Great riding Jeff to help the engine last longer i would turn the air screw down or right 1/8 to a 1/4, you may need turn it a 1/2 turn down on cold day if your running 50:1 motul 800 with 91 or 93 mix you should also try 1 bigger main the way it is right now. You can also stick with 60:1 it will pull more fuel on stock jets, probably the same air screw but you ride hard and going up a size to 37.5 and 455 should not run rich at 50.1 turn air screw up 1/8 to 1/2 turn. turn idle screw little in or right to help cut off some extra fuel at idle that will help it idle with bigger jetts if you want to stay with pump gas at 50:1. or 37.5 and 455 60:1 u4.4 7.5% oxygen run gas out off carb after and your good half price of mrx02 and will give you a least 2 hp more coming out of the turn just more finicky on limiter with air screw throughout the day and keep a 460 main in your tool kit 6 mill socket hand thread on and off so you never drop a jett on the ground wrench to break loose and tighten a little Another great option is is to run 1:1 c12 to pump at 50:1 turn air screw out or left 1/8 to 1/2 will keep the bike cooler and more consistent power throughout the day ounce you get the jetting/setting you like you still may need to pay with the air screw in the 1/8 to 1/4 or up to a 1/2 depending on the day temp elevation if you get lost on the air screw turn all the way to the right then turn out 1.5 and start from there but hopefully this helps keep ripping!!!
Boy, Jeff really set us up on that one! I thought we were actually gonna see this dude ride like the rest of us mortals and struggle on his 2smoke. Nope. That was probably the fastest laps ever spun at motoX. I'm blown away. Bravo.
40/1 mix will keep the top end from burning up on a track, you may lose a nice smooth idol but that’s ok when trying to protect from the heat of higher RPM. I’m quite familiar with the issue (almost 40 yrs). Keep ripping and being awesome!
32:1 on all high revving bikes for me. 🤷🏼♂️ Still have a good idle. But even if I didn't, I'd still run it. When you're racing the idle doesn't matter anyway
If you want a suggestion on tuning I would suggest going 40:1 and jetting for it. 50:1 is not going to lubricate your top end as well at those high rpm’s as 40:1. Just trying to save you hassle I remember all the build videos on this bike and when it blew up. Best of luck enjoy the 2 stroke 🤘🏻
I have the same bike. 2020 Model. Both the Mikuni, and keihin AirStryker are great with the right jetting. I run 50:1 Amsoil Dominator 50/50 Gas/C12. If you get either, I have some good jetting suggestions if you need some. Heck, if you have one already I probably have the needles/jets and slides for you to try out.
Hey buddy they're is a weird clicking while on the pipe and from what i hear it could be comming from a little loose from your crank or if ur lucky check on your exhaust sleeve??? Top rider my man your getting better every vid that i see u ride skillfull!!!!! 👆🤙
Definitely some detonation going on while at wide open throttle and under significant load (that barely audible and sporadic sound of marbles bouncing around the jug is a dead giveaway). Not sure what insert you're running in the head, but that is either a jetting too lean, timing too advanced, or insufficient octane issue. Sounds pretty good otherwise. I had a 2014 250 SX that was stock besides the 300 kit I installed that would make the exact same noise that ended up being a tad lean and richening up the main slightly cured it. Good luck on getting it sorted, as that can kill those cast pistons quick.
Yea bro, sounds a bit pingy with some detonation off the revs, might want to mix 40/1. Definitely will save that top end. I’d look at jetting with the FMFs too. Try VP T2, it’s already premixed. I use that in both of my T2s. Else-wise damn bro she rips.
Do a national on it with Matty B it'll be sick to hear the fans go nuts with 2strokes racing. Pinging is bad for any engine needs to be richer though the mid top. 🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲
I'm an old school 2 smoke dude. 50:1 is way leaner than I have ever run mine. Is that a phathead thing or a newer KTM thing? 32:1 or 40:1 always in my past. (Now on a 450 myself but gonna pick up another 250 here soon)
Lectrons do not run particularly great. You’ll struggle with pinging or running too fat no real in between. Right now it sounds lean. Also make a note of how you have to work that clutch like your on a 125. That thing seems down on power. I know you’re fast but the bike sounds like it’s underwater, listen to your throttle when you get back in it after chopping. It has a big lean guwap in there. Just try a different carb that takes brass. I prefer a keihin but even the stock mikuni works better than the lectrons. Lectrons are for typically for lazy trail riders who want to ride at 2000ft and then the next day at 10000ft. You’re a racer. Put a real carb in that thing and let her eat. I’ve owned a lot of these ktms and still do own two. They run best imo with a keihin, a high compression head and a thinner base gasket for a basic budget build engine. About .042 on squish. You can get crazy with porting if you want but the stock ports aren’t bad if you move em a little with a base gasket change.
No it’s not. 50:1 is actually more oil for that bike than stock. Stock is 60:1 if you run the motorex oil. If you run castor you’re going to be at 50:1. This isn’t a 1999 cr250.
@@user-mo8tm4jw2l My buddy had an 18 and ran 50:1 with Castor so that makes sense, thought it was the standard Thanks for the correction, Castor smells sooooo good
@@carsongallegos5211 I had an 18 250 before I got my 19 300. It was 60 stock and also castor at 50:1. Your buddy is on point. Understandable to be confused when most 2ts do take 40:1 or 32:1. My 04 kx125 I run on 40:1. I wouldn’t consider running at 50:1. But the ktm is fine that way? Idk. Maybe something to do with materials science progressing. 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Bean oils the best thing since sliced bread it’s all I want to smell 😂😂😂😂
I have been running until 800 for 30 yrs and it is made to be mix at 60 to 1 or even higher. I run it in all brands of 2 smokes and never had a failure.
When you have a newer 2t they’re designed to run a different oil ratio. My 04 kx 125 gets 40:1. My 19 ktm 300 gets 50:1. Stock is 60:1 but when you run castor oil you generally go to50:1.

Bike is WAY too lean on the metering rod. Best thing to do is put a Keihin air striker on it and get rid of the lectron. Also 50:1 is way way too lean. Run 32:1 or at least 40:1 or it won’t last long.
Oh thank Christ someone else besides me who’s screaming get rid of the junk carb and let the bike get proper fueling. Lol. Keihin is win. Especially if you 36/39 taper bore and wing them. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 doesn’t get any better. You’re 200 percent right. Bike is way lean. Big guwaps on on off throttle inputs. Bike sounds underwater and revs slow. Mega lean. However I highly disagree on oil and how long they’ll last. I run 50:1 and I have 185 HARD moto hours on my 300 16.5:1 compression. Straight c12 on 50:1 blendzall castor oil. Vet A 165lbs. I’m hard on stuff and my crank/rod is still the original crank and rod.
Definitely agree the carb is lean, but the new KTM 2-strokes call for 55:1 on the fuel. I was being safe at 50:1. Of course the older 2-strokes need more oil, but the new bikes are quite different
@@JeffWalker84 Well the new bikes are EFI so that’s just what KTM has mapped the engine to run to which I still think is way too lean for a moto in my opinion I’d run that in the woods since you lug it more then. Swap it up on fuel mixture and you’ll get more power out of it and it’ll be a lot easier to ride. If you do decide to get away from Lectron hit Derek Harris up at HP development for an STIC block to go into the keihin airstriker carb. It’ll make a huge difference guaranteed.
