This video shows how to dupe the bottomless box and its contents of one character onto a new character without deleting the original character with the items.
STEP 1: Fill all ten character save slots
STEP 2: Load character with items and transfer all items to BB
STEP 3: Select New Game and OK at character deletion prompt
STEP 4: Highlight character with items
STEP 5: Press Triangle/Y
NOTE: This is where the actual glitch occurs, when triangle/y is pressed the character's information that was highlighted gets loaded into a "cache". This cache, for whatever reason, does not get unloaded unless you deviate from the instructions. When you create a new character, the cache, which is filled with data on the BB, covenant stats and asylum NPC/mob deaths, is transferred to the new character when it is created.
STEP 6: Press Triangle/Y AGAIN
STEP 7: Highlight character to be overwritten NOTE: DO NOT USE FIRST SAVE SLOT OTHERWISE GLITCH MAY NOT WORK
STEP 8: Press X/A
STEP 9: Create new character (you can choose any class/setup)
STEP 10: Play game and acquire BB ASAP
NOTE: Oscar (the estus guy) may be dead, so quit and reload where he is and the estus+key should be on the ground.
STEP 11: Access BB and items from other character should be there
NOTE: Other character was not deleted and items remained

This is for people who got REALLY tired of the game's shenanigans.
Yes, you'll be able to summon people for help. This glitch also allows you to put soapstones/orbs into the BB and transfer them to new characters so that you can enjoy more online components earlier than you normally would.
This makes me so happy. I've legit farmed for 3 characters the upgrade material to ... whatever, i don't have to farm any more for a new character, and I don't feel bad. People who say this is cheap or ruins the game simply have not put the time into farming that I have. This is great and will give me the option to try new characters without farming insane amounts every time.
You have to create a new character for the BB to be transfered. The only way to transfer items to an already created character is to summon someone, drop the items, have them pick it up, go on the other character, summon the person again and have them drop those items for you to pick them up.
Yes, if I'm understanding you correctly. The first version of the BB glitch deletes the original file/character, the second version (this one) doesn't. See my earlier BB glitch video.
Basically. The only negative consequences are that Oscar, the guy who gives you estus in asylum may be dead, so quit and reload at his spot to pick up the key/estus. Also, keep covenant rewards in your BB if you want to receive them again.
Yes, as long as you put the flame in the BB, you can get it and equip it once you get the BB.
I agree it can be discouraging to be destroyed by people much stronger for most. For me, it added to the game and made it more challenging. You can always play offline until you are ready. That's what I do.
1) This glitch still works today (patch 1.05)
2) You'll be able to transfer all your items, excluding spells and key/story items like embers and keys, from your older character to a new character in a different save slot without deleting it
3) You can do this glitch online or offline
@Exzadara615 1) I'm not sure what you mean by account. The BB glitch has no effect on any other characters or "accounts".
2) No, no need to delete current patch. BB glitch works on the current patch (1.05) all the way back to original (v1.0). Though if you want to use dragon head, snuggly, and other glitches, you'd have to delete patch.
Yeah, I tried today, changed everything from name, to class, to physique, to gift, to hair, even to colour of skin and face, the two characters looked nothing alike but it still worked, thank you kind sir you just made my black knight build (78 endurance FTW)
You'll have to go to Domnhall of Zena to get BB. He's in the Depths right before the Blighttown door. After that he moves to underneath the aquaduct near firelink shrine.
I'd recommend you either stay on patch 1.04 and do the glitch and collect the items and then update, or update first and then do the glitch just to be safe because your file may become corrupted.
I'm glad some people see that this glitch makes PvP more accessible.
To solve the problem would be to allow people to transfer items in between characters, and remove the glitch. You could also just fix the glitch, but that just makes people stop playing. And their are worse problems with the game. Like
Giants armour, or dragon head roar spamming, ohko Dragonslayer bow backstabbing. Backstabbing in general, Twop, wog. All of those are worse than the BB glitch which only really affects low level play.
@MasterAnselmoPhil So the deleted/overwritten character's covenant rank is not transferred, nothing is transferred at all. It is the character that you press triangle/Y on that has it's rank/BB transferred. So, in theory (I haven't tested this out), if the character you are BB glitching is in darkwraiths, then it's rank will be transferred to the new character and if you transferred the orb as well, you should be able to use it to invade people.
I'm actually not sure if the undead merchant will be alive on the new character but it's certainly possible that he'll be dead. You'll have to go to Domhnall of Zena before Blighttown entrance or under the firelink aquaduct. There's evidence that somethings other than items can transferred. You may find the guy that gives estus flask in the beginning of the game dead because that data got transferred. Some people reported problems with covenants and not being able to get rewards.
If you're planning on duplicating in the nearby future, when it asks you to patch your game just say no, you'll be disconnected from online, but I don't think you need it for this glitch.
What you could do is skip the rest of the game with the BB glitch. For example, you need 3 Sif souls, so instead of going through the entire game just to fight Sif again, you can BB glitch to restart the game and get to Sif again with the souls/weapons stashed in your BB.
I just tried this today I copied the items from my main 1st save slot to my 3rd slot and it worked perfectly. Thanks for the vid.
@BMXMarkos I feel your pain, I lost a 37 twink with 50 hours learning the original BB glitch. This is definitely a dangerous glitch if not done properly.
This glitch is over 6 months old and definitely works.
Yes, you can change classes when creating the new character that receives the BB items.
Actually, if you're playing the game unpatched it works. I just did it right now, had to make my way to the merchant in the sewers but it didn't take that long. Cheers!
This doesn't work on the PC version of the game (I have the PS3 version too, and I have done it before), so my guess is when the new DLC comes to consoles they're gonna patch this, so if you're planning on using this glitch, DO IT NOW!!!. Thumbs up so people can see
I think it refers to the slot where you place the new character and overwrite the old one. So I think it is safe for your mule to be on the first slot, but better to be safe than sorry so don't use the first slot for BB glitching.
You'll have to level the covenant down (join other covenants and rejoin) and then up again to get the item, but even then it may not work. Also, it is recommended to keep all covenant rewards in the BB when dealing with said covenant.
You don't have to delete patch/update to do this glitch, unless the game has been patched since I last played (v1.05). You can do this in online mode.
It doesn't corrupt the save file, the save file will just be unusable until you update the game from v1.0 back to current version (1.07).
No, NPCs are reset every NG (every time you beat the game) except for the guy that gives you estus flask in the beginning of the game, but even then it's not a problem. Don't worry about this.
actually, i use this to help low level people in areas such as the burg and the parish. i never grief with it, it's just nice to know i dont have to beat the game low level to be able to help people
Yes. Make sure you keep covenant related items in your BB though, otherwise you won't get the spells/rewards again.
ahhh thanks a ton for putting this vid up. i've been trying to restart my game legitimately but kept getting invaded by low level griefers. since i did this glitch i've already killed two of the bastards (: and i look forward to many more. thanks a bunch for the video!

Claymore and Zweihander is still my two favorite swords in this game.
Incidentally they still had to get through to get the items they wanted to transfer. To transfer enough that the person has "finished the game" they would have had to complete the game in the first place.

@libertah The character doesn't have to be naked. You don't have to put everything in the BB, so you can leave the firebombs in hand.
Never heard of that happening before. The original character should be untouched with this method. Maybe you are entering the inventory screen, not the BB screen, and seeing that everything is gone on the original character because it has all been moved to BB storage?
Can be fixed by leveling covenant down by joining, joining another covenant and then rejoining. Also, all covenant related items/rewards should be kept in BB (orbs, equipment, etc.)
This isn't the first time I've heard of the glitches suddenly not working, so this is pretty strange. Try reinstalling Dark Souls. Delete game data, but not save file, and then repatch. If that doesn't work, try making a new psn user and then glitch to your hearts content with v1.0 Dark Souls and patch the game when you're ready. Good luck.
Now that I think about it, doing the character deletion version of the BB glitch would not help you since it's the same glitch, just different buttons pressed.
i know and that's why i offer them a new and improved glitch.
to finish the game without even playing it, so they won't have to play through the game to complete it.
this is a reason why people play with more than one character and it is to try new gameplay (and maybe story). the experince is damaged when you make the journey too easy.
i like playing like it's my first time. and not to pretend that i'm playing a videogame
If you killed him with something like black firebombs, instead of doing the whole run around. He wont give you the key sometimes. Go talk to the guy who gives you the estus flask. Of course, he is probably dead. Go to where he is, and quit/reload your game. You should get the estus flask, big pilgrims key, and the other key he gives you.
78 end, if you rock a full black knight set with shield and BKGA you have 53 weight. 78 end with Havel's and FaP gives you 212.4 max equip load, it is a roleplaying build but it works if PvP too (big suprise lol) however full BK set only gives 50 poise...
Not sure what you're asking. You have an original character, call it the mule, and a dummy character that will be overwritten to create a new character. I f you do this glitch properly, the dummy will be overwritten and the new character will have all the items that the mule put in the BB once it gets the BB.
Works one every patch 1.00-1.05. You'll have to go to Domnhall of Zena in Depths to get the BB.
It just means to select the character. You'll have it highlighted when it's red/orange eg. 2:34 Aeris is highlighted.
The only way to transfer items between characters is to drop them to someone you summoned and have them drop it to you when you are on the other character.
@88shogunrua To be safe you may want to leave covenant on the character you are duplicating. There's only been minor glitches that don't break the game and this glitch is quite safe. Anything in bottomless box can be transferred.
Just used it today, and it worked fine, been helping out low levels with a Iatio +15.
If you manage to kill the Asylum Demon on your first attempt, Oscar of Astora(?) will give you the Big Pilgrim's Key with the F2 key. This is to ensure you remember to pick up your class' weapons before leaving the asylum.
actually it helps the community since it makes it way easier to create pvp characters wich makes more people go back into pvp.
@xThunderxWolfx Yes. I highly recommend testing with worthless characters. Many people, including myself, lost valuable characters learning/discovering this glitch.
78 END!? That sounds pretty unique. Haven't thought of endurance gouging. On my PvP builds, most I've raised it to was 45.
@TheHatmanTheHitokori The only way to transfer equipment between accounts and characters (to my knowledge) is to arrange a deliberate summon and drop the items on the ground, let the person pick them up, then repeat the process with a new BB glitched mule.
Though this can take a lot of time and you may be better off just getting items legitly and BB glitching. This method is probably only worth it to dupe large quantities of items.
Although that phantom could have just played without leveling his character until he got those weapons, to be able to beat lowbies with them. But I guess the evil intent stays.
PAY ATTENTION GUYS: Covenant could be a problem!

My observation with Covenant:
- My Level 119 is Sunbro +1.
- Glitched New Char starts with no covenant.
- When I joined Sunbro, New Char was Sunbro +1! (without giving any medals!) BUT!!!!!!!! I did not earn any Spell from that Covenant!!!!!!! I gave also 10 new medals to the shrine, but still, nothing happened.
So people, be careful with this!
this glitch doesnt work anymore, the knight you kill that gives u the estus and key isnt their when i try it....
@afternoonpizza You should try absolving your sin at Oswald below the gargoyle bell in parish which gets rid of NPC aggro before doing this glitch and restarting the game to solve your Kaathe/Frampt prob. Make sure you keep covenant related items (such as orbs, signs, etc.) in bottomless box otherwise it may prevent you from acquiring covenant rewards on the new character. It's not clear whether rank transfers because it's not shown on status screen.

Sorry to hear that a twink took the challenge out of your boss. Most do it to show off or to accumulate souls. Phantoms can't take host's loot btw.
They are in artorias of the abyss. I heard it will have organized 4 player PVP. You can do 1v1, 2v2, or 4 player free for all
@JmdMagic You'd need a partner to transfer items from one existing character to another existing character. This glitch only allows you to transfer contents of BB from an existing character to a brand new character.
Exactly, I love helping out new people, too many people trying to be assholes just to be out to kill new players, and they're justification is... "It's a hard game for a reason, I'm just here to make it harder."
ATTENTION: this method will fuck up your covenant ranks and rewards. If you BB glitch from a character in the darkmoon covenant who's already got the darkmoon blade then you won't be able to get it again on another character.
I believe I heard that you can't BB glitch characters on the first save slot. You'd have to give all your items to someone so they can give them back to a character not on the first slot.
You would still need to acquire the weapon somehow in the first place before you can BB glitch. Same goes for spells, but spells aren't transferable through this glitch.
@GreqoryRF You can only copy 1 BB to a character at a time. If you take items out of the BB then they don't get copied. You can keep doing the BB glitch from one character to a second to a third etc. as much as you need.
You would have to drop the items on the ground for someone to pick up. Then you go on another character which was BB glitched get the items back from the someone, or drop again to repeat the process. If you have 100 of an item, see my video in the description for actual duping.
@TheAmazingTarkus No. You have to create a new character that will only get either the 71's or the 69's BB.
This will work on v1.0 which is what you get when you remove all patches and remove dlc content.
Ah, of course. I was curious because it would make life easier on certain weapons you need from boss souls.

The Asylum Demon didn't give me the key to the door like he is supposed to when I killed him.
Sorry I didn't make it clear. I usually choose pyro/masters key because it is the best startup (overall and for me).
if you don't need to summon help for a boss fight or something like that then you should just be playing hollow anyway...don't reverse hollowing unless you have a reason to such as kindling bonfires...I played half the game before getting invaded (because I was always hollow)...now I reverse hollowing regularly just for the fun of getting invaded. Being in human form isn't required for you to play the game and enjoy it...you don't even need to play offline...just don't reverse hollowing.

I literally started recording when I and someone else discovered this, so I didn't want to lose my best character in case this didn't work.
I realize now why I was invaded on my level 25 character by a similar level character who had maxed out equipment...
You have to patch the game, in v1.00 Dark Souls, the undead merchant doesn't have the BB.
I really don't see why people get so asspained over this, all it does is eliminate grinding forever just to try out a magic/dex/whatever you didn't make character, it's not like it makes the game 100 times easier because if you beat the game once you'll be able to do it again, the enemies don't magically become harder on a second character.
Also this doesn't make PvP unfair because PvP has ALWAYS been unfair. Besides you can easily kill somebody when they try to use humanity to heal themselves.
I love this glitch, i don't use it to get 99 slabs, i've used it to start the game with all un-upgreaded xanthous set and un-upgreaded notched whip, so i can play the game as king jeremiah!!!
@StillTheNaytch Back in December someone translated instructions for this glitch from Japanese to English on GameFaqs, nite I believe. The translations didn't include 1 key step, to press something. I tried the instructions on a character with 50 hours and it was overwritten and the glitch failed. I found the problem and posted my instructions in the original. You might find comments where people rage about losing their characters in the original video since human error exists.
Man those ethical debates are getting old . BB glitch saves me a lot of time, so its a good thing for me .
And i couldnt care less about other peoples standards .
Oh and i wil play the upcoming DLC on my SL120 non BBglitched Character on NG+.

Youd' have to summon you know or arranged to summon, give it to them and then hop on your other character to get it back from the other person.
I'm pretty sure the only way to get 99 is to have someone else give them to you (of whom already had other people donate theirs) or to collect them through each playthrough yourself...or a combination of both.
Well, that is aside from using hacks on PC and Xbox 360...
@SilentJayy I've heard of this kind of problem. Quitting covenant by joining another will rank it down and rejoining when it's +0 may work to fix it. Emphasis on may since I can't confirm it myself.
No, you should get a friend or arrange for muling to transfer stuff to existing characters. No, you don't have to put everything in the box.
If u deleted ur update and went back to 1.0 neither the merchant nor andrei sells it , the guy in the depths Domhnall of Zena will sell it :)
Oh, well. I ended up doing it anyway (twice, since I forgot some items the first time) and it worked both times. Thank you, though.
@Hellmasker338 - You must have at least 200MP (more actually) otherwise it won't ever work. It'll start but then immediately stop.
Other than that it's gotta be really fast. I'm right handed and it's easier if I put the catalyst (I use talisman of beasts) on R1.
1.Have firespray ready.
2. Press R1, then immediately switch to firestorm and face towards the screen and then forwards again.
3. Just a matter of timing i think. :S
@88shogunrua you can also buy it of the merchant under the bridge after u ring the second bell
If oswald isn't there just quit and reload, the estus flask and key should be where he died
@Rpedro45 No, only 1 character can put items in a BB box at a bonfire to transfer to a new character.
Yes, and if you have the souls it can level your alt almost instantly to 120 or whatever.
So that means i can't use this glitch in PTD edition?
I was using a Playstation 3 with vanilla Dark Souls. If you mean the Prepare to Die edition on PC then probably not. You are welcome to try though.

@PeeGeek You might not have updated your game. If the BB is not at the burg merchant then you'll have to go to Domnhall of zena in the depths before the blighttown door to get the BB.
@damainmg All upgrade materials, weapons, including boss, and rings can be transferred using this glitch. Estus cannot be transferred along with duplicates of story items like keys, embers, and some covenant rewards. Spells also can't be transferred.
so in essence you could repeat this over and over, sweet.
as of March 21,2012 this still works fine..ty much love the game beat it.. time to have fun with it befor trading the game in..
