    The lobsters in the beginning is like "Bro, if you flip me upside down one more time, so help me God I'm gona cut your oxygen line." Haha.

    Lobsters have so much personality. Its amazing to watch them in tanks. They are very particular about how their den is arranged.

    The way that he drops the lobster and begins backing away is priceless. You could have the manliest man on Earth; a colossus of human power and influence, and he would be helpless when faced with a fully-grown lobster.

      What's the point when it is done with frequencies in captivity anyway...

    Maine lobstermen throw back big lobsters and most fertile female lobsters. This is one of the reasons Maine lobster are the best in the world. They are regulated and not over fished. Maine is one of the only place in the world that do this. Proud to have studied marine biology and ecology in Maine!

    • @BlueWorldTV
      @BlueWorldTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      And the interesting thing is that the fishermen were doing this all by themselves long before the government stepped in and made regulations about it. If only other fishing industries were smart like that.

    • @killercoyote5673
      @killercoyote5673 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They also throw back the ones that are smaller than 3 1/4 inches in order to be able to let them grow. A lot of the big ones thrown back end up not fitting in anymore traps after another shed which is good for them.

      Large lobster aren't as sweet and tender as the chick's. They don't even make a good lobster salad.

      @@sebastianmineo1313yeah to get that big they have to be around 70-100 years old often times they can’t even use their claws anymore so their flesh has to be super tough.

    most people don't realize just how intelligent and amazing crustaceans are. I have a pet crayfish which is effectively a freshwater version of a lobster with other minor differences and it's very interesting to see what activities he gets up too. he loves climbing, digging, eating, hiding in his log, sleeping, looking at his reflection and he will even rearrange the tank to his liking. he also likes to come up to the glass and look at me. it's also very interesting to see how crustaceans adapt to their environment. he came from a tank with other crayfish and was missing a claw and had a piece of his tail fin clipped off. when i first got him he was very anxious and scared but he began to settle in and get used to the home that was previously used by the previous dwarf crayfish that sadly passed away. a lot of people also don't realize that they feel emotions like the ones humans do and have their own personality. it's unfortunate that people see these amazing animals only as food on a plate

      Litter box is a good idea to keep the cat out of 😂the cat is a little bit more aggressive than the other cat but he is a little more aggressive and has a lot of aggression and cat behavior so he can be more aggressive and aggressive and aggressive and he can be aggressive and aggressive when he is trying to get out 🎉 cat is a little more aggressive and aggressive than the others but he is a little more aggressive and aggressive than the other cat and I think he is more aggressive and aggressive towards the other cat because he is more aggressive and aggressive than most people are very active in their behavior and he is very aggressive and aggressive and 😢 he is very calm and very aggressive and he has been a good dog to dog so he will not let you down but if he does he can get away from you and you have to go to the vet cat and you can get a good pet and you can get him to go to a ombudsman

    I know I've had my share of comments on this video but I was wondering Jonathan, if you could maybe do a tide pool episode.Unless you're in Hawaii you can't really dive in them, but they are amazing. Even just in New England. I have had tide pool experience there in NE but also in other places like the Caribbean. I have been fascinated by them because of the small ecosystem co-existing with ocean right next to it. It is cool to see them because its like a mini coral reef with hermit crabs, normal crabs, fish, corals, and urchins

      As a kid I grew up down the street from the rocky shoreline of New England. My friend's mother would take us down and let us snorkel in the tide pools. There was quite the assortment of life. 3 inch long lobsters, starfish, various shell fish, sea urchin, sea anenome. Some really awesome stuff. The reason for the parent is because the open ocean is an unpredictable place.

    • @BlueWorldTV

    I hear that a majority of baby lobsters dont make it out in the wild but could it be possible to grow all of the baby lobsters from a single mother in captivity? Cause if that's possible then there could be farms across the usa growing lobsters and the price of lobsters would decrease and everyone will be able to eat them at a cheap price

    • @kennethwardingley9209
      @kennethwardingley9209 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only problem is that they take about 7 years to get to market size, so you are feeding them for 7 years to produce a lobster that only sells for $10. It's hard to make the economics work.

    After the 9:00 minute mark, you can see some "intelligence" lobsters 🦞 , those who once likely got caught in a trap, but due to their supposed size, where let go, being returned to the waters.

      +avaorchid You have seen it before. We are in the process of re-releasing some of our more popular older episodes in HD. Previously, we were contractually obligated to release on TH-cam in SD only. Now we can upload in HD and many fans have been asking for the older episodes to be uploaded in HD.

    Isnt capturing only big lobsters make it so over time lobsters will get smaller and smaller?

      BlueWorldTV yes i mean the fishing regulations. Because the smaller ones will be selected over time. It happened in a river near my city in Brazil. The law stated that you could only fish tilapia a certain size, and over time the fish started getting smaller.

      In Maine, there is also a maximum size limit as well as a minimum size limit. If the lobster is too big, it must be thrown back.

    Jonathan I’m with you I would not want to eat one myself though I do find it very interesting. All your videos have been very frustrating to watch good I actually do enjoy watching them tremendously. Please keep up the good work. Have you done any videos on the killer whales? Maybe you have I haven’t seen it yet. If you have please let me know where I can find it because I would like to be able to watch your video please. I personally do love the ocean and taking pictures of the light houses in New England and also the coast.

      Normally, this is where I say "Fish are friends, not food!" but the lobster fishery is well managed (mostly by the fishermen themselves), and the species is sustainably harvested, so I really have no issue with people eating lobster. Of course, I'm not eating what amounts to a big bug...

    A stupid owner from kitchen nightmares advertises that he has Maine lobsters in his restaurant, but Gordon Ramsey discovered they are Canadian lobsters and then the owner says I don’t care they are the same species and same Atlantic waters, then Gordon replied dude the Maine lobster is award winning

    • @BlueWorldTV
      @BlueWorldTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOL....they are the same species. They are found in the western North Atlantic all along the north American and Canadian coast north of about Virginia. People say the Maine lobster is the best....but I'm not sure that's really true. But who knows....I don't eat them. I have no interest in eating a big bug!!! :-)
