Regarding the Barefoot Princess..., well, I´m following her for a couple of years now and she continue to leave me speachless in any and every song she decides to perform. "are you ready inside ?" that, in my opinion, shwos she had been working that aspect with Anjelina..., and this last tip was to give her the emotional stability and support to "go there and give them some jazz"... That is the performance that I saw and I was immediately under her spell. I'm a great lover of jazz and have heard many of icons of that age. Her rendition was spot on Billie Holiday. As I started to follow her I heard an artist on a mission to be able to reach people no matter what "genres" it is they usually listen to.

I was one of those that was watching live and I ofc knew instantly that I had just watched something that just shouldn't be possible. In all the many years I've been following her, I've noticed that she has never shown even the slightest inkling of fear......ever ! Do remember her commenting backstage at NGT, just before her 1st audition, and stated, flat out, she wanted to be a 'superstar' and displayed the confidence in saying that, which had me believing her 'hook, line, and sinker'.
This was the show and the song that Introduced Angelina Jordan to the world. The first time she was seen and heard by everyone (other than family and very few people). From here on out, her voice fully transformed at the speed of light with each song. Seriously.
Her Mum Sara said As long as she wants to sing we will support her, and also be there to put the brakes on..... they have done a wonderful job and surrounded her with love for the whole time... I'm proud of them !!

I know, it's crazy! Physically she was 7 but musically she had years and years of music inside her. Her poise and confidence was off the charts and her soulfulness was already apparent. I'm glad you have been reading the comments because part of the joy listening to her sing 'for us' is to understand 'who she is'. I'm sure by now you have found out why she sings barefoot. She is a very, very special person and this was her introduction to the world. That woman crying backstage was her mother and she feared she would have to share her daughter with all the people in the world. Yep pretty much the beginning in terms of national and international exposure for Angelina..and kudos for mentioning her family who, from what I’ve seen and read, have been exemplary in successfully raising a well rounded and humble prodigy. If you’re not familiar with Billie Holliday’s version , I strongly urge you check it out.,Angelina’s rendition is uncannily similar to Billie Holiday’s and she’s only 7! Nuts really. You should watch the rest of her NGT performances. They get progressively better. She began asking her mother to be in this competition when she was five, but her mom found out she couldn’t compete until she was seven. She had been waiting all that time for this moment, so no, she was not nervous or fearful-just excited. Also, the one judge said she was born to be a star. Her full name is Angelina Jordan Astar!
Regarding fame and celebrity: There are many examples of children who became famous at a young age. Sometimes some of these have had difficulties later in life! Angelina's family wants Angelia to have a normal upbringing and be a child and teenager like everyone else. When Angelina is off from school, she has performed in tons of shows all over the world. Most were charity shows for children. Angelina has lived in several countries and traveled a lot during her upbringing. She is well aware of the different conditions that exist in different countries! Angelina and her family have turned down many who wanted to sign a contract with her. But at 14 yo, she signed on for the Republican record. The condition of this contract is that Angelina and her family decide when it is time to promote her fully.
I never tire of watching reactors the first time they see this performance. Strongly recommend that you watch the next three performances in this contest. For everyone who thinks "why does a 7 year old girl sing a song like that??? " Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Audions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on TH-cam before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Glommy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. " 💯 *AJ* 💯
Even at that young age, the tone and inflection, the timing, carrying the notes to their fullness, completely incredible. People who are not familiar with this song should pull up Billie Holiday singing it to fully understand the significance of what she did at 7 years old.
Enjoyed your reaction very much. Angelina has said that she never gets nervous. Even as a little girl. What’s really incredible about this performance is that this is the first time Angelina had done anything close to this. This is not a kids version of the show either. She was competing against mostly adults and teens. A lot of contestants on other shows like this already kind of have a career started. TH-cam videos, released recordings, local public appearances. As far as we know, by age 7 all Angelina had done was some recording in the studio at her school. Not any professional recordings or public appearances.. This is her real public debut of any kind. And then after her performance when the judge says “Angelina” she calmly responds “Yeah?” Like “can I help you?”
Thank you for your reaction. Never "judge" Angelina's voice with a particular song. Listen to her performed " I who have nothing" in a studio when she was 6 . You will hear her power and a different tone of voice.
You mentioned how she's not nervous. Angelina has never shown a moment of nervousness or stage fright - it's truly amazing. If you haven't seen it already, see the second song in the competition, "I'm a fool to want you." She sings the entire thing acapella! She did do some voice training at a young age. Her full name is Angelina Jordan Astar (no joke about the last name!). If you study the etymology of each word and put it together, her name is literally translated "A little angel (Angelina) dscending (Jordan) from the stars, or heavens (Astar)"! What is interesting is that this audition was at age 7 and she wins at age 8 .. and I swear ... ability doubled in that time. This then was the start really .. I am guessing that the months between this and the win her body developed madly
You see her shyness in this, her first time in front of a large audience. Her second song in this contest she sings acapella and pitch perfect. Then the other two songs in this contest are a bit more produced, each with a musician.

I dare you to just listen to the original Gloomy Sunday by Billie Holliday if you never heard it, and you'll notice how perfect she made it with such ease at the tender age of 7 🤯 To me she mastered Billie's singing voice and inflections. Angelina has occasionally had contact with singing teachers. But not so much to change her self-taught way of singing, but more to learn how to protect her amazing voice. Angelina, 4-5 yo, attended Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, She learned to play piano, guitar etc. She has also learned to arrange music etc. She started singing when she was very young! Since then, she has trained an incredible amount. I have heard that she practiced several hours a day, already at the age of 4-5.
I've been a huge Billie Holiday fan for years, so you can hopefully understand my shock at hearing this and thinking Billie was singing it. It's insane. You listen to both and it simply sounds as if Billie is singing both renditions. It's easy to now understand why Angelina is called a 'vocal chameleon', for she can emulate, not just Billie's voice, but many other A-List singers as well.
I've loved Billie Holiday for decades and, like you, was knocked sideways by this rendition. Billie's voice had a yearning and pain that was shaped by years of abuse yet this little girl picks up her inflections within a day of hearing this song.
Angelina gave an interview to Nadia Neophytou and said, 'I have to say if it wasn't for the unconventional love that came from from Billie Holiday's legendary music, there would not be Angelina Jordan today'. She is multilingual. She speaks English, Norwegian, her maternal Grandpa Japanese, her maternal Grandma Iranian, her father Swedish. There is a video of her in her baby bed eighteen months old singing into a mic. 18 months One of the things I love about this performance is when she is told “the scene is hers” she is ready to go. She signals immediately. Serious. Seven years old and focused on singing.

The contrast between her small cuteness and yet singing the "Hungarian Suicide Song" was emotion producing. The video seems to insinuate that she was the last audition in a long day. Her stamina is impressive to wait for hours and still deliver such a performance!
Not trying to nitpick and I know it wasn't intentional but thought the definition is important. She is not a Savant. Savant usually denotes someone with outstanding skill, while also being in someway mentally disabled. She is 100% Prodigy, and I wouldn't at all be surprised if she's a Genius in mutliple aptitudes, as well has having an incredible high EQ, as is evident by her Empathy, and incredible grace she has displayed since the very beginning.

Check out I who have nothing, at age six which was recorded in one take. I saw that one first and her future was never in doubt. Love her to death, such a humane individual as well.
This competition lasted around 6 months, with 4 different performances. As good as this is, every performance after that was better than the one before, so by the final performance when she sang the jazz standard, Summertime, she produced her 1st Masterpiece level work of art. In the decade since then, she's produced at least another 50 Masterpiece level performances, probably much more since she's been pumping them out left & right lately.
First televised performance but there are a few videos from before... First was age 18 months in her crib singing a Whitney Houston song in tune but a bit muddled since she was still learning English, her second or third language? Age 6, she recorded several studio songs after school, reading and singing in English but conversing in the native Norwegian, listen to I Who Have Nothing channeling Shirley Bassie or Tom Jones.
And to think she was begging her mom a year or two before this of wanting to be on the show! If you actually heard Billie Holiday's version and listen to Angelina's cover, she did one heck of job at her age! The first judge who spoke after Angelina's performance is Omer Bhatti, is a Norwegian rapper and dancer, however, he is most well known as being very close to Michael Jackson and the Jackson family. His mother, Pia, was the nanny to Michael's son, Prince. In an interview, Omer said he played some videos of Angelina to Katherine Jackson, the matriarch of the Jackson family, and she was very impressed by Angelina....
The first judge, is Omer Bathi, who became famous at a young age because of his dancing like Michael Jackson. He really lived with Michael Jackson for a few years. The last lady is a famous singer too, Mia Gundersen. The other two, the young lady and the older man is Lisa Tønne, a actress, and Bjarte Hjelmeland who is also an actor.

Sir, the young judge is Omer Bhatti, protege of Michael Jackson and to this very day a BIG fan and friend of Miss Angelina and Family. We are very sure, that he introduced her to the Jacksons, as they came to her 17th birthday party.
This competition has the feel of the "small town" events I remember from my childhood. Small venue, supportive audience, everyone there to have fun. That makes it feel less intimidating and more accepting for the performers, many of whom have never stood on a stage before (though Angelina had by this time). We need more of this, not the overly hyped and competitive shows broadcast nationally now. This whole atmosphere fits the 50's and 60's feel her music comes from.
My favourite vocalist ever Billy Mackenzie of The Associates did a cover of this song so I know it really well. But I have never seen this version before

Angelina was the last one to perform. Long wait for a 7 year old and she still killed it! 🤗🥳
In all the many years I've been following her, I've noticed that she has
never shown even the slightest inkling of fear......ever ! Do remember
her commenting backstage at NGT, just before her 1st audition, and
stated, flat out, she wanted to be a 'superstar' and displayed the
confidence in saying that, which had me believing her 'hook, line, and
sinker'.
This was the show and the song that Introduced Angelina Jordan to the world. The first time she was seen and heard by everyone (other than family and very few people). From here on out, her voice fully transformed at the speed of light with each song. Seriously.

Her Mum Sara said As long as she wants to sing we will support her, and also be there to put the brakes on..... they have done a wonderful job and surrounded her with love for the whole time... I'm proud of them !!
She gets better with each song. If you want to watch them all, the next is an acapella version of I'm a fool, then she sang Nancy Sinatra's Bang, Bang, and on the finale she sang Summer time.
I know, it's crazy! Physically she was 7 but musically she had years and years of music inside her. Her poise and confidence was off the charts and her soulfulness was already apparent. I'm glad you have been reading the comments because part of the joy listening to her sing 'for us' is to understand 'who she is'. I'm sure by now you have found out why she sings barefoot. She is a very, very special person and this was her introduction to the world. That woman crying backstage was her mother and she feared she would have to share her daughter with all the people in the world. Yep pretty much the beginning in terms of national and international exposure for Angelina..and kudos for mentioning her family who, from what I’ve seen and read, have been exemplary in successfully raising a well rounded and humble prodigy. If you’re not familiar with Billie Holliday’s version , I strongly urge you check it out.,Angelina’s rendition is uncannily similar to Billie Holiday’s and she’s only 7! Nuts really. Btw Angelina knew m I’m sure of it, that the song is about far more than a sad Sunday..
You should watch the rest of her NGT performances. They get progressively better. She began asking her mother to be in this competition when she was five, but her mom found out she couldn’t compete until she was seven. She had been waiting all that time for this moment, so no, she was not nervous or fearful-just excited. Also, the one judge said she was born to be a star. Her full name is Angelina Jordan Astar!
Regarding fame and celebrity: There are many examples of children who became famous at a young age. Sometimes some of these have had difficulties later in life! Angelina's family wants Angelia to have a normal upbringing and be a child and teenager like everyone else. When Angelina is off from school, she has performed in tons of shows all over the world. Most were charity shows for children. Angelina has lived in several countries and traveled a lot during her upbringing. She is well aware of the different conditions that exist in different countries! Angelina and her family have turned down many who wanted to sign a contract with her. But at 14 yo, she signed on for the Republican record. The condition of this contract is that Angelina and her family decide when it is time to promote her fully.
I think her best NGT performance was her last of the 4, SUMMERTIME;) but all were amazing!

Even at that young age, the tone and inflection, the timing, carrying the notes to their fullness, completely incredible. People who are not familiar with this song should pull up Billie Holiday singing it to fully understand the significance of what she did at 7 years old.

Angelina has said that she never gets nervous. Even as a little girl.
What’s really incredible about this performance is that this is the first time Angelina had done anything close to this. This is not a kids version of the show either. She was competing against mostly adults and teens. A lot of contestants on other shows like this already kind of have a career started. TH-cam videos, released recordings, local public appearances. As far as we know, by age 7 all Angelina had done was some recording in the studio at her school. Not any professional recordings or public appearances.. This is her real public debut of any kind. And then after her performance when the judge says “Angelina” she calmly responds “Yeah?” Like “can I help you?”
Thank you for your reaction. Never "judge" Angelina's voice with a particular song. Listen to her performed " I who have nothing" in a studio when she was 6 . You will hear her power and a different tone of voice.
You mentioned how she's not nervous. Angelina has never shown a moment of nervousness or stage fright - it's truly amazing.
If you haven't seen it already, see the second song in the competition, "I'm a fool to want you." She sings the entire thing acapella! She did do some voice training at a young age. Her full name is Angelina Jordan Astar (no joke about the last name!). If you study the etymology of each word and put it together, her name is literally translated "A little angel (Angelina) dscending (Jordan) from the stars, or heavens (Astar)"! Shakespeare wrote, "What's in a name?" Well, there is your answer!

What is interesting is that this audition was at age 7 and she wins at age 8 .. and I swear ... ability doubled in that time. This then was the start really .. I am guessing that the months between this and the win her body developed madly
You see her shyness in this, her first time in front of a large audience. Her second song in this contest she sings acapella and pitch perfect. Then the other two songs in this contest are a bit more produced, each with a musician.

I dare you to just listen to the original Gloomy Sunday by Billie Holliday if you never heard it, and you'll notice how perfect she made it with such ease at the tender age of 7 🤯 To me she mastered Billie's singing voice and inflections. Angelina has occasionally had contact with singing teachers. But not so much to change her self-taught way of singing, but more to learn how to protect her amazing voice. Angelina, 4-5 yo, attended Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, She learned to play piano, guitar etc. She has also learned to arrange music etc. She started singing when she was very young! Since then, she has trained an incredible amount. I have heard that she practiced several hours a day, already at the age of 4-5.
I've been a huge Billie Holiday fan for years, so you can hopefully understand
my shock at hearing this and thinking Billie was singing it. It's insane. You
listen to both and it simply sounds as if Billie is singing both renditions. It's
easy to now understand why Angelina is called a 'vocal chameleon', for she
can emulate, not just Billie's voice, but many other A-List singers as well.
I've loved Billie Holiday for decades and, like you, was knocked sideways by this rendition. Billie's voice had a yearning and pain that was shaped by years of abuse yet this little girl picks up her inflections within a day of hearing this song.
Angelina gave an interview to Nadia Neophytou and said, 'I have to say
if it wasn't for the unconventional love that came from from Billie Holiday's
legendary music, there would not be Angelina Jordan today'. She then
added, 'I am very blessed that her music found me very early.' She has
heard all the greats in music but only Billie is placed alone at the top of her
musical pedestal. All the phrasing, nuance, inflections, breathy- releases,
tone and key changes, as well as going from singing to talking within an

One of the things I love about this performance is when she is told “the scene is hers” she is ready to go. She signals immediately. Serious. Seven years old and focused on singing.

The contrast between her small cuteness and yet singing the "Hungarian Suicide Song" was emotion producing. The video seems to insinuate that she was the last audition in a long day. Her stamina is impressive to wait for hours and still deliver such a performance!
Not trying to nitpick and I know it wasn't intentional but thought the definition is important. She is not a Savant. Savant usually denotes someone with outstanding skill, while also being in someway mentally disabled. She is 100% Prodigy, and I wouldn't at all be surprised if she's a Genius in mutliple aptitudes, as well has having an incredible high EQ, as is evident by her Empathy, and incredible grace she has displayed since the very beginning.

This competition lasted around 6 months, with 4 different performances. As good as this is, every performance after that was better than the one before, so by the final performance when she sang the jazz standard, Summertime, she produced her 1st Masterpiece level work of art. In the decade since then, she's produced at least another 50 Masterpiece level performances, probably much more since she's been pumping them out left & right lately.
First televised performance but there are a few videos from before... First was age 18 months in her crib singing a Whitney Houston song in tune but a bit muddled since she was still learning English, her second or third language? Age 6, she recorded several studio songs after school, reading and singing in English but conversing in the native Norwegian, listen to I Who Have Nothing channeling Shirley Bassie or Tom Jones.
And to think she was begging her mom a year or two before this of wanting to be on the show! If you actually heard Billie Holiday's version and listen to Angelina's cover, she did one heck of job at her age! The first judge who spoke after Angelina's performance is Omer Bhatti, is a Norwegian rapper and dancer, however, he is most well known as being very close to Michael Jackson and the Jackson family. His mother, Pia, was the nanny to Michael's son, Prince. In an interview, Omer said he played some videos of Angelina to Katherine Jackson, the matriarch of the Jackson family, and she was very impressed by Angelina....
The first judge, is Omer Bathi, who became famous at a young age because of his dancing like Michael Jackson. He really lived with Michael Jackson for a few years. The last lady is a famous singer too, Mia Gundersen. The other two, the young lady and the older man is Lisa Tønne, a actress, and Bjarte Hjelmeland who is also an actor.

Sir, the young judge is Omer Bhatti, protege of Michael Jackson and to this very day a BIG fan and friend of Miss Angelina and Family. We are very sure, that he introduced her to the Jacksons, as they came to her 17th birthday party.

This competition has the feel of the "small town" events I remember from my childhood. Small venue, supportive audience, everyone there to have fun. That makes it feel less intimidating and more accepting for the performers, many of whom have never stood on a stage before (though Angelina had by this time). We need more of this, not the overly hyped and competitive shows broadcast nationally now. This whole atmosphere fits the 50's and 60's feel her music comes from.
