I had no idea about the queer history of Disney and I had absolutely no idea Bob Gurr was gay, I'm a horrible gay Disney adult. Came for the vlogs, stayed for the lessons.

I like how this exhibit did NOT hold back. Like yeah it showcased Disney and all their cool stuff but also wasn’t afraid to speak about the shitty stuff too

You gays are the best, most aware, humble, funny, important people on the Disney fandom. The way y’all read those captions and brought importance to each and every issue while still loving Disney, just give us all hope.

Just returned from a trip to Disneyland and one of the Emporium window displays (near the fire station) is a beautiful Victorian themed Pride window inclusive of a pride flag needle point, pride flowers, and framed photos of Victorian-era lesbians smoochin’. I’ll have to check again for it on my next trip, but it felt permanent - not like something other companies do as a cash grab during Pride month. Also loved how bold they’re being by actually depicting women kissing. They’re not just talking the talk and I love that so much.

I think I like this exhibit even more than the Disney 100. It's a lot more thought provoking. The Disney100 was cool, but a lot more... surficial.

Hey, just wanted to say how much I appreciate this channel. I love your vlog style so much. I look forward to watching each new video!
My husband has been traveling a lot in the past few months and the nights can be a little lonely and unnerving. The companionship of your video catalog has helped me to cope. Keep up the awesome work, Kenny, you rule🎥🩵🌸😺👍(are you the Lynch fan or is it Dan?)

Did a quick search on Albert H. Small and yes his name is Small (but I do feel whoever planned which room they were going to dedicate to him had a great sense of humor lol). Kind of an interesting guy. He was a real estate developer which isn’t the biggest thing about him. His big claim to fame was his love of the arts. He had a giant Declaration of Independence collection which is kinda cool but also he was on like all of the boards of all the museums and art things he could be. When I was reading his obituary (he died in 2021) my eyes started glazing over reading through all the boards he was on lol. His wiki page is wild though. His early life is kinda fleshed out, his career blurb is 3 not so great facts about him, and his philanthropy section is pretty long but not as long as his obituary claims. Also president Obama gave him a national humanities medal which is really cool. Definitely an interesting 10 minutes of research for me lol.

The Mickey Mouse Club debuted on October 3, 1955. The ears were based on the moment in the short, The Karnival Kid, when Mickey "tips" his ears and the top of his head to Minnie.

This video definitely helped me decide to visit this exhibit eventually! I missed it by a month or so but wasn't sure what was in it so thank you! Have you all been to the Jim Henson exhibit in Maryland? I just went recently and it was fantastic, plus they also talk about his connection to Maryland

Haven’t been to the Henson exhibit yet. That’s next on my list.

Re: Song of the South: it's more a case of a flawed attempt at preserving a culture Harris was exposed to growing up, flawed because Harris was still a man of his color and time. The general characters like Br'er Rabbit are actual African American folklore characters, and Harris attempted to replicate the dialect he was told those stories in. Unfortunately, that comes out as racist - at best, it's just cultural appropriation - at best. Reading the book is still useful, if proper historical context is discussed while reading it (IMHO, the same is true for Song of the South - I would love Disney to do like Warners did with the more problematic Looney Tunes and discuss why it is inappropriate and why people used to think otherwise, but that's the part of me interested in cultural history). The fan pin of Br'er Rabbit and Tiana comes off more as Rabbit passing the torch/ride onto her for hopefully a better cultural experience on the revamped ride to me.
Re: Disney and LGBTQIA+: see Defunctland's Videopolis episode for more on the dance ban and court cases to get first homosexual fast and then slow dancing allowed (phrasing thanks to the fast dancing case, no joke).

Not that long ago the Smithsonian put out a call for Disney family photos. I sent in a few family photos of my grandparents and I at Disney world when I was 6. I also sent in photos of my son on his first trip at 2. I had totally forgotten till now lol. I wonder if they made it in

If you guys make a video about the history of Mickey/Minnie ears, you gotta call it “Ears Through the Years”. It’s a necessary evil.

But it still says something that Tiana is still the only black disney princess. I don't count Shuri because she's part of marvel. I want actual full disney princess with a musical with another Black princess. Like can't they use some of the money from Frozen to make another. Or get Moongirl more popular
