*Good video:* Lappeenranta is a really nice little city. It is beautiful in the winter as well when Saimaa freezes over.

Linnoitus is a Finnish word for fortress or fortification and not castle. Fortifications from different periods are different.

Watching your videos I have always enjoyed your English pronunciation because it has been so easy for me to understand and still something slightly different to what I am used to.
So the way you pronounce harbour was unexpected for me.
You pronounced it the way that made my brain to recognize "haba", which is a slang word in Finland for something very different 😂.

I like to study nature also. It is interesting to think about how the Earth was many millions of years ago before humans arrived. Are you watching the Olympics? What is your favorite sport? Do you have any favorite Finnish athletes?

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes I am. All Olympians are great but I'm rooting for Novak Djokovic!

We have older populations of creatures than humans still among us. But they are at risk, like Norppa, which can not survive in warmer winters with less snow and ice.
It is so often that immigrants from tropics complain about winter. To be fair, some Finn's also do that. It perhaps helps to be more aware of the ecosystem and some other spices, which are adapted to cold winters and are depending on such weather.
Sure one could say that endemic species will just be replaced with southern spices. But is that actually desirable, since such changes in the past have got names like "great death" and would effect humanity greatly. It would also put northern and southern populations against each other fighting for resources and habitable land, which could easily mean bitter wars and a collapse of the civilization. There already are big problems with the flow of people from Africa and Middle-East to Europe who try to invade without proper immigration process. This could get much worse escalating to more open hostilities on the boarders. It can also as a side effect destroy the old practice of accepting and helping refugees, which seems to be already starting to become a political trend.
