I enjoyed your video. Glad you have a Deere combine. We bought one last year and really like all the technology on it. I’ve never Ben in it. My grandson runs it . All the latest technology is awsome. He sets it once and it will automatically correct for field loss. Keep up the good word . What impresses the most is your honesty about yields. And so forth. They knock the Deere but go to an auction and see what holds their value the most
We got a 608C and it’s been a great head! We upgraded to a S780 this year and bought a 616C and we’ve been running it this year and the S780 is handling it just fine! We also kept the 608C around in case we couldn’t get in to all of the fields and we also picked our plot with it!
Our neighbor runs a 616C on his S780 as well. It would be nice to have everything 40ft.. but since it’s just Dad and I, we figured an 8 row would keep me busy in the grain chart and semi anyways! Lol
I have driven red green and yellow combines and why are the green combines so many more moving parts all the way back in the 1970s ? Also even the newest deeres when you unload you would think the roller chain was next to your ear with all the noise
Dad ran an S670 back in the day as a test and he’ll agree to you how loud it was! When Deere started making their own cabs they didn’t use automotive glass which has a lot of noise reduction. This new S780 is QUIET. I can’t hear anything in the cab. Scares me sometimes because I don’t think it’s running. I’ll agree on the moving parts as well. So many adjustments gotta be made on the outside of the machine just to go from corn to beans.
we had the same issue with our combine this year and we changed the sensor and then changed that front filter and it fixed it. the filter had a bunch of sludge in it.
@@salisburyfarms I'm guessing at some point there was condensation. who knows but at least there is someone else have the same issue bc all of our techs were like never seen this before on an 780. I always say its always something simple 9 times out of 10.
I run grain cart for a guy that runs an S680 and he uses a 12 row 20 inch head. That head is the same width as an 8 row 30 inch head. He prefers that over anything bigger.
We needed a combine right away for harvest as our other one caught fire on the second day. John Deere had us a combine within a day, so we traded in a red one for the green! That's all. Not particularly loyal to any brand!
You might have to speed up your back shaft to run the feed rolls faster it'll pull down a lot quicker and you won't get as much trash coming into the machine
One of the major problems with the Deere head. Rolls cost a small fortune. You can basically add a few dollars per acre to your costs because of them. Seriously thinking about switching to geringhof for the replaceable knifes and to try to cut down on butt shelling.
I don't know if it's a new thing they are all aluminum supposedly lighter than the old 12 row heads. One thing that prevented us from going 18 on the 760 claas would void warranty over 16 rows
Used to plant golden harvest, not sure if dad still is. If so it’s not much. We haven’t been on a cruise, sounds like a good time though! Really, that’s interesting! What don’t you like about it? Is it a Drago GT?
Hmm I'm just now catching your channel and watching this, so I realize my input 3 weeks later is mostly null, but we run a S680 and a 9770 both with 612C heads and use JD1720 16row stack fold planter, and up grading to a JD1725 16 row Exactemerg stack fold next year. and we have no problems running the 12-row head with the 16 row planters. Now as far as my opinion of the JD head, well I hate the header loss it has. And been trying to get the boss to do some upgrades to them like Calmer chopping Stalk rolls and their stripper plates would help but would like to see how a Drago or Geringhoff compares. Now as far as your FieldView all you need to do is to put a puck in the combine connect it to the IPad and it will record to the IPad directly using the combines info. Anyway, that's what we do with both our 9770 and S680. Great content and enjoyed the video hope you have had a good and safe harvest so far.
That’s some great information! We’re looking into the Drago GT’s for next or maybe the following year because we also don’t like the head loss. Glad to hear the 12 row isn’t a problem with the 16 row planter. We thought about trying one out but never did thinking it would be. We definitely need to get some sort of yield monitoring going with fieldview. Appreciate ya! Thanks for all the information. Happy farmin!

Hahaha well I don’t mind if it’s expensive to work on, so long as it’s saving me a couple bushel per acre from head loss. Which I think it would compared to the Deere. That 608 butt shells terribly!

Many Americans have had to run up their credit cards to pay for food and rent. But yet over 50% of the corn crop in the United States is grown for ethanol production which is mandated by the federal government. Next year the federal government is going to hand out over 30 billion dollars in subsidies for farmers.
