I've been riding a Nomad since 2016 and finally decided to upgrade to a 2020 model. I'm having a hard time choosing between the Nomad and the Megatower. I usually ride in steep technical trail areas with no shuttle or lift access that have features small and large. The Nomad has been a good climber for me all this time so I was tempted to get a bit extra travel and a modern geometry to handicap my downhill skills. But the trend is evidently tending towards bigger tires so the Megatower is a nice option but it keeps pretty much the same travel as my Nomad and I worry it will feel unresponsive since I'm not having an easy time cornering as it is. So...a Nomad vs Hightower review would be great
I lived in Draper for 2 years and am very familiar with the trails, my bike of choice was a Norco Sight (130mm rear suspension) I put a Super Deluxe coil on the rear and I over-forked it with a 150 Lyrik, it was absolutely perfect for Corner Canyon and most of the stuff in PC. If I was still in Draper and looking to buy something new I would grab the Yeti SB130, maybe even the LR version. But I have since moved to San Luis Obispo, CA and much to my surprise the trails here are MUCH rockier than in Utah. So I started looking for a new bike, I have spent a good amount of time on the SB150 and the Megatower, I'm 6' 205 lbs and I ride very aggressively (former BMX Rider), but I like popping off extra credit stuff all day too. I decided to go with the Megatower, I'm not sure if it's because I'm heavier than you guys, but I found it to be much more poppy and playful than the Yeti and just as capable on the rough stuff. The Yeti just feels like a monster truck everywhere all the time, the way I had the Mega set up made it much better for me in the tight stuff and actually made it a really fun bike.
Glad you brought this up Brandon... I talked with Krispy at the GoRide shop in Draper... they're the local Santa Cruz dealer. He's an x-pro down hiller who still rips. He's 125 lbs 5'5" and when I told him the Megatower felt just as big and burly as the Nomad he said he totally agree'd... however, basically every other person in his shop who's ridden the Megatower says it feels more like the Bronson. I guess for smaller riders who arn't as strong or heavy, the mega just feels like a big plow of bike. Very interesting. Suspension was for sure set up right on the mega too... no issue there.
Your description of the lower link SC designs is spot on, in my opinion. Even the Bronson (the smallest in the lineup) has those same characteristics. Absolutely smashes and plows through rock gardens, bottomless on big hits, and super stable. It doesn't really like to pump, boost, or bunny hop though.. It does come to life a bit more the faster you ride, but slower speed jibbing and pumping through corners aren't it's strong suit.
Loved comparison! You guys rip so hard. So envious with being able to ride so many different kinds of bikes on a rad home trails. Could only imagine the perspectives.
I love the way he says “ yeah we just climbed 3000 vertical feet” 🤣 I’m like “ so yeah I just climbed 50 feet on the megatower and it was kinda tiring “ haha 😆 , awesome review as always dude 👍🏽👍🏽🌳
Something that gets brushed over far too often is bike setup. A lot of folks don't realize how 30 minutes of tweaks can make the same bike feel completely different. The Megatower has a lot of possible adjustment, but I'd imagine that most folks never touch them and leave their suspension in stock settings, other than sag.
Yeah. I've been meaning to make a video about this very thing... having set up dozens of bikes, I know right away when somethings a bit off and each suspension platform is just a bit different.
This answers my question on the better quiver killer bike. I'm satisfied with my HTLT but that being said, I'm quite perplexed at what you said about the Megatower climbing better than the Hightower LT.
That lack of pop on the megatower is due to the tune on the RS shock. X2 on the megatower with grip2 damper changes all that up. Low speed compression my friend
WOW ... man what a review ! I felt like I was just chilling in the backyard with you guys talking about these bikes . VERY informative and I really appreciate the amount of knowledge you guys share on the bikes that you test . Hi Jason - wondering when we can expected to see a review from you on the NEW Santa Cruz Hightower. I rely on your reviews since there's not much available to test ride on trails in my area. I would also be interested in how the new Hightower would compare to the Yeti SB130.
Main difference between Santa Cruz and Yeti: if you own an SC people will tell you that you have a nice bike. If you own a Yeti you'll tell everybody you own a nice bike, crossfit style.
I have a 2018 Yeti SB4.5. It’s a really nice bike. And I’m vegan. And I do CrossFit. And I went to Coachella. Ok, the last three internet boasts might have been false...
I don't think I could've gone wrong with either bike but so far I'm glad I went with the Megatower S build. It seemed to represent the best bang for the buck when compared to the SB150. So far I've been doing lots of pedaling with it, including all the punchy climbs to the summit before dropping in on the fun stuff the bike was designed to chew up with the climbing mostly made up of technical, loose rocky stuff with very little fire road type gradients. Yeah, I do think after some time it's a fatiguing bike to a degree, but grateful I kept my Kona hardtail for days where I want more multiplication of my efforts. On tighter, undulating terrain at slower to moderate speeds, the Megatower does feel less willing to change direction and the wheelbase (size L) feels apparent. After adding a 'Gnar Dog' token to the stock shock and running a touch over 30% sag with a touch over 20% sag up front, the bike feels pretty well dialed! Rebound is 3 clicks from full fast out back and 7 from full closed up front. It works for me, but I'm between 205 and 210 fulled kitted. As always, I appreciate your reviews and keep up the sick content!! PS I'd totally have a NEW Ripley as a trail bike...I love my friend's Ripmo and the way the DW link rips pedaling up techy stuff!
Like how capable is the 5010? Would it hold up on four foot drops and rock garden downhills? Or should you just go with the Bronson for those chunkier trail days?
I have a Nomad 4 and a 5010 3. I assume the Bronson would be similar to the Nomad, just slightly less capable on downhill chunk, slightly better pedaling, and a little more playful. The 5010 can handle all of the chunk I ride on the Nomad, but the Nomad just feels more composed. The 5010 is a far better climber and much more playful. All in all, if I had to pick one it would be the 5010. To answer your question, the 5010 is very capable on medium drops and rock gardens, I do use a 140mm Fox 36 on it though. Jumping to the Bronson from the 5010 you are going to get a bit more composure at the expense of lots of efficiency and playfulness.
Chris Johnson I feel like the Bronson is prob more of an in between bike. If they thought by dropping the shock down to the lower linkage they were making another Nomad what would be the point? My gut tells me I’ll prob have a good time on any bike I buy. Is the 5010 more efficient? Probably. But they do still call the Bronson an all mountain/ trail bike. So I have to assume it will do just fine. And I know when I need the extra travel it’s there for me right out of the box.
Demod the mega this weekend and absolutely loved it. Was nice to have your thoughts on the Yeti because i was considering demoing that but i think im going to get the megatower this week
I hope companies will continue to make the 140ish 29ers. I can’t justify a 160mm bike but I like a little more travel than the 120 travel bikes. It will be interesting to see what happens with then next gen Hightower and switchblade.
Bill W. There are rumors that Santa Cruz is working on a new mid travel 29er with the lower link VPP. Also the Evil Offering is 140 and pretty damn bad to the bone.
Yeah, Bill.... don't replace your HT just yet... I've heard something new is on the way from SC... might be right up your alley... although, I think you'd love the new Ripley.. just sayin :)
Another excellent video, great way to compare the bikes with two riders,,,,, like you said SB150 (btw my bike of choice) is a bit better all "arounder" compare to Megatower shuttle monster, can't go wrong days with those modern bikes,,,,,,,, thank you,V!
Shayne, thanks dude... been feeling like my video's are a bit stale and wanted to try something new... it was more time and work but I like it better.... thanks for noticing!
This is what I was thinking, might be setup. X2's have pretty firm compression damping (on top of the support of switch infinity) compared to RS super deluxe and the new "gravity" VPP. Wind off all the compression, soften the spring rate and speed up rebound might make them feel more similar. I am the guy in the armchair though... Great video! Thanks
@@TheNickbb10 True, if you slow down a bit the Slow and high speed rebound and add couple of clicks of slow speed compression, the yeti doesn't bounce at all. But I like it with a bit of bouncing on the yeti as it clears absolutely everything.
I understand the Yeti needs to be pushed harder, because of the design of their bikes so that was what took the Yeti's of of my short list, but damn they are gorgeous bikes
Hi Jason, Had anyone you ride with tried SB 150 with a 160 fork upfront instead of 170 it would give it a 65 DHA, improve a little the climbing, but not take anything away from the descending ! & Maybe a little more poppy in the corners ! Your thoughts !! Great demo between the 2 👍😎🚵🌲🌲
Great vid. Shuttling with a Megatower? No! Depends what your riding up to. If you need that much bike to go down, it is an amazing bike to climb up with.
You should try out a hard tail, and give us a review on it, like the ibis dv9 or Santa Cruz chameleon. I would appreciate that. Really respect your reviews!
My 170mm travel bike is heavy at 36lb and thats good for a 50km 2000m climb day in the UK , The Megaplower i demoed climbed like a scaled squirral , can wait 9 days for me to arrive :)
I've owned both and honestly feel the SB is a much better climber, and also feel like the SB soaks up the bumps much better than the MT. I ride the same type of trails you guys were on with some smash/gnarly stuff and preferred the SB (sold the MT). However the new HT is awesome, but a different bike all around.
Eric, what sizes where your bikes? as it does matter in trail feel. i'm torn between the sb and the mt, but also sizing wize, the sb would no question be a medium, but if i would go megatower, i am not sure. i'm 1.74m so right in between sizes
I have a question for you, in your mind comparing the Yeti 150 vs the previous Santa Cruz Hightower LT vs the previous Bronson vs the Ibis HD4 vs ? Pivot? GT? Rocky M? How/what would you rate the previous (2018/9) Hightower LT in the grand scheme of things? Thanks Jason
If the Mega climbs better than the Hightower LT than its a great climber in my opinion. I was really impressed with the climbing of the LT X0 build with carbon wheels when I demoed it.
Great review...a lot of chat about bottomless feel on the SC, but isn't that the point of infinity on the Yeti? Presumably you weren't bottoming out on the Yeti either?
Right. I never bottomed out the Yeti or the Santa Cruz.... the reference to "bottomless feel" on the Megatower is really us saying, the end of the stroke in the shock feels really good. The dampening feeling toward the end of the travel is smooth and the ramp up in dampening is smooth and not harsh feeling at all. I guess we're talking about how santa cruz built this bike and suspension platform to really ramp up toward the end of the stroke in a really rad way!
I believe the Jeffsy may not be in this category just due to travel. These two bikes are solidly in the Enduro category while the Jeffsy is in the trail bike section. The Capra probably would be more of a comparable model to these bike, but I'm no expert.
I ride a SB150 on everything. I pedal it around 3 times a week. I bought it because I like to hit steep and gnarly trails, but a SB150 isn't really that much bike to pedal up a hill. It climbs great, and 30lbs isn't really a heavy bike.
Just got a megatower the other day, it's like a lifted Denali truck just runs over everything yet more than tolerable climbing single track up in the new england mountains... And I'm still in the "low" setting.
I demoed both bikes. Ultimately bought YETI... Because I thought it climbed better, and slightly more agile descending. Also it is more beautiful ;)... I love my Yeti, such a ridiculous bike, so stable on crazy terrain. And it climb technical really well! Always traction and no pedal bob, with fully open shock.. But The Megatower also great. Really, both excellent
Nice head to head. Curious on your take with the Trek Slash 8. I’ve been interested in riding 150-160mm bikes, currently on an Epic. Fuel Ex or Stumpy ST is plenty for most of AZ though.
I've not had the chance to ride the Slash... in the Fuel EX and Stumpjumper ST category, for sure look up the Ibis Ripley, Pivot Trail 429 and Giant Trance 29.... all very good options with the Ripley being my favorite. Good luck!
MTB yumyum Also, considering you like the short travel 29er’s, the Top Fuel is now a 115/120mm set up. I’d like to see how it would fair on Jacobs Ladder!
I see a lot of people that buy long travel bike do not use them for the type of riding that they shine on, consequently you do see a fair number of nearly new low use megatowers come up for sale. Long travel bikes on flow trails can be a bit like driving an old Cadillac on a winding road. Yeah they can do it but it is not the most engaging ride out there.
Did you have the chain stay flip chip on the long or short setting with the SC? Maybe in the short setting would have made the SC more playful and pump better through turns.
Hey yumyum, what are your opinions on the recent rework of lower Rush trail? I think that the designers really forgot what made Rush so great and they're dumbing it down while also making it less rewarding to ride. Rush has always been about finding flow on the trail yourself and minimal jumps, but it feels to me like the builders now just throw in jumps wherever they feel like it, and make it wider to accommodate. I liked the jumps that Rush has always had, where they're just little *optional* whollies, but the new stuff really forces you to commit; the tabletops are poorly integrated and the lips on some of the jumps are downright uncomfortable, especially the new stepdowns at lower rush. If I wanted that experience I'd ride levitate or vertigo, but rush has always been unique. What's your opinion (as a rider much better than me)?
Yeah, I can see where you're coming from... I love lower rush. It's always been a favorite of mine. The section where creek view use to be now lime light has a different feel to it. You also have to work with what you have and that's a very sand section of terrain. It also ride along the hill side without a lot of space to create real good flow. I dont' love it but it's better than riding the fire road down. I also like the jumps though so I might find the trail more interesting... a couple of the doubles are pretty big though with sandy washed out landing.... yikes!
Coming to Park City in a few weeks. Any trails you recommend I should absolutely hit. I might have to make the drive to ride these infamous Corner Canyon trails as well.
Can you elaborate on the comment you made about the coil shock on the megatower? I’m looking hard at both the coil and air shock options and at my weight (225) I’m leaning towards the coil.
I don't have a lot of experience riding oil shocks. It's my understanding it will give you a more "stuck to the ground" "planted" feeling. It's also heavier. Sorry I can't be more help. Good luck! Call the guys over at GoRide #801-474-0082 and talk to Krispy.... pro down hill rider that knows his stuff... tell him you came over from yumyum and he'll take good care of you!
When in doubt, choose air. It's much easier/cheaper to add or remove a few PSI than to swap out a coil. That said, the Megatower with its progressive rear end lends itself well to a coil.
would the back end on the S C not be down to set up or shock spec are the shocks the same ? i would like to see the same shock and forks switched from bike to bike and then see whats what
Interestingly enough I feel like the sb5.5 is right between the sb150 and ripmo. That sb5.5 was an incredible bike for sure! sb150 feels like that bigger more stable bike
I have a v4 nomad and have been temped to go sb150 or megatron! Looks like I’ve made my choice sb150 in yeti blue me thinks. Cause lets be real. Everyone rides more trail then they think
Just had a madien ride of my sb150 on the weekend. Took me a little while to custom build it up. Man! What a bike! I came from nomad v4 and man does the yeti peddal! Super stable bike. Anyhow yr review really helped me make my decision to change bikes. I also agree that the bike is very confidant inspiring and super stable. Thanks for the great reviews and honest ones! Awesome stuff!
How much does adjusting the geometry via flip chip and the chain stay length on the megatower does it help its versatility and bulkiness? I've never been on one.
Hi, what wheels and tires got Tiler on his Yeti sb150? Can you tell me his suspension setup please ? because i ride on very similar terrain just can't get the right setup. Thank you
Not good lol, giant trance x is a nice entry level bike but these bikes are the real deal. If you want to ride fast on steep gnarly trails and possibly buy some jumps then you’ll want more bike than the giant. My first real bikes were giants though so they’re great starting bikes!
Sweet reviews your sending out but you should really review some European ,UK bikes instead of the same brands but different models . Mix things up a little
That's funny... I literally felt the opposite about the SB150 vs the Megatower. The SB150 felt like a big dumb couch that was always too long and too soft unless you were going balls out and the Megatower felt much quicker, more lively, more poppy, and a much better climber. So I bought a Megatower. It's almost like we have different riding styles...
Haha so basically both are mountain man bikes! I'm loving my 150 so far, coming off a first gen Bronson, cant wait to start hitting the big shit in the Sierra.
The sb130 doesn't give you a whole lot of cush on the down hill... I would look to the new Ibis Ripmo V2 that just came out... gives you almost all the stability and confidence of the SB150 but climbs better and more fun anytime you're not absolutely sending it. Good luck! Call the guys at Salt Cycles in Sandy Utah... I know they have left over sb150's if you go that direction and they also have the new Ibis Ripmo in stock now~!
It's starting to sound to me like it's an 'Either-or' option. Either you get a bike that's *FUN* or you get a bike that's *FAST* Seems this new longer, lower, slacker paradigm is robbing the fun from the technical and turning it into a churning blender of ever higher speed - where the new prime directive is get it done as FAST as possible, fly down that trail, who cares how you got to the top, but I'm wanting what I had back in the old school Iron Horse days - just more of it as in great IN the technical but not ABOVE the technical where I don't even feel it anymore. I want maximum FUN FACTOR even if that means I'm last back to the truck. There's a couple videos you did, Jason, where you're like ready to start *dancing* because you had such a great time on the bike, others you seem to like but your high exuberance isn't there and I'm wondering if it was just a good day for you or if it was the bike you were on providing more of that crisp handling FUN FACTOR that I'M looking for? Maybe I should be watching *XC bike* videos instead of *Trail bike* vids
Thanks for weighing in! Yeah, I would say what I'm experiencing is more a factor of finding a bike that best matches the trails most people ride. For many people, the sb150 and Megatower are just to much bike for the trails they ride most of the time. I sort of always have that in mind when reviewing a bike. There are plenty of really great bike out there with incredible fun factory or "smile factor" but you're right, some bikes just come to life more for me than others.
@@mtbyumyum OK (and without meaning to slap any other companies down) what would be the bike you'd reach for if you were going on a 1-year world-wide MTB trail riding tour?
I guess it would depend on the trails I'd be riding most of the time. Give a wide verity of trails, I'd have to go with the Ibis Ripley or Rocky Mountain Instinct.... if the trails demanded a little more bike, I'd go for the Ibis Ripmo
@@mtbyumyum I am still riding my 2018 Instinct. Dude, I am so glad to see you still feel this way! I am getting ready to upgrade to the Fox 36 150 mm fork. Thanks for the great reviews.
What about body positioning between the two? I imagine the the SB150 requires a more forward and aggressive weighting where as the Mega you can be a little more neutral/relaxed on?
Yeah, I'd say the megatower is the easier bike to ride.... you don't have to pin it to have a good time or ride well. The sb150 loves to have you load up the front of it and just give it the beans!
A nice pair of park/enduro race bikes. Unfortunatly, there will be people who just buy these bikes just because they are "the best/most" - unless they have seen this informative video.
Lock out or unlock the suspension you need!! Go and buy a long travel bike and have a go anywhere machine!! FACTS that I’ve GATHERED FROM 8000 miles on a SPECIALIZED ENDURO !!
wow, 8k on a big bike dude! Good for you... you much be a very strong rider. Yeah, big bikes are so much fun but you definitely feel them under you on the climbs.
The bike is solid and my Ebike conversion went great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Very smooth ride at 30mph with no problems (135 miles ridden so far). The picture is a bit deceiving - there is WAY less space in the center of the frame than it shows. The suspension connection takes up the entire thing. So I needed to attach my battery on the bottom of the frame and my controller on the top. Instructions for assembly were lacking but honestly it wasn't too hard to figure out even though I have very little bike knowledge. Watched some youtube videos on adjusting the disk brakes but that was it. Still, I am loving it and very happy with the purchase.
Really curious how these 2 bikes pair against the new enduro 29...

Nomad vs megatower review please 🙌
both are great bikes, go for your preference, 27.5 or 29er
MTB yumyum yeah I know the Ripley has been looking at me.
I just received my 2019 Yt Jeffsy pro and the thing feels incredible. Will probably over fork it though
Yeah, I still need to figure out a way to ride a YT bike... I've heard good things!
Another excellent video, great way to compare the bikes with two riders,,,,, like you said SB150 (btw my bike of choice) is a bit better all "arounder" compare to Megatower shuttle monster, can't go wrong days with those modern bikes,,,,,,,, thank you,V!
Yeah bud! Thanks!
Dude... This format is 👌🔥🤘🏼
Shayne, thanks dude... been feeling like my video's are a bit stale and wanted to try something new... it was more time and work but I like it better.... thanks for noticing!
Nice to see a vid from you. First I've seen in a while. I like SC bikes better than most, though I've never ridden a Yeti
Yeah dude! So many good bikes out right now!
I believe you had a better suspension setting on the megatower, otherwise there will be no "bouncing you around " on the yeti.
Thanks for the video.. nailed how Yetis tend to feel..
Thanks dude!
I understand the Yeti needs to be pushed harder, because of the design of their bikes so that was what took the Yeti's of of my short list, but damn they are gorgeous bikes
totally agree... that sb150 is just race ready! Some of the best looking bikes out there!
Thank you! Yeah, not a lot of access to hardtail demo bikes unfortunately...
However the new HT is awesome, but a different bike all around.
thanks for weighing in!
@@mtbyumyum awesome, thanks for the reply!
Interested to hear your thoughts on a YT Jeffsy !
Have you experienced any tyre rub?
Could we get a video on the evil Offering and then maybe a second vid comparing to another bike or two similar to it?
Yeah, it's just a matter of tracking one down...
Both bikes sound good for a only bike I would have to go with the Yeti
Great review Jason 👌sounds good 🚴🚴😉👍
Just got a megatower the other day, it's like a lifted Denali truck just runs over everything yet more than tolerable climbing single track up in the new england mountains...
I was in the low position and short stays... fun bike for sure but not the best trail bike in my opinion.
MTB yumyum thanks for the reply. Love your channel dude. Always look forward for the next upload. Cheers!!!🍻
I also like the jumps though so I might find the trail more interesting... a couple of the doubles are pretty big though with sandy washed out landing.... yikes!
@@mtbyumyum Yeah, not sure what they were thinking with some of those doubles on limelight. Not fun if you blow that landing.
Great video! Curious what trail you guys were riding? I live in Sandy and would love to try those trails!
Wish you included climbing too, who climbs better between the two
sb150 climbs better...
Thank you for your response can you also make a comparison between yeti sb150 vs deviate highlander?
th-cam.com/video/uiSKRkSE5BY/w-d-xo.html
Coming to Park City in a few weeks. Any trails you recommend I should absolutely hit. I might have to make the drive to ride these infamous Corner Canyon trails as well.
So what you are saying is we won't see any Megatowers at the XC world cup race tomorrow?
haha exactly :)
Has your buddy experienced any unwanted flex/tire rub on his 150?
Check out the transition sentinel. Seems to fit the description
Yeah, I think you're right... I've heard it's a burly bike!
👍. Sounds good. I live in Draper so that works
When in doubt, choose air. It's much easier/cheaper to add or remove a few PSI than to swap out a coil. That said, the Megatower with its progressive rear end lends itself well to a coil.
colorado bikes aka yetis are just on a whole other level
should i demo the yeti sb 5 or go for the sb 6 ; sick video keep it up.
skip both and spring for an Ibis HD4 :)
@@mtbyumyum but we are going to demo yetis at the yeti headquarters but really if you had any advice please tell me. sick video though
If the suspension platform was exactly the same on the Mega than the SB do you think you would still feel the same way?
Well if they were the same then they would behave identical or at least very similar....
would the back end on the S C not be down to set up or shock spec are the shocks the same ?
i would like to see the same shock and forks switched from bike to bike and then see whats what
SC megatower vs Pivot firebird 29 please
Easy, go yeti sb150 or MegaTower...
So how does the sb150 compare to the yeti sb5.5? And the sb5.5 to the Ripmo?
Interestingly enough I feel like the sb5.5 is right between the sb150 and ripmo. That sb5.5 was an incredible bike for sure! sb150 feels like that bigger more stable bike
MTB yumyum Do you feel the SB5.5 is better at climbing than the Ripmo?
MTB yumyum Sb5.5 vs. Ripmo: which is the better all-rounder?
The Ibis Ripmo climbs better and is in my opinion for most peoples trails the better all around bike!
MTB yumyum thank you for your input as I’m deciding between the two. I want a solid 29er which is an all-rounder.
Thank you MYY for another great video and giving us good notes.
I have a v4 nomad and have been temped to go sb150 or megatron! Looks like I’ve made my choice sb150 in yeti blue me thinks.
Cause lets be real. Everyone rides more trail then they think
haha yeah buddy! Do it! You'll love the sb150... Tyler (dude in the video w me) bought the 150
MTB yumyum awesome stuff. Thanks for the great review and helping me spend my money habha
always a good time spending other peoples money!!!
Sustain the excellent job and generating the crowd!
How tall are these guys and what size bikes are they riding?
How much does adjusting the geometry via flip chip and the chain stay length on the megatower does it help its versatility and bulkiness? I've never been on one.
Jason was the Megatower in low or high position and have you tried both positions.. Just curious! Keep up the great vids!
I only rode it in the low setting with short chain stay length
MTB yumyum really looking forward to your 2020 Hightower review.
Hi, what wheels and tires got Tiler on his Yeti sb150? Can you tell me his suspension setup please ? because i ride on very similar terrain just can't get the right setup. Thank you
@mtbyumyum great show.
What size were you riding? I am 5’11. Should I go M or L sb150?
I'm 5'8" on a medium
how does the giant 2021 trance x 29 2 compare to these bikes
Not good lol, giant trance x is a nice entry level bike but these bikes are the real deal. If you want to ride fast on steep gnarly trails and possibly buy some jumps then you’ll want more bike than the giant. My first real bikes were giants though so they’re great starting bikes!
Sweet reviews your sending out but you should really review some European ,UK bikes instead of the same brands but different models . Mix things up a little
not sure how to get them to demo.... I've had the same problem with direct to consumer brands like yt and canyon
I am 5 10 would i be ok size large yeti cheers
Do u have maby some sb 130 vs 150 video ?
Please do the Bronson and the mega please head to head
completely different bikes
@@thecauseofurenvy only wheel size. I've opened both since I asked this.
It's almost like we have different riding styles...
haha that's why a demo is so crucial before purchase where possible. Glad you found the right bike fo you!
I expect a lot of it is in the shock and forks set-up.
don’t know which one to get
@mtbyumyum What were your sag settings on the SB150?
just over 30% sag, 150 psi in the X2
Haha so basically both are mountain man bikes!
I'm loving my 150 so far, coming off a first gen Bronson, cant wait to start hitting the big shit in the Sierra.
Specialized Enduro hands down
Hows the Mach 5.5 compare???
So for pedaling sb130??? What u guys think???
The sb130 doesn't give you a whole lot of cush on the down hill... I would look to the new Ibis Ripmo V2 that just came out... gives you almost all the stability and confidence of the SB150 but climbs better and more fun anytime you're not absolutely sending it. Good luck! Call the guys at Salt Cycles in Sandy Utah... I know they have left over sb150's if you go that direction and they also have the new Ibis Ripmo in stock now~!
what is the lowest seat height?
yeti prolly gets the overall fun score even if less monster on the big stuff.
It's starting to sound to me like it's an 'Either-or' option. Either you get a bike that's *FUN* or you get a bike that's *FAST*
Seems this new longer, lower, slacker paradigm is robbing the fun from the technical and turning it into a churning blender of ever higher speed - where the new prime directive is get it done as FAST as possible, fly down that trail, who cares how you got to the top,
but I'm wanting what I had back in the old school Iron Horse days - just more of it as in great IN the technical but not ABOVE the technical where I don't even feel it anymore.
@@mtbyumyum OK (and without meaning to slap any other companies down) what would be the bike you'd reach for if you were going on a
1-year world-wide MTB trail riding tour?
I guess it would depend on the trails I'd be riding most of the time. Give a wide verity of trails, I'd have to go with the Ibis Ripley or Rocky Mountain Instinct.... if the trails demanded a little more bike, I'd go for the Ibis Ripmo
@@mtbyumyum Am I correct in understanding the Ripley feels a bit more ... uhm, ... "alive"(?) than the RMs?
@@mtbyumyum I am still riding my 2018 Instinct. Dude, I am so glad to see you still feel this way! I am getting ready to upgrade to the Fox 36 150 mm fork. Thanks for the great reviews.
Have you tried kona process 153?
I rode one extensively and loved it!
On my Nomad, I padel up the hill everyday!!
When does that trail usually become ridable in the Spring?
...and I would love to see more riding w/o talking like 6:07 - 6:28

Would've been good to hear more talk about the Yeti. Seems the focus was very much on the SC

Climbs better than a LT you say? Jeez.
Yeah, I think so!
In the UK 🇬🇧, that Yeti is like £8000 😫,,!,
Lock out or unlock the suspension you need!!
It would be impressive, had it not been over five years! 😀
haha still good!
Nice!!!
The best mtb is canyon sender
