Nigel and Brian clough is a tough one as Brian career cut short from injuries but was a prolific striker but nigel went to to have a better playing career
speaking of Frank Lampard being accused of being a beneficiary of nepotism, Giuliano Simeone is likely the exact opposite problem in that his dad doesn't let him play for Atleti to make sure he isnt accused of it, any other player with Giuliano's stats for the Atletico Bs would see him getting minutes (like with Garces, Camello, Mollejo etc. all getting reasonable minutes for the first team). Just an interesting aspect of other problems that can arise when your dad is a coach
It's arguable that Tiago Alcántara was better than his father. Mazinho was a world champion in 1994 and the finest defesive/creative midfielder you can imagine. When I see beast of burden like Roy Keane in lsit like "the best defensive midlfielder of all times" I cry.
Jos Verstappen scored 17 points and 2 podiums in 10 years of F1. Max is country miles ahead of his dad, who got slaughtered by Michael Schumacher at Benetton
@@crystalracing4794 Not that it's an extraordinary achievement, but with the current points system Jos would have scored around 50 points. Still the comparison with Alfie and Erling Haaland makes some sense.
Might be cool to see a video about the rise of RC Lens. And this year they look like the team to challenge PSG for the Ligue 1 title after beating them 3-1
Since you mentioned it, could you make a video on the frankly outrageous amount of talent that could have declared for the Surinamese National team? Silly good names like Virgil van Dijk, Nigel de Jong, Gini Wijnaldum and a smathering of others all would have been eligable.
Do they actually have a national team though? I mean Gibraltar only started having one a few years ago but have been around for over two hundred years.
A reverse could definitely get made as well i reckon. Justin kluivert for one definitely hasn't been able to live up to his namesake's legacy, though he's still got some years ahead him

*ummm i feel a need to correct the record about eidur gudhonsson being a regular during his Barcelona spell. In truth he was played a lot more sporadically at Barca and the majority of his appearances were from the bench. His transfer was a somewhat strange one from a Barca perspective but the timing of it explains a lot. It was a transfer that was brilliant for Chelsea given Eidur’s age at the time. He was one of the players signed in what was to become Frank Rijkaard’s final season as Barca coach. It was a very scattergun approach that signed players more for superficial reasons over what they can offer relative to something the team needs. Gudjonsson for all his goals scored at Chelsea struggled to really convince in the Barca system. By the time Barca had had unbelievable success in their first season under pep, Txiki Beguiristain was forced to sign only the players specifically requested rather than giving a whole bunch of random players that the coach never asked for thrown in his lap and forced to integrate. Still in spite of all that Pep still gave him minutes during that treble season and Eidur accepted the situation and didn’t complain or create unnecessary drama that would destabilize the team. He was a pro all the way through and I’m honestly happy for him that he got to be part of that amazing team that was having that incredible moment, albeit with minimal involvement in the decisive matches.
he was signed right after the double season in 2006 and even scored a goal that wouldve dragged eventual finalists Liverpool into extra time going by today's rules
Mark Bellingham is a well respected former footballer. Mark played for Met Police and England C and was an absolute goal machine for many West Midlands teams when he came up here. Sadly he got a bad knee injury which curtained his career progression in terms of football. But he scored 40 goals in a season for my team, many of them from stupid angles that aren't possible, lol. That being said he of course had a career outside of football as a policeman in the West Midlands Police force. He was a copper on the streets as well as banging in a stupid number of goals each season. Amongst other roles he was a race relations officer. He is married to Denise and a while later had a kid called Jude. That's a story kidda.
Nigel clough didn't stand a chance, his dad finished his playing days with a higher goals per game ratio than messi and ronaldo and then went on to manage nottingham forest to back to back european cups
I guess the tip is don't get too good. Cristiano Ronaldo will keep telling us his son is his own man but the legacy of his father will forever hang over his head.
Thiago, i would argue, is a better footballer than Mazinho. Surely at least an honourable mention, especially considering that his dad is a world cup winner
Kaká apearing out of nowere in 2002nand suspicions about Djaliminha attitude, impeded Djalma Santos (1958 and 1962) and Djalminha to rack three World Cups between father and son.
Why not a video on 7 female footballers who are better ( or achieved more ) than their fathers? Dutch ex-international player Manon Melis ( daughter of Harry Melis) comes to mind (as does Jill Roord, daughter of René Roord for that matter).

I remember both Danny Blind and Mazinho and Blind is better than his son whilst Mazinho (despite winning a WC) was a worse player than Thiago (had it not been his injuries, this would be clear) but better than Rafinha. Laudrup brothers and Pepe Reina also are great case of sons better than father - didnt know their parent also played professionaly

Another honourable mention to former Manchester United player, Argentina International, and Libertadores winner Juan Sebastián Verón. One of the best midfielders I've seen play. His father Juan Ramón "La Bruja" (the witch) Verón was a great Estudiantes player who won the Libertadores thrice and even beat Manchester United in the Intercontinental Cup in 1967. This is even more impressive when you understand that Estudiantes has never been one of the big clubs in Argentina. But his son was better, Juan Sebastián "La Brujita" (the little witch) Verón also got to win the Libertadores in 2009 and just barely lost to Pep Guardiola's Barcelona -perhaps the best team of all time-, where they were about to win before Barcelona tied it in the 88th minute and eventually won in extra time. Verón by then though had already played in Manchester United and been one of the best players for Argentina for years, even getting to be captain. One of the best midfielders Argentina has ever had.
Juan Veron played for Panathinaikos back in the early 70s I think and is still remembered by the fans. There were rumours that Panathinaikos would sign Juan Sebastian every year after his 30th birthday but it never happened.

If he’s that good, a club will come in for him. But it’s a funny situation though.
It's arguable that Tiago Alcántara was better than his father. Mazinho was a world champion in 1994 and the finest defesive/creative midfielder you can imagine. When I see beast of burden like Roy Keane in lsit like "the best defensive midlfielder of all times" I cry.
aka, the Max Verstappen of football
That's a good comparison yes.
@@soundscape26 Tbh a comparison between Kevin Magnussen and his dad Jan would make more sense, but that's the F1 obsessive in me speaking
Footballers who are better than their fathers:
- Every footballer whose father never played
Might be cool to see a video about the rise of RC Lens. Promoted (some might say fortuitously)during the pandemic due to France suspending the Ligue 2 season, but have backed that up with back to back 7th place finishes.
He made this video already... you should check it out!
Arguing that the greatest of all was Seddorf, not only could he be eligible for his ancestry, but he was literally born in the South American country.
Do they actually have a national team though? I mean Gibraltar only started having one a few years ago but have been around for over two hundred years.
@@andrewleah1983 They do. They are members of CONCACAF. Played their first fixture in 1915.
@@caesar-dynastysports Cool older than a lot of European teams too.
A reverse could definitely get made as well i reckon. Justin kluivert for one definitely hasn't been able to live up to his namesake's legacy, though he's still got some years ahead him
Sir Alex and Darren Ferguson surely wins this criteria? 🤣
Anyone else think Nigel De Jong looks a bit like Jordan Peele in some of his pics?
Love the video. Waiting for the next part eagerly.
Vladimir Lenin was also a quarter Kalmyk Mongol
That means,he is also an Interracial person who is actually,Russian,German,Swedish,Israeli and Mongolian, good friend Tennisman!!!🏋️♂️
When mentioning Frank Lampard and his uncle, i'm surprised you didn't make more of a point with Jamie Redknapp at the time, other honourable mentions missed Daley Blind and with further research a lot more that should've been in this top 7.
Daley Blind wasnt better than his father.
Blind father was one of the top players for Ajax and even won the ucl with them.
That's a story kidda.
this is a good little video alfie
Another masterclass from you Alfie, well done.
Maldini senior also coached Maldini Jr in the 1998 World Cup!
I am Dutch, I never knowed Nigel de Jong his dad was a football player aswell
Haalands dad is more famous for Roy Keane's horror tackle than his skill as a player
Great video. Alfie, and glad to see you corrected your initial mispronunciation of Matthias (Sammer). Keep doing what you are doing!
I already feel bad for the Messi brothers 20 years ahead of time. lol.
Cesare, Paolo and Daniel Maldini have all won Serie A, that should have been mentioned.
I'm kind of assuming most professional footballers are better than their fathers, other family members and pets for that matter.....
Exactly what i was thinking
few I did not know, great video
Another interesting case is Eden Hazards Father and Mother both played for Belgium at some point in their careers
And his brothers both play professionally
Claude Mak-ah-lay-laay. 😂 Haha love ya work Alfie!
Lampard has the same name and the same face as his dad
Thiago, i would argue, is a better footballer than Mazinho. Surely at least an honourable mention, especially considering that his dad is a world cup winner
New arrival (in next 20 years)
Pendu Jr and his Arabian Father...
I would think that almost all professional footbal players are better than their fathers, aren't they?
If you go Surinam and called them South American you'd get a good laugh ; Surinam, Guyana, Belize are all considered Caribbean territory.
Achieved more. If the daughter is better, there is no way dad was a pro😂
I love this content
Best German players in the premier league of all time. (Day 439)
I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored.
If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.
Jurgen klinsmann of course.
Man, that's a good idea
Commenting to support your comment! I love the tenacity!
Bro daniel maldini's team's name literally means "the spice"
In part 2 can you mention Brian Clough and Nigel Clough, also kwame ampadu and Ethan ampadu
Nigel arguably wasn’t better than Brian though, I’d say.
Top content my amigo 🎉
Need to do a part 2. Michael and Brian Laudrup are better than their Dad.
Daley Blind possibly.
Thiago and Rafinha. Maybe.
Pepe Reina. Maybe again.
Hi Alfie
Can you do a video on the PSV Eindhoven treble winners from 1987-88?
I feel like this team is never spoken of, compared to any other treble winning side
You should look into the Alonso family.
His Grandfather is a Madrid legend and his father also player for them.
All 3 of them went on to represent Spain at the National level. Not sure if anyone else has had this kind of success.
Can you make one of these videos about footballers who are brothers?
Do one on Fathers being better than sons such as Abedi Pele better than Jordan and Andre Ayew and Onandi Lowe who was a star for Rushden and Diamonds and Jamaica being better than his son Damion Lowe.
I can't wait until we have a son that's as godly as their father.
Wow!!!This is an extremely so fascinating topic, mainly when there are some of the respective Interracial players who have thrived this sport more than their respective fathers and the first inclusion where,if the legendary Paulo Maldini sir chose to play for Slovenia instead of Italy, the national team could have at least be in the top 100 in the FIFA World Rankings!!!The most fascinating stuff is about the French legend Youri Djorkaeff sir who has French,Polish,Mongolian and Armenian heritages through his ancestries who could have have played for the three of the latter respective national teams but for sure, they must surely speak their respective ancesterial languages to their respective people and follow the respective ancestrials' traditions daily and ever in this world and other planets, good friends!!!LONG LIVES TO ALL OF THEM RESPECTIVELY,GOOD FRIENDS!!!:-D
HM to the Alonsos, where we have a peculiar case of one son being (arguably) better (Xabi) and the other worse (Mikel), than their father (Periko).
Frank Lampard, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jamie Redknapp, Erling Harland, Jack Cork, Michael Owen, probably Charlie savage
This is the perfect list at the perfect timing for Pele to be at no. 1 but you left him out entirely
I think you missed the point of the video bro...
@@hananidrisi6436 Pele's father was a footballer
@@michaelboden4177 he wasn't a great footballer which is why Pele didnt feature
@@hananidrisi6436 He WAS a good enough footballer that he would've in the Selecão for 1950 but his injuries left him unable to participate
We need a part 2 Alfie!!
"Ragnar Klavan" and you got me, FCA Legend
Missing Michael Laudrup. Even played a few minutes with his dad if I remember correctly. Otherwise cool video!
Messi,Ronaldo,Mbappe,Suarez,Van dijk, de bruyne, benzema. There you go
Michael Laudrup (and Brian Laudrup), with father Finn Laudrup are also a good shout
Hey really like your videos. I recently found out that since the WC 1982 in every final there is at least one Bayern player Munich player.
Can you do a video of 7 clubs with the most appearances in the World Cup final match
Happy new year
Gudjohnson and Djorkaeff were among the first that came to mind for me
I totally lost it at 4:20 with the doppelganger curveball.
Romarinho and Rivaldinho sounds too wierd to be made up
You didn't add these:
1.Sergio Busquets enjoyed a great success with Barcelona and Spain compared to Carles.
2.Rio Ferdinand's Manchester United won numerous Premier League titles and 2008 CL, which is better than his father (Les) and brother (Anton).
Les Ferdinand isn't Rio and Anton's dad lmao they're cousins and the Busquets duo got an honorable mention
I always found it interesting how a Superstar player can have a average son whilst a average player can have a Superstar player
12:15 Brian Bosworth or The Dog? Either way it's one hell of a mullet.
Calling Joe Wilkinson a comedian is a bit offensive to talented hard working comedians don’t ya think…?
😂😂😂
Hah!
