It’s 2020, and I go back to this song a few times a year. Such a flawless performance which exceeds the original in my opinion. (sorry Joni). There are a small handful of Voice performances I go back to, and this tops the list. James Wolpert has should be a household name. Adam’s reaction was exactly the same as mine. Mesmerized in awe of purity, talent, and emotion of the song. Chills to this day.. thank you James.

It was covered by Madi Davis, Troy Ramey, Rebekah Samarian, and now Addison Agen on The Voice, and Stephanie Gummelt on American Idol, among others submitting it to that show. Granted, others have covered it over the years, notably Diana Krull, even Javier Colon - post Voice, but still, Wolpert's superb version is a big reason for this song''s resurgence.

I've seen this performance back in 2014 (back when it was on The Voice Official TH-cam channel before they removed it along with that season, and surprisingly more seasons onward...) on YT because it was a cover of A Case Of You, and this whole performance blew me away. It was beautiful. And also what struck me was Adams 'look' at 1:27, how he just sits there in pure awe, just like me. That look was emotionally powerful, a very affectionate and loving reaction that for some reason resonates with me even today. And yes I started watching the Voice when it premiered it's 7th season. But this performance to me is still the best.
