***** ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ***** I left out a few important details so I made a video with additional information: th-cam.com/video/uBp8uVbW1us/w-d-xo.html
Dude I'm probably late, but thanks for the demonstration. I've watched a lot of tutorials on this, but what made the difference here was that you showed how you were late with the bed explosion. Seeing the comparison of you being late vs on time really helped me finally succeed in this. Thank you.
Dude thank you. I had probably spent 2 in game hours on Emma's practice world and i couldn't even get the dragon to half health. After watching this video I can easily do a 7 bed or less.
That’s awesome! Keep practicing. You’ll be doing 4 beds soon. I found that setting FoV to max (90) and turning on hit boxes works best. You might have different results. Thanks for the comment!
@@boomerplayz1 Yeah I run 95 FOV and am using the hit boxes. But its just crazy to me how I went from not even getting it to half health to killing it every time albeit it having to use "more than ideal" beds. This video helped more than any I found lol
@@revan4130 Not sure if you watched my follow up to that video, but I missed a few things in the original and posted in this video: th-cam.com/video/uBp8uVbW1us/w-d-xo.html
This is the first tutorials which explains the points of the compass, cause i wondered why sometimes the head isn't above my bed. I'm so glad I finally found it.
Really well done. Filled in the gaps I have from what I've picked up watching speedrunners and the educational tidbits that those like Couriway will throw in as they're doing no-reset runs. Others will do it when asked, but he volunteers it if he's not on pace for wr, or pb, which is still wr for him. I'll direct anyone with questions to your video and other content, because I've found your stuff helpful before.
absolutely amazing video! got me able to do 6 bed one cycles in under 10 mins with no prior practice! The introduction beforehand was super useful in figuring out how the dragon perches. Keep up the good work and I'll definitely be watching your other tutorials!
if your practicing timing and dont wanna wait for the dragon to perch use this command /execute as @e[type=ender_dragon] run data modify entity @s DragonPhase set value 3
Also when you're at the top of the tower at Y=123 and the dragon fireballs you, since as you said the fireball doesn't actually hit you directly, you can just wait until it does hit you (the breath takes a bit of time to actually activate itself) and tower up 1 block
@@astiengreenhart it does not, you might believe it’s the case as the breath does expand on the outside, but it does not go upwards. Try it out for yourself and you’ll see that it’s true !
The reason why speedrunners used to tower up was because it was statistically found by a runner named jojoe that the chances that the dragon perches quicker, increases by gaining distance from the end fountain. Besides that I love your editing! Good video. :)
You're welcome! Also, in case you missed it, I left out a few important details when I made this video. Here's a short video covering those things: th-cam.com/video/uBp8uVbW1us/w-d-xo.html
@@boomerplayz1 you know, you actually helped me get my nearly first speedrun completion. Unfortunately, I fricked up the one cycle because I didn't scroll properly. Still, 32 mins would have been a good time!
@@boomerplayz1 well, I got my first completion two days ago: 47 mins. Yesterday, I lost a 40 min run to burning to death 1 second before the credits (I'd killed the dragon but walked into fire from the one cycle) Still, couldn't have done either without this vid, so ty again. Update: pb of 37:49. :D
Thanks! I figured it would help to see things slown down a bit. The rhythm part where I use numbers to select beds and right-click to place/explode was still a bit difficult to see, but I think it gets the point across.
Since this is related to the topic of this video, I would really like to share a map that allows us to practice the one-cycle from beggining to end. Emma's map TP us just before the perch of the dragon, and this other map by jojoe77777 TP us right at the end plateform (always at the east, so that when we arrive at the middle we're always facing west, so if we go east/west we know we just have to place the block in front of us etc. this is a thing that could be mentionned in the video^^, as well as the differences between E/W and N/S, N/S being the fastest although it is way harder cause the dragon perches lower, so faster and really have to be at the pillar early to not miss it. That's why unless going for pretty low time, this may be more recommended to do E/W...) I find it really useful because you should definitely practice the whole processus of the end fight before going into runs (otherwise they can be really bad surprises), the end is reset each time, you can custom your inventory (have a boat so that you can stuck the endermen in it if you accidentaly made eye contact with one!) and even see the different phases of the dragon on the scoreboard (can be toggled). The map : th-cam.com/users/redirect?event=video_description&redir_token=QUFFLUhqblFleTZSMjJJMC1qRzZ3R3VmczI0anZ0ZXdrQXxBQ3Jtc0ttYUtZM19pNWg2Q1dfYVEwbTBXdldNYk5iN2E4U3Y4el82RHpVeWJaRDB4MFZBSzFSQ2NabWF0SU4wX2JqMVpVeU82OW45WXZtRkd1Rm1uOW9seUtMM2VfTTdFNG53N0NHem92T2xnNzN5ZmttaDBFSQ&q=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2Fjojoe77777%2FPerchPractice%2Freleases%2Flatest%2Fdownload%2FPerchPractice.zip
I completely agree! Practicing the end from beginning to end is extremely helpful. Emma's is good for timing and repetition, but practicing the entire process is extremely valuable.
You talked about how annoying it is that the dragon switch side of head but never mentionned that you should go to the side of its head before ! Also, I know you didn't mention diagonal perches to avoid confusion, but this may still have been useful so that people don"t stand between east and south, just a bit to east and think that it's gonna perch east, whereas it's gonna perch diagonal east/south.
Dang it! You’re totally right! I have footage related to identifying the side to go to based on which side the head is swinging and I totally forgot about it. I should also at least mention to look out diagonal perches and what might cause one. I’ve been trying to get this video out for a couple days and just screwed up. I really appreciate you pointing this out. I’m going to revise and repost. Thanks!!!
11:43 the delay between when you click and when the click will not be the same everytime because that depends on your mouse but also on when you are whiting the tick
Unrelated to this video, but could you do a video on divine travel? (Fossel Origin Identifying, How it works) I don't have enough time to watch the 1 Hour video about it and I think you would be perfect for explaining that
Absolutely! I've been thinking about that for a while now. I'm fascinated by how it works and that Matthew Bolan was able to figure it out. Now that the 1.16 RSG WR really brought it to light, I'm sure lots of people would like a thorough yet concise video.
You don't necessarily need a short pillar, but you definitely want to wait on the side opposite a tall pillar or pillars. The taller the pillar on the side the dragon begins its perch, the higher it will begin the switchbacks, giving you more time to get into position. I've found that when you're waiting in either the north or south and, opposite where you're waiting, one pillar is tall and the other is short (like in this video), the short one causes the dragon to have a low perch approach. I'm sure there's more to it, but I haven't quite figured out that part yet. Does this make sense?
I'm having a problem after a couple beds where the dragon changes its rotation direction. first couple beds are able to deal good damage but after the dragon changes direction it takes less damage and I can't even 5 bed it anymore. Idk if I'm doing something wrong or if the game is just being weird. This doesn't happen every time, just enough to be very frustrating.
How can u put the blocks in the practise maps i got some error when I tried to press the obsidian block in the spawn. Then I broke the signs and they are no longer there even if I restart the map
What you think a one-cycle is: Wait a minute or 2, notice the dragon perching, pearl in, one-cycle it. Realistically: Wait 9 fucking minutes for the thing to stop fireballing you. Don't notice the perch because you fell asleep from waiting. Waste your pearl, dragon breaks the bed when you place it. Run around trying to kill endermen. Meanwhile NOW the dragon wants to perch THREE FUCKING TIMES. Then once you finally have the pearl wait SEVEN MORE MINUTES BECAUSE NOW IT CHANGED ITS MIND AND DOESN'T WANT TO PERCH. I hate this stupid fucking game
