And this, children, is why a regular "check in" is a powerful tool in maintaining relationships.
You set aside an hour where you and your partner can say whatever is on your mind without judgement and talk through what could potentially be a major issue

To quote a man wiser than I: "Paradox is an overrated threat." Overthrowing the whole space-time continuum and locking everyone and everything inside it in an infinite loop is probably beyond the ability of one jaunt down the river. And besides, if the world was going to end to time travel, by the laws of time travel, it would have already. I think she's fine.

Perhaps it is because one of my favorite college professors had written her thesis on the Philosophy of Time that I am so interested and well versed on the topic. I've always believed that if time travel were possible it would instead be just a branching moment in the multiverse where you going back to change something doesn't really matter because all you did was split a timeline into two where you did go and changed something and you didn't go and change nothing, as to avoid the Grandfather paradox. Another idea I've considered has been that altering the past would then alter the timeline causing the timeline you came from to entirely cease to exist but reality continues. All that said, because I adore Dreamy so much I instead propose another solution one where we take the quantum physics concept of retrocausality where an effect affects its own cause thus altering aspects of reality without completely wiping the board clean leading to Dreamy forgetting of the affairs existence while the listener knows that there was an instance in time which had existed but now no longer and as such they also have never experienced the affair but do remember being warned about it... No the entire timeline imploding sounds far more reasonable to me. -Jack H.

It was great to read but I don't believe in multiple timelines or parralel universes. It's physically unlikely and time travel is impossible (the shortest way to explain it is that it would break the natural law of conservation as in the past where you transport to you'd add mass and energy which did not exist in said timeline yet)

    • @H4V3N

I like the style of time travel from Netflix’s DARK. Where the past, present, and future, are all happening at the same time cause they’re all conjoined at once. If you were to travel through time. The effects of your travel would be set in stone 13.7 billion years before you had a say in the matter.

Loved the audio as always. I've been facinated by time travel for ages. Read a short story in one of the Asimov sci-fi magazines over 30 years ago, that got me into it. The idea of causal loops like this are really interesting. Whilst yes if we remember the situation and thus the problem is prevented, I would think we'd remember to go back again anyway to ensure the mistake didn't occur, rather than just continue on. I will say while I don't approve of cheating, I would much rather (in the case of rp's only) be cast as a cheater, than to have been cheated on. I've had that happen, and it ended the relationship. I will also say that two things can be true at the same time. In that the wife CAN love the husband, but still be absolutely done with the relationship, and the same in the other direction, where the husband can be done with it, whilst still loving the wife, so yes 100% communication is VITAL in any relationship, but especially marriage, and I really appreciate that emphasis. I hope you have a beautiful day Dreamy. :D

This was a really good story Dreamy! I think it's an interesting twist to roleplays when the listener is the bad guy in some respects and when done well it can make the story a bit more complex. I think you did a very good job of this by showing how the listener made the choice to cheat and how wrong he was to do so. After all, it wouldn't be a time travel story without something from the past to fix.

This video affected me very strongly emotionally given that (without going into details and personal) my parents broke up for a similar reason, both of them hurt themselves at the time and my father suffered a lot, for economic reasons I and my brother we didn't suffer the trauma of having our parents live in two different houses so in a slightly twisted sense I consider myself "lucky" given that we still all live together today and my parents love each other (not in the romantic sense ) but unfortunately something between them has been irreparably broken since then.

Hmmm....its hard. There's the...I guess, slightly-more-logical part of my brain that can process this story without much friction. If I think of as like, a classical tragedy or plot to a soap opera, then I can rationalize both the Speaker and Listener's actions as understandable, and I can get satisfaction from that. On the other hand, my emotional-monkey brain definitely got a very brief shot of 'The Bad Vibes' when we got around to the Listener's affairs...and, IDK, maybe that's a sign that there's something wrong with me if I got that emotionally connected to a 20-ish minute audio.
Like I said, Its Hard lol. Speaking of the audio however, this was top-notch work Dream and I really did enjoy. Looking forward to the next one.

...and a few weeks later, she poofs back into our foyer with a gunshot wound for a brief moment, and then we never see the time travelling wife of that age again.
Which leads to a lifetime of regret for a mistake which simultaneously has and has not happened. Because we remember seeing it happen, which brings a crushing weight of self-doubt from the possibility of being the shooter, but also the realization that we love our time travelling wife enough to emotionally cripple ourselves instead of taking the chance of hurting her.
Which, ironically, is precisely what we do. In a worse way than we could have imagined.

While I would like to think I'd never go down the same path the listener did here I can see the same thought process that led there. Stress, doubt and that one bad day all weaving together to create a downward mental spiral to the point you feel a relationship is dead and other people don't care. At that point why not just torch the thing and warm yourself by the fire? Because that's the depression talking and you don't listen to the depression, you talk to people about it.

I've been on the receiving end of some pretty toxic and abusive relationships and I won't lie, I have cheated in them because of that. It was definitely not my proudest moment, but it happened my partner never found out about it, but we ended up splitting up because I just couldn't be with her anymore both physically and verbally abusive.
Personally, I don't know how the listener could decide to cheat after only one argument, no matter how bad. Because I can't even imagine doing that. Even when I did it, it was because of almost an entire year of abuse. Then it was only for a few days on my vacation. Listeners, definitely the bad guy in the situation I almost feel like the speaker doesn't really do enough to warrant such a reaction. If it was a constant thing such as every time, she gets overwhelmed or stressed, she takes it out on them. I could probably see it but not after one fight.
Still a great audio and does show why you should always communicate in a good relationship.
And take it from me don't ignore the red flags just because the person's attractive.

Oh yeah, also ask for playing the bad guy I do enjoy playing more villainous roles, but probably not in that way. There's probably a couple people here that would enjoy it, if only for the role play reasons but I'm not one of them.

Very well-acted, Dreamy. Nicely done. Overall, it's sweet and adorable.
BUT... and there's a very big but here... if future-me and future-her are coordinating to prevent a relationship mistake in their past (my future), then wouldn't it make more sense to just rebuild their relationship in their native time INSTEAD OF RISKING A UNIVERSE-DAMAGING TEMPORAL PARADOX!?!? 😜
As for casting the listener as the bad guy, that merely needs a trigger warning in the title like [Listener cheated] or in your case [Listener would have cheated]. With the right warnings, you're fine.

This was definitly an interesting audio.
On making the listener the cheater. I'm not really, discouraged by it. Cheating is something I will never do, no matter what. But it makes for a nice and hard hitting story. Does make you as the listener feel like crap though. I mean, you look at it as your partner from the future telling your the one who ruins everything. That's gonna hit really hard. I know she says both of them were to blame, but she definitly thinks it's mostly our fault. Which, we did have the affair. So she's not entirely off. But she did say something very hurtful, that I do feel would shake your faith on "I love you", just a bit atleast. No excuse to cheat. That's still on us. But, like you said. They really need to communicate. Which makes me think couldn't she have time traveled to the moment after she said that and told that version of us what she meant? Am I thinking too hard on this? Yes.... Apologies.
Also, future us shows up? So, there not on that bad of terms? Also, if he talked to our past wife, can't we just bring this up to her? And agree to have better communication than future us? Or, since future wife mentions that he was "supposed to go see our wife" that he didn't go there? Which means, we're the only one too have this time travel stuff happen too them? Or, was him showing up a hint that we did fix things. And there together again?
I have so many questions. And they will probably never get answers. Anyway, back to my original point. Personally, while it does make me feel awful. It's fine, makes for a deep and hard hitting story. Like you said, nice people can make mistakes.
There were some parts of this audio, that I feel were very happy where as the rest, was, well, sad in a way.
The part where she brings up the kids we're gonna have, the part where we point out her wrinkles it just felt. Wholesome. Y'know? Also, hey!! One of our kids became a sceintist!! So, maybe I will be a good dad after all.
Anyway, apologies for the long comment. You gave me a lot fo think about. Both in terms of time travel and relationships.
Loved this!! In a weird way, it was kinda sweet. Sad, but sweet. I hope that makes sence.
AMAZING performance as always!! Making us feel bad both in writing!! And in your performance!!! Really know how to make a guy hate himself........ (But seriously, you did AMAZING with this!! As always!!)
Thank you for another kinda sad, kinda comforting? PERFECT vid!!!!!!!
P.S. one last question, if we kissed future wife. Would that be cheating? She's technically our wife, so it's fine right?

While you are correct in saying that it isn’t pleasant to think of yourself in a bad light doing so can cause reflection. In todays society we too often group ourselves in bad/good guys where you and the people you like are if not good then “likeable” (don’t have a great word for it not a native speaker) and the others as bad. I think everyone should reflect themselves into the role of the bad one (don’t actually do bad things) and really deeply try to immerse into that in your head, I think this will stop you from seeing yourself as perfect or to see the other as a villain, or someone you have to justify your “clan” to or beat. I know a lot of people who refuse to see themselves or theirs in a bad light and with every thing that slightly paints them that way will lash out and point to a bad thing the “opposition” did or said. Seeing ourselves in things we don’t like humbles us to view people we might not agree with in kinder lights and exposes our own unjust pride in us and ours.

Real talk, no disrespect. I absolutely hated this. Now, that's a sign of quality and above all else shows the passion for your work that you could invoke strong emotions in total strangers over a medium as nebulous as TH-cam. Your audio quality was good, your voice work was good, the writing par excellence. But I despise the premise and while that's on me you did ask for opinions. Once again, no disrespect, I truly truly don't want to offer you critique without writing it out that you do good work.
Just, as I said previous, this felt quite off. Maybe because I'm weird but I tend to take people literally and so I'd interpret this 'game' as some strange freaking way of saying she's unhappy, and ironically that doubt and paranoia would lead to this scenario as envisaged maybe happening. So, I dislike it on principle that time traveler tries to stop something ironically makes it happen. The trope bores me.
I hope I've come across coherently, I wish you a good day, and mad respect for actually putting out the effort and the courage to produce something. Critique is far easier and I wish to convey I have nothing but earnest respect and not derision for your channel.
