  • Welcome SRFC Family to our Summer Devotional Series!
    Today's verse is Psalm 62:3-8 -
3 How long will you assault me? Would all of you throw me down- this leaning wall, this tottering fence? 4 Surely they intend to topple me from my lofty place; they take delight in lies.
With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse. 5 Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.
6 Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. 7 My salvation and my honor depend on God ;he is my mighty rock, my refuge. 8 Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
How would you define REST in our Heavenly Father?
When was the last time you slowed down and rested at the feet of Jesus?
Pray and ask God to show you areas of your life you can slow down and rest.

How I would define rest in Jesus, (and be warned I’m likely very far off base with this), is a calming of the spirit, a surrender of stresses, anxieties, and worries, a peace, a quiet time more than just a moment, and physical relaxation during which you are focusing on the goodness and faithfulness of God, and soaking up His presence. Some, or all of that may apply simultaneously for rest in Jesus, by my approximation and definition.
I try at least once a weekend, either Friday or Saturday to spend a couple hours in the presence and rest of The Lord. And I do try to incorporate as much of what I stated above in that time as possible. Results vary, but it’s always well spent time.
