Mukanda, rite of passage of the Mbounda people of Congo (DRC)

We continue our journey to the heart of the Mbounda territory in the province of Kwilu, Democratic Republic of Congo.
We will be privileged to witness the different ceremonies of the Mukanda rite of passage.
In the months of July and August, with the end of the school term, many ethnic groups in Congo continue to perform their rites of passage.
About a hundred children will spend a month in the initiation camp where they will be circumcised and taught everything they need to know to become adults.
Rituals, dozens and dozens of masks and impressive ancestral scenes will take place during our stay.
