  • Hey everyone! Thanks for tuning in! Here’s a short instrumental using my Seagull strum stick dulcimer. I often neglect this instrument, but it’s a great way to do dulcimer stuff as a upright strumming instrument like a banjo rather than playing traditional, chording lap style. I’ve had it for what seems like years now but I got it right before the lockdown times as I recall. Anyhow, thanks for watching y’all. God bless you and have an awesome Saturday!

Really fine Pat. What is it you're playing, and kind of open tuning. Whatever it is it's magical, and I believe I needed to hear this. Great title too.

Thanks so much Jon! It’s called a “strum stick dulcimer”…which is exactly that…a appalachien dulcimer that plays like a guitar or banjo or whatever, rather than the traditional big boxy tabletop dulcimer. It’s tuned D A DD and the high double D is meant to be a drone while you fret the two single strings. Its a beautiful instrument. Quite limited in application but really fun to mess around on. It’s made by a Canadian luthière called Seagull. They make electric ones too but mines just the basic model. I’m glad you like it 🙂👍

I use the Bible that’s closest to me lol…I grew up reading the original printing of the NIV…lots of folks are negative towards it, but it brought me to salvation, plus I have a bit of a learning disability and I find it very easy and beautifully written to read. I am also always studying the KJV at Church, and I listen to an audio Bible in the NASB, which I find very good as it’s very concise and easy to use as well. But I’m not a translation snob or KJV only person…to me it’s all the Word of God.

@Joe-K-YT , brother…I’m always happy to talk about Jesus and the Bible! Just know that if you believe that Jesus is the son of God the Father and that he died for our sins on the cross, was buried and resurrected on the third day…admit that you’re a sinner, just like everyone and believe that Jesus is that Savior, then you are saved eternally by the grace of God, in dwelt with his Holy Spirit and by absolutely no means can that be taken away from you. No matter what any man says, the Bible says that once you have it, you can never lose it. You are now a child of God. It’s not about being religious, it’s about a personal relationship with Jesus. Nothing will or can save you but believing on the name of Christ Jesus. All our works are filthy rags to God. Nowhere in the Bible does it say “repent of your sins to be given eternal life” the term “repent and believe the gospel” is speaking of changing your mind (meta-noia is Greek for repent, which means to change one’s mind).
I base my faith on what I read in the Bible, not what my pastor (whom I love dearly) says, not by what other men or women tell me and not by any church tradition. Don’t get me wrong…I love my church a great deal, but I feel very solid and blessed in my faith. It’s human to have doubts of it all…we all naturally have a sinful nature and everyone, no matter how righteous they seem, sins every day in thought word and deed. It’s human nature. That’s why we need a Savior! I simply look to see what the Word says. Jesus did it all…there is nothing we can do to add to that. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast”. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Oh man…I’m on a preaching rant lol. Sorry Joe 😂 but yeah…gospel truth brother! People want to make salvation hard, but God made it so easy that a child could understand it and I get excited about it 🙂 as believers we can rest in God’s grace and promises. We get to live a life that glorifies God! We don’t have to, but we should want to be grateful to Jesus for what he did for us, and for giving us his Holy Spirit to reside in us.
I became a Christian as a pre teen, but fell away at age 17 until I was 50, when I decided to re read my Bible with the mind of a grown man rather than a young teenager. I was astounded by it…it 💯 re affirmed my faith, and I’ve been excited for 4 years now.
Not that it’s been easy…I’ve had family turn against me, many of my old “friends” think I’ve cashed in my chips as both an artist and a normal person…it seems like I’m often “checked” by my queer friends, and folks here in town basically disregard me now. I haven’t had an audience at my solo gigs in 6 months…but it’s all good. I’d rather have Jesus than be a cool guy in Peterborough lol.
But yeah…I love my Bibles! I’m about to start reading it cover to cover for the 3rd time in 2 years (I just finished Revelation and am back in Genesis again). Every time I read it, it all makes sense to me more. Anyhow I’ll leave it at that as this is now a 10000 word essay lol. God bless you Joe! 🙏✝️❤️🫵😀👍

@dirtypatwalsh I've had a bumpy ride with God myself and I really appreciate hearing that you've also had a struggle with the Lord as well it is hard sometimes but I just try to have the mindset that someone else has it harder and make sure to appreciate every moment, I also want to thank you for the message you just sent I'm 100% sure I will go to bed tonight as a man who is closer to god than before I read your words!! God bless you too ✝️✝️💙💙
