Great work Roger. I loved your video. Top quality and especially the drone shots. I was actually on board Lion New Zealand which was a trip of a lifetime for me. I’m from Southampton and I was there when Steinlager crossed the line to win her Whitbread, and that triggered in me a love of New Zealand and sailing and led to me living here. I did actually take a quick screenshot of Lion from your video because I wanted to be able to show Lion from the outside as I was on her. I think I might of put it in my video which I published here. Mine shows all the spectating from being on board Lion. Can I please ask if you are okay with me doing that? Thanks. And I hope you enjoy checking out my two videos. One has me in and the proper one doesn’t !!!
Glad you enjoyed my video - certainly a great day for the sendoff and Lion would have been the perfect viewing platform. No trouble with the screenshot used in your video, and nice to see footage from on board. It was great having Steinlager 2 out as well. Looks like you have transitioned to NZ life perfectly :)
Thank you. It certainly was one of my days of a lifetime. As if life has gone full circle over 35 years. I doubt if I’d get the opportunity again, because with the way the race is growing, I would feel certain that Lion will be corporate chartered out next time well in advance with more public interest. The breeze couldn’t have been more perfect for a beautiful start. Glad you enjoyed my video.
Guessing the Tris will be well down in the 50s as the OGR has very conservative way points for safety. You never know, would be great if they get a flyby !!!

Yes at an average of 30 knots could very well be hazards 😀
