Psalm 11 - The Answer of Faith to the Advice of Fear

  • This psalm records well-intentioned, but faithless advice of David’s friends when he was a fugitive from King Saul. David lifted his eyes to the LORD to find faith in a time of testing. He knew the safest place to stand was in radical trust in God.

If I really valued and understood the blessing it will be to see God's face, I would have an easier time obeying and living a righteous life. These studies and meditation on God's word helps me better understand that blessing.

O Lamb of God, it is your blood that takes away the sin-debt of the world, even of every one who believes on your name. We could not bear the punishment of our sin, nor endure the day of God's wrath against sin. We praise you for your work of love on the cross, where you redeemed us from the curse of the Law. Amen Shalom.

From another inSouth Africa...Thank you for this great exposition. In a night of many without much sleep, i am truly ministered to! A thought i have on His eyelids testing...that's when it SEEMS that God is 'sleeping' (eye lids show when one closes eyes) SEEMINGLY ignoring us. A testing indeed, that if responded to correctly will help us to KNOW Him truly. Truly blessed. Thank you again!

Hello Pastor . Very much getting blessed as you take me through the Psalms. I did find in verses 2 and 3 that Davids friends were more concerned about what would happen to them if David was overcome. I feel Davids friends motives were based in unbelief and self preservation more than anything else, hence their council for David to flee like a bird to the mountains.
I have never gone through the Psalms before in this manner. Thank you for bringing the word of God to the body of Christ in this way

    "God's countenance beholds the upright"
It means, using your illustration about the dark side of the moon, the upright are those who are on the side where there is sunlight.
The one who gets (beholden) the sunlight are those who are on the side where the sunlight shines upon.
Thank you for the enduring words.

Only a man who has never understood how evil the world can be could describe the council of Jobs 3 "friends" as misguided, it was injurious.

I can't believe that the wrath of God was poured out on the Lord Jesus ... which wrath? for what or who? if Jesus bore all of God's wrath on the cross.... then why is God still wrathful???
wrath is not some liquid, it is an ATTRIBUTE of God. and there CANT be blasted on Jesus who IS God!

I don't agree with this interpretation. Too much of the speaker is put into it
