Welcome back to the states brother! Glad to have ya back!! Had my 4Runner in for oil change and alignment at Toyota this morning. Told me the drain plug had no gasket on it and it was leaking oil and there was oil all over my skid plate!! Thanks to a ford dealer where I purchased the truck and they did a “service” when I bought it. Thankfully not much oil was lost and no damage caused, but I texted my salesman to school their techs on Toyota drain plug gaskets. Smh I need a yota tech like you near me!!
Thanks a lot. It was so irritating to see my car hood bounces. By mistake I adjusted the rubber screws upside and that makes the sound too worst. I adjusted as per your video and it perfectly locked now. It is not shaking now ❤.
The rav 4 uses a plastic latch rather then a metal one. Purchased one for my wife the hood wobbling on the highway was concerning so I found out on the rav4 forum about the issue. Rav4 is also infamous with a squeaky back door that can be fixed with electrical tape
I had the hood fly open one day at about 60 kmh, it destroyed the windshield. I saw it bounce a couple of times first, but I didn't get pulled over in time. Since then, I use a rubber bungee strap to keep more tension on the secondary latch.
HUGE help! I've had the same problem, had NO idea those bump stops were sdjustable! Heading to Fargo ND from Grand Forks ND to see my brothers tomorrow after church, no more hood shaking!
Very rare! Most Ravs have the very underpowered four banger! Someone hit something in the front of mine before I owned it and the hood bounces and adjustments make the hood not close. Might need to pull my front out somehow
When I was fifteen, sixteen, when I really started to play guitar I definitely wanted to become a musician It was almost impossible because-it was-the dream was so big That I didn't see any chance because I was living in a little town; was studying And when I finally broke away from school and became a musician I thought, "Well, now I may have a little bit of a chance" Because all I really wanted to do is music
on my 08 the hood outter skin came loose from the inner brace . body addhesive worked. also addjusting the rubber stops with a piece of paper. the paper will start to resess bing pulled out when adjustment is close.
This is not correct unless they were set too low. Those rubber stops are supposed to be adjusted up or down to align the hood flush with the fenders. Sure raising it will take out play, but now the hood could be sitting 1/4" to high from flush. Probably needs a new latch.
I had this problem on my 98 Mercury Marquis. I put in a Nascar hood peg. Drill and pray. Tough to get it right. It also looks very "cool." OH well, I wonder if i could have adjusted the bump stops. I will try and get better bump stop fitment for my race pegs and put on the plate.
I have a 2009 Rav4 V6 Limited. My hood latch is sticking. Sometimes I have to close it harder than I feel it needs to be to get it to lock securely. Should I replace the mechanism or can it be adjusted?
Any other RAV owners notice the hood like this and not able to get closed gently and must be slammed shut? Our Camrys before I could close as easily as closing a passenger door. This Rav seems like it has a truck hood. Very heavy. Also has the truck dual hood prop positions. Lower one and higher service position.

Cool. I also spray some silicone lubricant on the latch mechanism, which helps keep the lever operating smoothly.
