  • In this video we'll see how to start developing themes for a Shopify store. We'll go through the process of creating a development store and setting up a local development environment. Then we'll see how to connect the theme to Github to keep the content in sync and avoid unwanted conflicts and overwrites.

    Thanks very much for such an in-depth video. It's really hard to find quality content to learn the platform that feels aimed at developers. Much appreciated and looking forward to learning with more of your videos.

      I'm glad to hear you're finding it useful! I don't have tutorials on developing a theme from scratch yet but it might be something I consider in the future, thanks for the suggestion.

    For some reason when I change the heading (i.e. - local) and hit save it is updating the live system and my local server.

    I have a question about whether I integrate GitHub with Shopify then I have duplicated the theme to install an App. So now what to do in this type case?
    I think if I duplicate the theme then it will not work with the GitHUB. Please correct me if I am wrong.

      You can run the shopify theme pull command to pull the changes the app made in the new theme into your local theme repository, then commit and push the changes to Github and they should be in your main theme.

    have a question. in .toml file [environments.development], does the "development" word is a constant or it is the name of our local environment? I mean can we use ex.[environments.mydev]. Thanks

      @stackingcontext  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you can use any other word there, mydev would work too.
