Nice post. The real reason why people love these so much is they feel so great to wear next to the skin. These are made from thin nylon, so very silky satin feeling and best worn without underwear . It's all about the mterial, belive you me. I'm so glad Umbro made these and just wish they started making them again...
Hi MM! I'm so glad to hear that you had another great find. Umbro is a great brand. It's from Britain originally. I think a lot of people of my generation (now in their late teens to mid-30s--the media call us "millennials," which I really hate) look for products made in the West by trusted brands. Other good brands to pick up are Fred Perry and Diadora. On another subject, I have been meaning to ask if you've ever done liquidation, meaning buying a lot from a liquidator and selling it on eBay. I went to the first eBay Live event in Anaheim way back in 2002, and met Marsha Collier. She was the author of "eBay for Dummies." She gave a lecture about liquidating. I've always wanted to do it, but it's not for apartment-dwellers like me. When you buy liquidation it comes on a pallet and you have to buy the whole skid. You don't know what you're getting until it shows up. She said once she bought a skid of computer parts for a few hundred dollars, and sold everything for a gross profit of around $3,000.00. She told us she didn't know anything about computer parts, but did her research and turned a quick, easy profit. I thought that was interesting and sounded fun. What do you think?
Drew Conway I did not know it was British (I guess I should know that as I grew up with constant coverage of English Soccer matches on TV in Norway). I have never really considered a liquidation project. It reminds me of buying a storage locker, and from the videos I have seen of that, the work is daunting...But hey, I never say never :-)
BOBSCOTTONLINE That is such neat info. But surely you soccer guys must have worn something underneath? I was surprised how thin this pair of shorts was and the color made it almost see-thru. The cut is really cool though :-)
Underwear and a athletic supporter :-) Longjohns in the late fall. We wore more reds and blacks and it was a time before layering with compression shorts or any of that Underarmour sissy wear :-)
Hi Kay. I want to send you a picture of something I found today at my honey hole mission charity thrift store but your Facebook page link doesn't work. Granted it is one from back in 2013/2014 around the time y'all moved to Norway for a year. Do you have a new one you can share? Thanks a bunch, Pamela
I no longer have my Mad Maine facebook account. It got suspended after somebody notified that it was not my real name, etc. It was a great page with lots of interaction and picture sharing from my subscribers. I seriously need to set up a new page, like a business page instead of a personal one Thanks for reminding me! So what do you find?????
How buys it?? Hipsters from Austin Texas.. ha... Be on the lookout for those old black 80's 90's flip flops with the rainbow color stripe.. I know you remember them .. they were not platform but were about 2"... They are trending now too...
Hi Kay, I watched your video about all the light-weight things you bought which you said you were running an experiment with. How did the experiment work out, aside from this woohoo? And how are the bigger sizes experiment going? I love the money big clothing will bring in, but have a problem photographing it. I wish there was a mannekin that would hold the clothing so that it looks as pretty as it is.
Lauren Caddo Thanks for checking in :-) The lightweight experiment is almost done, and I am planning the comparison video later this week to show how it turned up profitwise, etc. I hear you about the +size clothing!!! Photographing it was tricky, and my one hanging plastic mannequin was not any help as the clothes fell off, lol. I am thinking a +size mannequin would do wonders. Do you have one?
Just curious if you are getting bored with clothes? So smart to do lightweight easy to ship items. Isn't it hard to pass up the other good stuff you know about?
Christine Ray Haha, not bored yet because this type of clothing finds/sales is new to me and I am learning. Overall, I find most clothes terrible tedious, partly because I am not into fashion and changing trends myself. But I like vintage for sure and am happy to "rescue" it, just like with vintage collectables, I suppose. Also, by focusing on small, lightweight items, I can keep things organized in smaller spaces. Can keep a lot more shorts etc in a tub than fragile glassware (though I still pick up good pieces of glass, ceramics, etc). And the shipping is soooo easy and almost "fun" Cheers, Mm
I will call it a "smarty" question!!! :) "Hard To Find". Just for fun, type htf into eBay search and see what items come up. Good just to have for basic thrifting info. Some sellers will use it when something is not htf and some items are really htf. I would say XL umbros are htf

I love your 1980s umbro silky shorts

I used to have a lot of umbro nylon shorts.
Nice yellow early 1980's umbro shorts good luck with your vintage shorts clothing sales' vintage & retro clothing always nice.
That is too funny! I remember how popular Umbros were in the 90s. Some people must be nostalgic for their Umbros! haha
It seems like everyone but me remember this from the 80s and 90s, lol. Did you have a pair too? Btw, hope to meet up soon :-)
Missed this reply somehow! I think I had some knock off ones. lol Hope to see you soon, too!
My sister used to wear those when we were in high school in the late 80's lol. I cannot believe that those sold for so much! Crazy!
Girls wore them too? I am getting so educated with this, lol - thanks for sharing and commenting :-) Cheers, MM
Oh yes my sister and her friends loved their Umbro shorts in the 80's lol!
WOO HOO! I graduated HS in 1987 and I wore those almost exclusively as a soccer player for 5+ years prior. Great BOLO!
BOBSCOTTONLINE That is such neat info. But surely you soccer guys must have worn something underneath? I was surprised how thin this pair of shorts was and the color made it almost see-thru. The cut is really cool though :-)

Umbro nylon shorts can be worn without underwear on.

Prairiepickingirls Thank you, will definitely look out for those flip-flops!! Haha, Austin Hipsters, great buying force :-)

What did you start the bidding at ? Thanks for sharing about these!
You are welcome - I started the auction at $15, and I would have been happy with that, lol. Now I know better :-) Cheers, MM

Awesome!!!! Nice to have some positive energy poured into your life right now. WTG
Umbros are sought after soccer shorts. Maybe because they are "cool" and HTF? I have found size small, but not XL. Great size also.
Blessed Child Thank you! So here is a dummy question: What is HTF?

I want to buy yellow one
I do lol
