES! Roxy and Tara horror reactions are my fucking favorite.
You’re going to break our hearts if you start the three season Ash vs The Evil Dead and only do the first season. 😭 I don’t think I could handle that.
Finally watched Evil Dead 💀🔥🔥
I love how you talked about how scary this is. This is arguably one of the movies that changed horror forever. They literally don't make them like this anymore. I don't want to spoil parts 2 and 3, but I am very interested to see how you react to them. Looking forward to it!
Luckily the second and third movies aren't 'horror' movies...they are cross-genre and more comedy than anything else. The newest movie, Evil Dead Rise however...if you found this first movie scary, (which was at the time it came out but really is more a cheesy cult classic than horror now)...that could be rough for you, because it is 100x more intense than this movie.
The movie before dead rise was also horror.
NC-17 didn't exist until 1990.
@@deraykrause4517He said it was later re-rated to NC-17. Which obviously came after that rating was created.
@@Verasoul yep I miss read my bad
But one thing I miss is when people had their own teeth and when scenes were set in night time but we could actually SEE.
Ash “where are the shells?”
Roxy “why?”
Tara “shotgun”
Roxy “oh I thought he meant seashells.” 🤣
Groovy!
Sam Raimi did it amazing with this trilogy (Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness). Great reaction girls!! I cannot wait to join you in the second one!
Tara and Roxy are me about two years ago I got bit by that spooky bug and now I see any movie cuz am not scared anymore
Yay shejects! Keep 'em coming. This is my favorite film of all time and your reaction made it new to me.
Your guys were in the kiddy pool of horror and now welcome to the deep end of the pool
Woot! All we need now is Evil Dead 2 then Army of Darkness!
Thank you Shejects for reacting to Evil Dead, it’s my favorite horror franchise, and thank you for keeping me entertained and sane atm. My house has been destroyed by Hurricane Helene, and this will be a nice distraction from all the chaos ❤️
Been waiting for you guys to start this series for weeks. Glad to see the Shejects officially back.
FYI they arent zombies. The book summons demons. EDII is better than this also.
Bruce Campbell is a movie icon. Also Sam Raimi directing genius.
Great to see the she jects back we missed you Roxy and Tara ❤❤❤. Another brilliant reaction from you both and fair play to ye for sticking with it 👏👏👏
This was Sam raimi coming out party. This movie is a passion project and a instant classic horror film 🎃💯
I'm here for the long sustained woaaaahhhhs!
Not that serious
@@Say0nn. I know. More of a personal nit pick admittedly
Roxy and Tara haven’t watched Evil Dead… Wowzers here we go!
This was filmed near where I live.. Morristown, TN
i am surprised they think this was the scariest they have seen so far… then again there aren’t really scary movies… don’t worry it doesn’t get scarier with later series imo, especially 3rd one. remakes are just more fun action packed.
"GROOVY!"
I'm pretty sure the budget was a handful of nickels and if memory serves it was shot on Super 8. Don't quote me on the latter
Next week, how a soft reboot birthed a horror icon.
Can't wait for 2013 reaction, it's gonna be brutal 🤘
Worst AirB&B no stars
Christ I hadn't even considered the possibility these two would be covering these movies. One of my favourite horror franchises and so ripe for some good reactions.
Always love to support Roxy and I've grown to appreciate Tara through these videos (that's not a backhanded compliment, I just didn't know you before).
