I think this is my favourite song about cheating, because the feeling is different than usual. Maybe because it's specifically about the regret of cheating and the all-consuming guilt of it, rather than being the victim of cheating or trying to paint the cheater in a good light despite being a cheater. It's about the immense regret and guilt over one night they keep going over and over again that cost them what sounds like either a long-term girlfriend or even fiancee, considering they were living together.
I think you hit the nail on the head, and also (I think in no small part thanks to the video) it comes off as almost supernatural; has very Odysseus and Penelope vibes to it somehow
Exactly. Not everyone is gonna forgive the cheater, and the cheater isn't gonna always be proud of what they did. This song is so realistic on how it would feel.
As a 20-something who grew up in the 90s and early 2000s, I would always pretend to hate everything BSB and NSYNC because you were a "teen girl" or "tween girl" if you didn't. same age :)) I don't quite remember my age when I started to listen to one of their songs: I want it that way, Show me the meaning of being lonely, larger than life. Those 3 songs made my childhood more richer than any fine gold... So much nostalgia
+Laura Guerro-This was definitely a song from a different time where the artists didn't romanticize cheating or believed they were in the right to cheat in the first place. The narrator of this song realized that he f'd up pretty bad, he doesn't blame the girl for somehow driving him away into the arms of another woman, he doesn't even blame the friend who eventually found out he was cheating and told the girlfriend what was going on to where their relationship was destroyed. Their relationship was destroyed because of what he did, and he realizes that, and he also realizes it's too late to go back and make things right, the damage is done and he is left to deal with what he caused to be set into motion. It's something way too self aware and humble for the current breed of boy tarts to ever cover.
I will never stop loving the wonderful music these guys made in my childhood. They made it fun. I even memorized the ad libs lol. The day I get to meet just one of them my whole country shall know lol 😆☺
A terrific 2nd tier piece by the BSB ... when they break into the CHOIR HARMONY at the 2:00 mark, it shows their true performing talent. Their runs of hits from "I Want it That Way" to "Drowning" was second to none ... Damn, they delivered !
That makes all of us but i dunno why they remixed it for the video this was the good version i had the hits chapter one and i cant count how many times i listened to that lol
Me: near crying overwhelmed with both nostalgia for childhood and resonating so badly with the whole "i know it's fucked up but i just want to feel alive for once" kinda vibe of it Everyone else: I can't hear the fart
Much better imo than the backstreet vevo version. Of course When it came out this is what I heard to I got thrown aback when trying to reminisce a little that new version intercepted me...

wow, blast from the past! my favorite was Kevin, glass of tall dark and handsome and in the video for this song he never looked better! (though i am feeling Howie with the long hair :P)
No one can replace BSB. They're amazing and always will be. Just saw them yesterday at a concert. IT WAS LIT omg who knew people still had talent after 25 years (their anniversary I can’t wait!!! They said they’re going to release a new album soon!!) but of course they are the BSB, only they can
I got to see them too! They were AMAZING on stage! (I saw them in Hershey, Pennsylvania, which is were i live) (Obviously i don't live in Hershey. I live probably about an hour away from there)

How would it have been easier to cheat before texting? You don't have to physically be around someone, and you don't even have to be in a phone call with them to communicate.
***** You don't have to use smartphones, It's a choice that you make. And you don't HAVE to use your real name online, I don't. This account has a fake name, and is attached to an email that uses a fake name, which I use for the majority of my online accounts. I do have a facebook account, but I never use it. Of course, I ain't a social butterfly, but you probably get the point. You make the choice fully knowing that you lose anonymity. You trade your anonymity for the convenience and freedom of talking to people easily. Oh, and I highly doubt someone would go through the trouble of going through all my comments on a website... Even most trolls usually don't do that.
***** You could still get a basic model flip phone. I highly doubt a flip phone's gonna track your every movement... And it wouldn't leave much of a trail of things. Still a choice you make, even if your job somehow requires a cellphone. Also, you could disable the gps, and a smartphone doesn't automatically leave a "digital trail". It's still a choice you make, in exchange for something that you find more valuable than anonymity.
I'm not sure if anyone else can hear this, but the chorus has the same exact chord progression as Baby One More Time by Britney Spears.. Just faster and in a different key
I'm more familiar with Baby One More Time but I did grow up equally with Britney and the Backstreet Boys. She should have collaborated with NSYNC since she and Justin were in the 90's Mickey Mouse Club.
I still don't mind listening to a few of their songs from time to time. I think it is mostly because their music isn't complicated. It young peoples relationships in general, that's it. Too much of the today's music has so much tied to it. Most need nearly naked girls, fighting, drug use and similar things like that in the video to help sell it. A lot of the meanings of the songs often mean other things as well. But starting from The Beatles to The Monkeys to The New Kids on the Block to The Backstreet Boys and N'Sync, their music is merely about young romances and being hip. It is easy listening.
You hit the nail right on the head. Music back in the 90s and early 00s wasn't nearly as complex when you compare it to the music we have playing today.
Same lol!! I'm wondering if it's the sound at 2:10, a few seconds before. I mean, it does sound like a fart, but idk.. either that or they hid it pretty well! Sneaky Pete's, hehe
one of my favorite BSB songs from their best album in my opinion!! i remember i first heard this song back at a wedding reception i went to when i was a child and me and my mother were the only black ppl invited :) but i had so much fun!
This song is a masterpiece. AJ owned this song I love his vocals.
They're vocals are fantastic
AJ is simply fantastic. His voice is so unique.
@@joy_to and his solo too
And his fart🤣🤣
@@jessetuominen4941 ooooo9oko
This song reminds me of my hidden youth. A fantastic song I couldn't admit loving. Now I'm 37, I can happily say I LOVE IT!
i am 37 too and a biiigg fan of this song and the video was epic and of course BSB.
I haven’t heard the song in years….. but I still know EVERY word
So you're happily proud to admit you're gay?
I always loved it and wasn't ashamed.

Great point 💯🎯
Exactly. Not everyone is gonna forgive the cheater, and the cheater isn't gonna always be proud of what they did. This song is so realistic on how it would feel.
Most underrated bsb song ever
This song takes me back to when I was a little girl. Haven't listened to it in nearly 11 years but I still remember every word. Timeless music
Ditto
I still can't get over how this song is still great almost 20 years later!
💕PERFECT
As a 20-something who grew up in the 90s and early 2000s, I would always pretend to hate everything BSB and NSYNC because you were a "teen girl" or "tween girl" if you didn't. I am now a rock and metal head, and I can say with confidence that I f***ing love this stuff, man.
A few years ago, I referenced this song around some of my fraternity Brothers, and they lost their minds, like "You loved that song too?!" We then blared it out of our car and sang like crazy people on the way to Taco Bell. That's when I discovered that nearly all 20-something dudes secretly loved Backstreet Boys as kids.
drink wine. crank this shit.
Who gives a fuck
LuxUmbra37 which suggests you should listen to whatever you like regardless of what others do or say
LuxUmbra37 I know that this might be out of the blue, but when you say metal and rock songs it caught my attention so I just want to know, do you know a band name linkin park I just want to know. I think it's a rock song.
LuxUmbra37 This is like the cutest thing I've ever read
I''ve been listening to this song on repeat for like the past hour. It stops, I just hit replay. I love this song.

When I was a kid and these guys were on top of the world, I remember this being my favourite of their songs. 20 years later, and I'm gaining a whole new appreciation for it now that I'm paying attention to the lyrics and getting addicted to the vocal progression of the chorus.
I was born in 2003, but my mom always played this in the car when I was little, still love it so much at 20.:D
I played this song on repeat in my portable CD player. In my pocket everywhere 😂
Me too!
We performed this song during a 5th grade recital when I was a kid
THIS IS THE JAM
BSB ARE THE ONE AND ONLY 👏🎉😍💕🙌 THUMBS UP 4 THE TEENAGERS BACK THEN💕😍🙌🎉👏👸
This was their best album. It's just so great, this song ages well. Gotta go !
I'm 33 now. I can only miss my sanyo cassette player. Thanks BSB for making those memories.

I never was a BSB superfan, but this is addictive!
This is one of my favorite Backstreet Boys songs!!!
The song definitely has a story. The moral is, don't be unfaithful.

I love this song! Forgot about it completely! Haven't heard this in YEARS.
My older sister used to love BSB. This is one of the songs that stuck with me that I've always liked.
I haven't heard this song since 99' when I was like 11. Lord the childhood memories when I listen to this song.
I used to blast this song on my car speakers at full volume a decade ago..Those were good times..
Your comment is 12 years old now at the time of me commenting on it. Hope you are still rocking to this tune🎼🎹🎸

"You're coming in and out I think my battery must be low
Listen if you can hear me we're goin to a place nearby, alright?

Let me tell you the story about the call that changed my destiny
Me and my boys went out, just to end up in mysery
I was about to go home and there she was standing in front of me
And said: Hi, I got a little place nearby
I wanna go, I should have said no!
Someone's waiting for me
But I call my girl up and said
Listen baby I'm sorry
Just wanna tell you don't worry
I will be late don't stay up and wait for me
I'll say again you're dropping out my battery it's low
So you know we're going to a place nearby
I gotta go!
Now two years gone nothing's been won
I can't take it back what's done is done
One of her friends found out
That she wasn't my only one
And it eats me from inside, that she's not by my side
Just because I made that call and lied
Listen baby I'm sorry
Just wanna tell you don't worry
I will be late don't stay up and wait for me
I'll say again you're dropping out my battery it's low
So you know we're going to a place nearby
I gotta go!

Guy Gelinas Bourgoin I had the biggest crush of him during that time. The long hair was so hot on him
@Miss Anthrope I'm a Howie girl too so you're not the only one 😂
No one can replace BSB. They're amazing and always will be. This may be a crime to say, and I hope no one turns me in for it xD But if they were still making music, or even still together for that matter, then these songs wouldn't bring back as many fond memories for me. I still know all the words to their songs too! Everything after Black and Blue is pushing it. Everything before it is iconic.
Thumbs up if you still think they're Larger Than Life :)
Still love this song. :D "Gotta go"
This is my favorite Band. It takes me back to the days I was on primary school going to high schl. ❤
It’s July 2020 and as a 29 year old man, this song is still *chefs kiss* and anytime it plays will get a chorus of people singing along

Still a choice you make, even if your job somehow requires a cellphone. Also, you could disable the gps, and a smartphone doesn't automatically leave a "digital trail". It's still a choice you make, in exchange for something that you find more valuable than anonymity.
" the snapchat " 😂

backstreet boys was the shit growing up and still is
Imma grown ass man, am doing marathon Nsync,five,bsb,westlife..who's with me?i just missed good old days song..☺️
I'm not sure if anyone else can hear this, but the chorus has the same exact chord progression as Baby One More Time by Britney Spears.. Just faster and in a different key
Logan Frye it's written by the same dude
Logan Frye really? it's the same people that written? I did know
It is! How have I never noticed that! Fan fail lol
I'm more familiar with Baby One More Time but I did grow up equally with Britney and the Backstreet Boys. She should have collaborated with NSYNC since she and Justin were in the 90's Mickey Mouse Club.
this is much better
Back to 90's... Love love BSB😍😍
I love the Back street Boys I'm 35 same age as Nick Carter..I grew up with this music.
AJ just said Howie farted in this song, during his chorus... totally had to listen for it
Same lol!! I'm wondering if it's the sound at 2:10, a few seconds before. I mean, it does sound like a fart, but idk.. either that or they hid it pretty well! Sneaky Pete's, hehe
Haha yeah. That totally happened, but I can't hear it. Silent but deadly.🤣🤣
@@Bertnahhaha it's at 2:19. "Da da. Da da *fart* da.
I'm here for that too 😂😂
That's why I'm here lol
