    That place has some LLOOOONNNNNGGGGGG straights. I think anyone going there should/would be a bit intimidated by the sheer speed. You did well grasshopper. First time at such a legendary speed palace. Sure you wanted to do better. You put it back on the trailer in one piece and will run another day. Tanner, Rome wasn't built in a day! Takes time to get things figured out. You got a great team. Scruffy on the wrenches , the rest of the team doin' their thing. I saw Carly there during the intro. A great learning experience. Be like a sponge and soak it ALL in. Shoot , Steve, Sammy, Danny ,Mark, Donnie , all them guys took a while for them to get as good as they did. Be patient my friend. DAMN!! Those straights a so long. Looks like you have time to pull a few tear offs, tighten your belts, grab some wing, adjust your brake bias and then maybe pull a few more tear offs. I'm guessing the pucker factor is pretty high at the end of the straights. I never realized how tight the corners are either. You moved forward in your heat and B main right? That's a positive. Good luck at Port

  • @michaellane1316
    @michaellane1316 ปีที่แล้ว

    With the corners being different, from the video footage being shot, it looked like you had it somewhat figured out. The gearing and rev limit would be neutralizing near the end of the straights, the power band of the cam and breathing would or could be saturated enough to dump exit speeds. You looked good though, am sure the wrenches knew every aspect of how to gitter done though. Pulling the wheels on that corner at the end of the heat race relates to some hard hook up which tells me the track had plenty of moisture and you had the gearing . Would have been nice to know what rpm you were turning and speed when that happened. All in all, it appeared to have been a great learning exp. for you and the team as they are feeling you out on different tracks. It was amazing to watch those cars head down those long straights. Every track should have their own personality as does this one. Watching the nascar drivers struggle with certain speedways is a testimony to not all drivers are created equal in the sense of who manages to win at tracks they cannot conquer. If you watch all of the top drivers in this sport, one will see, most have taken a very long time to get there. Few manage stardom right out of the gate. Earned Tanner, not given. Therefore when you achieve your goals you'll have then, the wisdom that the elite have now. It all will come in time.

    Great track and great race. I'm just wondering if any tracks have ever experimented with a rating system leading up to the A main, that is based on the number of cars passed (positions gained) rather than, or perhas as well as, absolute finishing position. It seems that having passed so many cars in the earlier races, Tanner really deserved to transfer.

    • @busher69
      @busher69 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's a few formats used at some tracks special events. Tulare's Trophy Cup uses an inverted heat, dash and main event race format that awards passing everytime the cars hit the track. The Trophy Cup in Tulare is usually the best race in California each year. If you live close to Central California, invest in the 4 day trip and go. To succeed with the Outlaws you have to qualify in the top tier every night. Then you have to pass cars and move forward in your heat race. If you don't move forward in your heat, you just threw away your good qualifying time and your night is pretty much over. If you have to run the B Main. You can kinda save your night with a top 10 in the A Main. As good as Tanner did for his first night at Williams Grove, he didn't qualify well and he didn't move forward to a transfer out of his heat race. Then he didn't move forward enough in the B Main to transfer out of the B into the A Main. As much as it disappoints to do your best and still not be good enough that night, you know what you have to do tomorrow night, qualify in the top tier, pass cars and mover forward to a transfer out of your heat race, then mover forward in the A Main. If you don't do any of those 3 things, you just repeated what you did last night. That's why running with the Outlaws is so hard. You have to be consistently fast every night right off the trailer. It's a brutal schedule and the lows far and away outnumber the highs. Only the very strong survive to become among the best. Time will tell if Tanner and Carly have what it takes to get there. We're all pullin' for both of them to do well on this road. Whatever comes to both of them the next several years, these years will stick with them the rest of their lives. There is nothing more fun then being involved with a sprint car team, the sprint car community and sprint car racing. There's nothing like it. GO T & C
