    I came to this video because I need a hinge that is water tight for an canopy solar panel, that must not leak at the hinge.
    This is one of the unique features of this style hinge! A traditional hinge will let water pass through it.

    Perfect application for your hinges. Bifold doors have two pivots which wear out quickly. If the door packages included two or three prehung plastic living hinges would solve the problem and extend the life of the door pivots.

      Hi Fern D, yes the use of plastic hinges does help to extend the life of door pivots in many situations. They are very useful in many ways.

    I’ve been looking for a clear hinge like this in Australia and I am having no luck. Do you make a clear version? Cheers ❤️🇦🇺

    How does stand up to freezing weather, since it is plastic will it not crack in extreme cold?

    Interesting. What would be the best way to attach this to corrugated plastic, or other plastic sheet materials? Can it be glued, or would you need a fastener?

    • @onemonroe
      @onemonroe  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Funkatastrophe, so sorry for the delayed response. We would recommend the use of a fastener. It is possible to Pierce the living Hinge with a custom hole pattern in the production process. We have seen many types of fasteners used, from rivets to nuts and bolts. The very smooth surface of the hinge resists adhesion to most common glues and epoxies.

    What type of plastic would be good for these hinges?

      Poly Polypropylene is the most common. It has long chain polymers which are well suited for the application.

    I cannot find anywhere but the US that sells living hinge and I certainly don't need 50ft of it.

    I have a unique situation where I need to cut the top (Plastic) of a 4 yard trash front load trash bin in half and then hinge it back together. Would the living hinge work and if so how would you fasten the lid back together after you cut it. This is a common problem when the trash enclosures are not built tall enough to accommodate the open of the bin within the enclosure space to load with trash by the custodian. This is also a problem when the bin is tall and the employee cannot lift the lid easily by themselves like on a 6 or 8 yard bin.

    Not every plastic is uv proof, I know only polyester that is uv proof and how many times can you bent the plastic hinges, also brass hinges life also long or stainlessteel.

    Don't forget to tell the folks that the hinge must be flexed as it comes from the mold or extruder while still hot. And maybe take a little bit about the properties of different polymers and plasticizers.

    Plastic doesn’t erode? Tell that to my fish tank because I don’t think it got the message.
