Dein Deutsch ist wirklich SOOOO gut!!!! I’m from Germany and worked as a German teacher in the UK and let me tell you German is really hard and the fact you’re still speaking it so fluently considering you haven’t studied it since college is incredible, du kannst stolz auf dich sein. PS Maus is mouse in German, however, we use it as an affectionate nickname so it’s kinda like darling or honey
Quiet German lurker here - I love your German speaking skills, you're really good 😊 Also, what I love about you, is that you're so relatable and funny; I enjoy your content very much! Feels like listening to a friend ❤
Indie books becoming trad-published would be fine if publishers were actually putting the effort into editing and redesigning the books before releasing them. This year a lot of indie books have just been bought and immediately published traditionally (When the moon hatched, dungeon crawler carl, quicksilver) with zero edits and almost no new or an even worse cover.
The reason I found your channel in 2017 was your journal videos. And it was the reason I started journaling like that in 2017 amd still to this day. It's been such an incredible outlet for me. I won't lie, I do miss your journaling content but I understand that it's personal. But thank you for talking about it a little bit here. And thank you for inspiring me so much to journal back in 2017. I appreciate it ❤️ Ps the flip through made me really happy 😊
My favourite thing in the entire world is Gordo actually replying to you like a human! I could sit there and watch an hour long vlog of the cats! ❤ And you of course haha
As someone whos been watching for years and also has ADHD, there's no shame in getting tested! I didn't get diagnosed until after college and all my life I just thought i was "lazy, forgetful, messy" etc etc since it didnt show as hyperactive like it does for people diagnosed younger (usually boys). Something someone told me is that if you know you need to do something but everything in you struggles to get it done, and then you feel horrible for not getting it done, thats not laziness its executive dysfunction. No pressure whatsoever but youre not an imposter or a fake for wanting to get answers for why your brain works the way it does ❤ Edit: as i was typing this i forgot i was making breakfast and almost burnt my eggs so, lol.
Yes, please don't worry about being 'one of those TikTok people'! I was one of the people who commented asking about it on another video, and am also late diagnosed (27). I was SO worried that I was making it all up and that social media had just convinced me I had it. Turns out every single diagnosed ADHD'er I've ever spoken to about it also thought they were making it up - that's literally one of the symptoms of ADHD 😂 And there are more people being diagnosed since it got 'big' on social media, but that's because it meant more people became aware of the 'hidden' symptoms. Not because people are making it up (that's literally what diagnosis is for, lol). If you believe you may have ADHD, then you completely deserve to seek an assessment. It was truly a life changer for me.❤
I absolutely love your Vlogmas. I watched every video on the last one you did before the break and it got me through then and it’s getting me through the last few weeks working now. This needs to be a Christmas tradition until you decide you don’t want to do it anymore. Thanks for making the dark nights of December a little less dark in the UK 🩵
omg your german is so good!! i remember submitting german questions for your last college vlogmas lol time flies! I love all your videos, your channel is so comforting to watch 🥹
I love the idea of reading Little Women together and discussing it. I want to read it for forever and never started it. Also I love your old journaling content and tbh I miss it. It’s really interesting to see how other people journal
also, i found your channel due to your journal videos! i respect your privacy so i understand not sharing all the details of it. i couldn't imagine posting the nitty gritty stuff in mine for everyone to see
My friend spent a couple weeks in Oxford a few months ago and when I tell you I clung to her IG stories! And Iceland! That’s top 2 on my bucket list. The PNW is my favorite place on earth. The Oregon coast is a vacation I take every year and seriously I cry every time I leave. It’s really something special. Washington is gorgeous, too. I’ll help plan your itinerary😂😂
THE GERMAN WAS SO GOOD WHITNEY I'M SO PROUD OF YOU 😭 I'm a german native and currently learning Norwegian which is a challenge haha The Shatter Me series was recently re-released here with the US covers but I have a soft spot for the original german covers 😂
Procrastinating writing journal entries for big moments because you know it’ll take forever, and then continuing to collect mementos for other journal entries is so real. I have a stack of stuff I need to journal before eoy ahahah
When I started taking medications, my mom gave me the advice to (if you can) always take your medicine at night because you will always have something in your stomach so it won’t make you sick. That way you don’t have to worry about eating something in the morning to take medicine. And I’ve always stuck by that! Also with booktok - I agree with you on that. I don’t love most of booktok books that blow up but it has created a lot of new readers which I think is always a good thing to see.
As usual best part of my day. Also can I just say as someone who has been thinking about starting a youtube for a long time you are really inspiring me to just go for it. Your videos are so comfy and cozy and it makes me way less intimidated to actually start a channel
ich liebe es wenn du deutsch sprichst 💕 you sound so cute when you do it. and you did talk a little about the new old tiktok trend of finishing products. maybe you can show us the products you always rebuy and love/recommend. love you whitney 💕✨
That’s really cool the annotations you wanted to make on TTPD. I hope you continue and share since I’m less the analyzing music type and more the strictly enjoying it type
omg gal I’ve been watching you for years and literally it’s because my book bestie found you, sent me the video, and said “b*tch it’s YOU” lmao I promise it’s a compliment!! I am a late diagnosed AuDHD-er and was so hesitant to go on meds/get tested but holy sh*t gal, it has changed my life. Seriously. I often describe my pre-stimmy brain as a pile of ropes that aren’t necessarily knotted but definitely tangled and I have to spend so much time untangling those ropes just to make my brain work. NOW when I take my medicine, my brain feels like I can just spread out that pile of rope (like smoothing out a sheet) and go through my day without having to untangle those ropes every time I need to do something. I know you didn’t ask for advice and please feel free to tell me to stfu but bébé it changed my life.
I’ve seen videos where people teach their cats to jump up on them or jump over their legs (like the person sits and puts their leg up and the cat jumps over it)
repetition and positive reinforcement! sit is the easiest but for high five was i would put the treat in my hand and give it to them if they touched my hand then we slowly built up to do it without the treat. spin was just walking them through the movement and saying the word- they got it in a few days! but they do have to be food motivated otherwise they wont care lol
Gordo and Sharpie are so talented💫 I taught my cat Sadie “up” and “spin” and she refuses to learn anything else lol. But that’s okay, she’s amazing at her two tricks.
I’ve been to Iceland (last year). If you are down for group tours seriously the best is Collette (they are based out of Rhode Island and they specialize in European tours. It’s kind of fast paced but you can cover the country in 10 days - 2 weeks to where if funds/time are limited you will feel like you covered it all and can move on to another country. Yes it’s filled with mostly retired folks but they are from a sampling of all across American and they have great stories because of the long life they have had. Yes it’s expensive but you are given the full tour of each country (often by local professors). My husband and I are in our 50’s and they are mostly in their 60’s but many single folks go and build friendships along the way. We still have a close friendship with this couple we met from Northlake Texas but we’ve met while touring with Collette in Ireland. At least look into it because Iceland was amazing.
I only learned this year that I share the same birthday as Taylor Swift, though I’m a ‘91 baby. Born on Friday the 13th, too, so this is one of the few friday birthdays I’ve celebrated. 🎉 You’re making me want to try reading Little Women again, even though the first time I tried I got so mad at Amy that I immediately gave up. 😅😅
as a yapper and as someone who's also behind in making entries in my own journal, i feel you! 😂 aww gordo and sharpie are so talented! i wish i can teach my cats some tricks too but they just refuse to learn or maybe i'm not a good trainor 😭
If you want to travel closer (if you think you can't make it to Oxford soon) may I recommend visiting the Marion and Wade Center at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL? They have certain furniture owned by C.S. Lewis and sometimes have people give presentations on him and his work. I believe they even have the wardrobe that inspired the books.
I am volunteering my discord services if you want one for if/when you do a patreon. I LOVE making them and customizing the channels and features!!!! Also do you have any 2025 book releases you're looking forward to? And if you could take away 3 songs from the eras set list and choose three to be in their place, what would they be?
I've recently been diagnosed ADHD and when I went in for the assessment, I was so worried that I was just going to come off as "tiktok told me I have this". I think the most important thing for me was preparing to be okay with either outcome, and journalling about symptoms in real time so I had concrete examples.
On aging and it not feeling like Christmas, I feel this so hard. I just turned 24 yet I feel like I’m a million years old 😔 I stopped worrying about it not feeling like Christmas, but my childhood was like the last time I was happy so it’s hard to get excited for the future 😢
if you do make a patreon would u be down to make journal-with-me content? could be a way to make ur way through the box. (I also have a similar box situation of things to journal oops)
Love your journaling! One more motivation for me to get a job is to pay for your patreon. I was wondering how you and Shelby got to be friends, that was cute! Also it would be really fun if you moved where Bonnie lives. Thinking about reading little women too🎉
Super impressive German. It’s so impressive because we (Americans) are in such a huge country and we don’t benefit from being small and having many neighbors where we have opportunity to learn/practice other languages. Seriously the most polyglots live in Switzerland. It’s so small and surrounded by 5 countries given them ample opportunity to practice and when I visited lots of people knew at least three languages. 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
I recommend you watch Lauren Curtis video about her journey with ADHD (is movie length, but worth it), I related so much with everything she was saying, I’m going to talk with my therapist next session about getting tested. It just explains so much about my life and struggles, I just never knew that ADHD was related to “lack of energy”, the incapacity to do simple things, overthinking, I thought it was all about having too much energy and not being able to concentrate (problems that I definitely don’t have). You seem to struggle with the same things, and the girls say that taking medication for it is life changing, so even if you (or I) don’t have it, is worth investigating and making sure. Loving vlogmas, btw 💜
I must agree with my fellow Germans in the comments, your German skills are amazing! Ich bin und bleibe sehr beeindruckt! "Maus" is basically just a term of endearment. Most of my friends call each other "Maus". And if you made it through Shatter Me in German, I'm sure you'll have no problems reading Twilight in German!
I don't know if you're aware but the Bone season by Samantha Shannon is set in Oxford, and she herself studied there! Thought I'd mention it since you said you were interested in it :) I cannot wait for you to watch the movie adaptation of Little women, you're going to absolutely love it and I really hope you'll vlog it and share your thoughts with us!! Also, seeing you tab your copy of Little women made me wonder what your thoughts on annotating are? like actually writing in books besides tabbing? since you like journaling it occurred to me it would be the type of thing maybe you would be into, but I don't think I've seen you write in your books before except maybe Shatter me....
Big fan of journaling content (as a fellow journaler ❤❤). I get the privacy thing though. Most of my flip throughs are covered up by pieces of paper and not interesting at all 😂😂 I’d 100% join your patreon when you’re ready to make one.
Whitney, first of all I absolutely adore you and your content it brings me such joy on my hardest days, I love that you're so beautifully authentically yourself ❤ my question is that are you still friends with Caylan and your other friends from college? Again I love you!! P.s you got me into shatter me!
I have a ? I’m sure you’ve answered this before but I haven’t seen that video lol where you have so I’m gonna ask it and maybe others are wondering can you explain your process as you’re reading - what makes you put a flag on it and what are the different flag colors for and do you make actual notes marginalia (I think that’s a word)? I guess simply put I’m just interested in your reading process and processing. I’m sure part of it is quotations that you find meaningful but but this is something I’ve always wondered. Thank you in advance. Love your Vlogmas and I am hoping for continued daily Vlogs they are great they make my day so much better! p.s. (who doesn’t love a p.s.) love it when you surprise us with playing your ukulele and I enjoyed the journal content! Give your sweet kitties. Hugs for me. See you tomorrow. : )

Journaling crumbs 😭
The flip throughs are never boring.
girl as a german i can tell you that that german part was insane!
oh i wait for this every day!!
omg gordo and sharpie doing tricks for their treats 🥰 best thing i've seen all week.
Whitney I wear the same pajamas for a week sometimes 😃 they still smell clean and beautiful and slay.
A WHITTYNOVELS JOURNAL FLIP THROUGH IN 2024 WHAAAT 😭
How did you and Bonnie meet?
I canttttt, your little giggle when you were talking about chicken nuggets was so cute

Always have my notifications on for you girlie ❤️thanks for blessing us with this 30 minute vlog😭
My library doesn’t do late fees anymore, just charges if you never return the book.

The reason you can't train Gordo to speak is because he already speaks every time you acknowledge him. Like I think he's already trained.
HAHAHHAA true!!!
How did you train your cats? Like spin and sit
repetition and positive reinforcement! sit is the easiest but for high five was i would put the treat in my hand and give it to them if they touched my hand then we slowly built up to do it without the treat. spin was just walking them through the movement and saying the word- they got it in a few days! but they do have to be food motivated otherwise they wont care lol

schwierig is in german "hard" 🥰 I love your German 🤩
maybe I've been convinced to also read Little Women
It's me... I'm the person with the tiktok adhd self diagnosis 😅
That's not something to be proud of

Wisconsin would welcome you with open arms!! It's a great state 😉

"Maus" is basically just a term of endearment. Most of my friends call each other "Maus".
And if you made it through Shatter Me in German, I'm sure you'll have no problems reading Twilight in German!

Hard in the context of reading is "schwer" in german. The book was hard to read = Das Buch war schwer zu lesen.
Schöne Grüße aus Deutschland!
Midol for periods all the way.
