Ok guys, you asked for it! Here's a tutorial on the beautiful(does that word fit for Nurgle?) Phlugoth the Miser, the Harbinger of Decay for Maggotkin of Nurgle, thanks to @officialwarhammer! Nurgle is my favourite Chaos god and this model is a lot of fun to paint! Even though it's mostly browns and greens, it still manages to look super interesting thanks to its incredible tactical rock base and that horse who has clearly trudged for many miles through many stinking swamps. Bonus feature with this video tutorial is the sweet sounds of an Irish summer...sorry about the noise from the rain! What's your favourite Dawnbringer character? FAQ:Adding a light spray of Grey Seer over a full coat of black primer adds a small amount of texture to the primer which gives the contrast paint more to grip on to. It also adds light and shadows which helps define the model more.

The old nurgle lord on daemonic mount was my favourite of the 4 gods on their respective mounts back in the day, happy to see him remade new, looks great.
Yep. They have indeed done so many stunning nurgle models.
The rabble rowza is my favorite because a grot wearing an ork skull is something with a strong appeal to me but the Harbringer of Decay is for sure the best model of the bunch. It's got a real mythical quality to it

One of the older metal iterrations of this lad was one of my absolute favorite minis to look at in the warriors of chaos army book for 5th ed WHFB. Great paint job

That’s my favorite model released so far this year. I can’t get into AOS but I’d love to see that get played in the Old World.
It is absolutely stunning, so many cool little details you only notice when you’re painting as well! I was so tempted to put it in a square base too 😂
A truly stunning miniature and a worthy homage to Frank Frazetta IMO. Really like your interpretation of the box scheme too, I'll be going bare metal for his armour too, seems to make more sense for Nurgle. If you were to go back, or when you do a second, would you lean into the weathering a little more? This version seems relatively clean (except the horse, I think looking at it gave me dysentery)
Hey you and yes some more grime would be good. I for some reason have a fondness for slightly cleaner nurgle. I know how stupid that sounds.

I am not much of a fan of Nurgle but this model is still amazing and must be a contender for model of the year.
It’s definitely going to be up there at the top! It’s a cool one to use for conversions as well even if you don’t want it to be nurgle themed!
I'd definitely like to see the other two painted up. I have the Rabble-Rowza and I would definitely like to see your take on him.

I still have a AOS Nurgle army around I always had a thing for Nurgle so nice and nasty :-P ha Also glad they updated the boxset since the boxset was more or less the same for many years just different branding on it and that mini looks so cool and I have to say I have to disagree with your channel name Mediocre my backside ha Great stuff bud have the latest video lined up to watch now after this one.

I'm more of a Khorne guy but that really is a nice model and paint scheme, must be a pain to spray properly though.
Also I miss the Irish summer rain, in Canada we just get fires 🙄
Yeah there's a lot of detail to spray around! Ok yes rain is better than fires, that's not good at all!

This is a great tutorial! Just getting into the hobby (after pestering from friends) and this was exactly what I needed to sort work out what paints I would need to get started!
Out of interest - what brushes do you use/recommend?
Standard gamesworkshop brushes for me. And I’m glad the video helped pal.
I personally like the Marrowscroll Herald, but I'm biased as a FEC player lol

So I don’t know if you’ve done one, I can’t find it if you did, is there a video/can you do a video showing your priming technique? Cause I’ve done chaos black with an overspray of grey seer and it always ends up lightly…cracked? Idk how to describe it. It never looks as clean as what shows up on camera at least compared to you.

awesome work just bought the paints and boxset to follow along with it by chance do you have any tips for how to tackle the blightkings in the set or do you plan on making a tutorial for them in the future
I do at some stage plan to do a video on them. But it’s a good bit off. Do you. Oh reckon you have a way to paint them from this video?
@@MediocreHobbies i was thinking of modifying the scheme you made for the horse skin to use for the blightkings skin maybe try and make a couple of varients such as a bloated or rotten look as for the armour and fabrics you nailed their apperance

In 13 minutes you didn’t put a single drop of paint on the blade. You talked about highlighting it, but never said what color you painted it, if you shaded it, or showed any of it.

Nurgle certainly is (ironically) a pallet cleansing army for me. Maybe because I usually do such neat and tidy work the grim and putrefaction of Nurgle is so different to me.
