Hey Barbara. Enjoyed the story, thank you. When I was a kid raised in Mechanicsville bucks county, on Sundays ole Edgar Atkinson a notary from Buckingham would come up and pick up the Sunday paper. My Parents had a little truck stop right on 413 south of the center of town. Across from what is now The T & T farm. Long gone is the truck stop! Edgar was a storyteller and knew all about the Doan family and their outlawry. Edgar would tell all kinds of stories, some were I think embellished upon. He knew stories about black slaves that escaped from the south and lived and worked for Quakers who hid um out eh! How southern bounty hunters would come up to Bucks County cause they heard quakers ran underground railway. Edgar told of confrontations with the law. There were stories of Canal boat people. Folks that lived on the barges full time working the water road. I think it was an ax murder that brought some attention to the Barger's. Well alright then have fun looking stuff up. Just thought I would throw you some meat to contemplate.
I grew up on Church Rd and knew St. John's Church and the area very well. Went to school with some Weavers and hiked and camped on Haycock Mountain quite often in the 70s.
Great story. I am a descendent of Richard and Marjorie Hough of Lancaster they came over on the ship The Endeavor. Stories of this area have always intrigued me as that’s where my mothers family first settled.
Interesting story, my ancestors lived in Plumstead in 1749 before leaving for Washington County. My 6th great grandfather died in Plumstead but I haven’t been able to locate his burial.
Very interesting! (Although I have nothing to do with Pennsylvania at all, never have visited it so far in life, but would like to). I really do wonder what did happen to Adam Weaver 🤔. Great video

@@kennysr.1054 I’m am working on it, in a slightly different platform. 😊
It must've been easy to get away with murder back then. Just move to a different town and assume a new identity

I’m looking for any Trego’s from that county.
My grandmother was born in Springfield township n 1889. This would have occurred when she was a little girl. She is buried in Zion Hill PA.
