Understood that someone needed comforting but didn't understand the resulting emotional response from the crowd. Tried several times to help... wanted to give them all a hug. To young to be preforming to such a huge crowd.

i actually think its vice versa, as I child I didn't care and danced on the street. Then grew up and all harsh critic made me leave dancing. Now I prefer to dance only if no one can see
When you have anxiety but you're the only one in the team that can do a very good presentation with detail (Goodness, welcome my people who also have anxiety)
Sure she cried because of how overwhelming it was to perform in front of a crowd and the noises, but she pulled through. She's going to be a hard worker when she's older because she perseveres well. An example of real bravery for someone that small. What a trooper and an inspiration! Kids are so self-conscious, they will always think you’re laughing at them. If they don’t think what they’re doing is funny, they’ll cry. Cover your laughter with cheers and encouragement

I didn’t bother to say then you would have taught your child to give up when things get scary. This will be something they can say when other things are hard. Remember when you cried but you finished your dance and everyone was cheering.
These children are too young to "feel laughed at" and experience the type of feelings you imply by this situation. That takes perspective and awareness that doesn't develop until later.

I remember being this age and doing dance rehearsals and performances. Kids don’t react like that unless they’re under pressure and afraid of getting in trouble. If you want to be there, even if the audience is overwhelming, you don’t cry on stage and perform through the tears. She’s like two. The “group project” joke is funny, but she’s not actually old enough to understand that. This video is sad :(
Thank you! I was thinking the same thing. To be honest, I had to stop the video for a bit because it felt morbid. There’s a child crying, and then you just hear a bunch of laughter in the background. Imagine being scared and all you get in response is laughter? No comfort at all. I’m not trying to say this is abuse or anything- it just is sad that a child is crying and yet is the only one even completely the choreo. I wonder if she already has pressure placed on her to succeed and/or if she has anxiety surrounding large crowds. Some other comments were saying she is professional and has a “great work ethic” for dancing through her crying. What kind of future are we creating if we think it’s encouraged for kids to continue something that causes them distress? It’s so toxic. There’s a difference in pushing through obstacles and overcoming hardships versus continuing with something that causes mental and physical distress. This video is so sad
I really think she was just scared of the loud sounds. If you notice, she stops crying momentarily before the 2nd song comes on, but seems more scared during the 2nd performance because the audience is constantly clapping and it's a lot louder than the first performance was. She didn't seem particularly scared of the people at first, but when the clapping started up, she went to hide behind one of the other little girls.
Jokes aside adults are clapping to a thing thats torturing someone whatever the reason is. What do these adults want from them at their age to memorize things like literally...are you even adults bcz this thing doesnt make you look like it at all. They have to memorize things all the time in their life for future so let them be at peace atleast in this age but no you all are setting stage to show people the so called choreo you made them learn in whatever way to show their cuteness even if they ball their eyes out on stage, stand still, do nothing. At end of the day its a toddler who cant remember all the stuff let them live at peace atleast and eliminate such type of trend. I know what you mean. My mom signed me up for a stupid musical when I was kid and my music teacher wouldn't let me quit because I was the only child who had a gorgeous voice. That and gave me 2 solos. It was terrible.😑
You shouldn’t laugh. It’s clear that she’s the one who’s had the routine drummed into her so hard that it’s not only sucked all the joy out of performing but the fear of getting it wrong and what happens to her as punishment is causing her to have a break down. I can say I have A good level of intelligence. But it's because I put so much effort and hard work onto everything I do in school. It's mostly about the effort. Not the intelligence. And my teammates put so little effort into it ugh..
Apparently when I was 2 years old I had to learn a poem, my mom forced me to memorize it word by word I spent a lot of time crying And when the day came, I was the only one that remembered the poem But she didn't feel proud, she felt regret for putting me through that at such a young age I hope that child is fine

IKR! I'd take a zero if I knew I didn't have to do report in front of the class. I always wondered how did the other kids did it.. I just couldn't. I was extremely shy. After high school I ran into a classmate & he said I was stuck up.. I told him no I was just too scared to talk to anyone. But after working as a cashier (started @ 19) I began coming out of my 🐚 shell b/c I *had* to say _hello_ to everyone which made me realize it wasn't so difficult afterall.
@olivia o. of course this doesn’t apply to everyone, but I am an introvert and I find that shyness is a symptom of introversion. When I said ‘all’ I didn’t mean it in the literal sense; it was more of a hyperbolic statement. I personally don’t appear like this on the outside giving a public presentation, but this is how I feel on the inside because I don’t like having people’s attention on me for prolonged periods of time, and I’m sure many introverts can relate to that.

I was thinking the same! The level of overwhelm is what hit her in the moment - but she was able to carry on because you let the overwhelm emotion out. I think I used to work that way - still would, but now - cannot allow the emotion side out... adulting hey? Now we hold that side in, and break at home when alone!
this was me in middle school... we had this dance that we were supposed to memorize this dance and when it came time to dance, midway into the performance I looked around and realized I was the only one actually continuing the dance, then I stopped out of embarrassment and confusion

This...right here. I feel so bad for her, but at the same time I'm proud of her for sticking to it, even if she was crying while doing it. When I was a child, I was very much the outgoing one, but now...there are days when she is so relatable that it hurts.

I think it’s sad. I don’t know why people admire it. People become ill by pushing toooo much through their emotions to finish something. She’s a toddler and this is not exactly the foundation I’d want to grow my child on. She’s cute, ya, but she’ll grow up to be an adult. There’s many more years after this one. A reassuring hug would have sufficed as she cried throughout the whole thing.

Despite her tears, remaining on stage shows how brave she really was. Usually kids that age would just refuse to dance and would've hung on tightly to their parents or teacher since it seemed she was afraid to begin with. And yet, she persevered through the tears. Kudos to lil mama! She's going places.

Her parents made her practice this until the wee hours of the morning when her feet were bloody and she fell asleep still practicing. She was traumatized, but knew if she didn’t perform she’d have hell to pay.
This reminds of my daughter when she was about that age. She was doing a dance routine using pompoms, but all the streamers on her pompom started to fall off, and she kept dancing, but she was getting more and more upset, as most of her pompom ended up in a pile on the floor. Finally she ran off the stage. It was so cute but so heartbreaking at the same time. This happened a long time ago, around 1989

As a mother it's not uncomfortable when my kid is sad because I don't want her to have feelings, it's uncomfortable because I have that natural instinct to want her to always be happy and never have to feel sad a moment in her life. Obviously that's not realistic and there will be times when she's sad and I will be able to do nothing about it but that damn sure isn't going to stop me from trying because I'm her mom and I love her more than anything in this world. I wish I had a parent like that when I was growing up. I was sad way more than I needed to be and also scared and angry and hurt.
Actually, it is quite possible to teach a toddler a short dance routine. Normally at least one teacher would be in their sight on or near the stage or in the wings, doing the routine with them but not always. Often there is the one stand out who just owns the stage! (Although it's not usually the one who is crying ... And there's not always one crying, either. 😊)
When it zoomed out and revealed there are more babies on the other side, double the cuteness! That kid will be a good dancer someday. They are all so adorable. 🤣❤

Children are people first, not performers. No small child should be forced to be subjected to this trauma for the entertainment of adults. These children are too young to "feel laughed at" and experience the type of feelings you imply by this situation. That takes perspective and awareness that doesn't develop until later.

I remember being this age and doing dance rehearsals and performances. Kids don’t react like that unless they’re under pressure and afraid of getting in trouble. If you want to be there, even if the audience is overwhelming, you don’t cry on stage and perform through the tears. She’s like two.

To be honest, I had to stop the video for a bit because it felt morbid. There’s a child crying, and then you just hear a bunch of laughter in the background. Imagine being scared and all you get in response is laughter? No comfort at all.
I’m not trying to say this is abuse or anything- it just is sad that a child is crying and yet is the only one even completely the choreo. I wonder if she already has pressure placed on her to succeed and/or if she has anxiety surrounding large crowds.
Some other comments were saying she is professional and has a “great work ethic” for dancing through her crying. What kind of future are we creating if we think it’s encouraged for kids to continue something that causes them distress? It’s so toxic.
There’s a difference in pushing through obstacles and overcoming hardships versus continuing with something that causes mental and physical distress. This video is so sad
I really think she was just scared of the loud sounds. If you notice, she stops crying momentarily before the 2nd song comes on, but seems more scared during the 2nd performance because the audience is constantly clapping and it's a lot louder than the first performance was. She didn't seem particularly scared of the people at first, but when the clapping started up, she went to hide behind one of the other little girls.

I always wondered how did the other kids did it.. I just couldn't. I was extremely shy.
After high school I ran into a classmate & he said I was stuck up.. I told him no I was just too scared to talk to anyone.
But after working as a cashier (started @ 19) I began coming out of my 🐚 shell b/c I *had* to say _hello_ to everyone which made me realize it wasn't so difficult afterall.
@olivia o. of course this doesn’t apply to everyone, but I am an introvert and I find that shyness is a symptom of introversion. When I said ‘all’ I didn’t mean it in the literal sense; it was more of a hyperbolic statement. I personally don’t appear like this on the outside giving a public presentation, but this is how I feel on the inside because I don’t like having people’s attention on me for prolonged periods of time, and I’m sure many introverts can relate to that.

She was doing a dance routine using pompoms, but all the streamers on her pompom started to fall off, and she kept dancing, but she was getting more and more upset, as most of her pompom ended up in a pile on the floor. Finally she ran off the stage. It was so cute but so heartbreaking at the same time. This happened a long time ago, around 1989

As a mother it's not uncomfortable when my kid is sad because I don't want her to have feelings, it's uncomfortable because I have that natural instinct to want her to always be happy and never have to feel sad a moment in her life. Obviously that's not realistic and there will be times when she's sad and I will be able to do nothing about it but that damn sure isn't going to stop me from trying because I'm her mom and I love her more than anything in this world. I wish I had a parent like that when I was growing up. I was sad way more than I needed to be and also scared and angry and hurt.

Normally at least one teacher would be in their sight on or near the stage or in the wings, doing the routine with them but not always. Often there is the one stand out who just owns the stage! (Although it's not usually the one who is crying ... And there's not always one crying, either. 😊)

I relate to this situation, I also barely study but I pass all the same. Isn't that odd?
Children are people first, not performers. No small child should be forced to be subjected to this trauma for the entertainment of adults. The pressure of performing in those countries lead children to unalive themselves as adults or at best lead an unfulfilled life. My heart goes out to these babies.

I am so conflicted about this! Little mama epitomized grace under fire. She was obviously petrified with the sea of faces but like a true champion, proved that the show must go on! She was the whole show. Notice she slowly retreated to the back once she was done. Such a class act❤️
