Watching this while pedaling on stationary bike in the middle of nowhere - amazing. Thank you 😊

Love the architecture of Portland downtown buildings. Some very beautiful buildings there. Compared to many US city of the same size Portland is a jewel and people that live there know this.

Looks much like the pre-Covid Pearl. We have visited Portland a few times, always stayed at the same place (Northrup & 21st). Very pleasant to walk over to 12th or 13th and then down to Powell's. Never much street life but the streets were clean and safe. Many unique shops. Alternatively walked down 23rd to Burnside to shop at Zupan's.

Well there is a reason this person chose the pearl. This the high end section of Portland. Everything else is overrun by homeless and nasty dirt and crap everywhere

You'll find homelessness, filth, drugs, etc. in any city you go to. The problem with Portland is for those of us who are from the area, it has gotten exponentially worse over the last ten years. I don't have a solution for it at the tip of my fingers but there are still a lot of lovely parts of Portland, in spite of the reality that the pandemic and unrest and homelessness have affected it dramatically.

We both know there is only so much we can do as citizens during a 6 homeless crisis. If we make the same choices, we will get the same results. Next month, I'm going to choose someone with a backbone: th-cam.com/video/xmXMF4mzGEw/w-d-xo.html

Nice camera work. I especially enjoyed the views of the buildings looking skyward. Nice touch. This is such a beautiful part of Portland in regards to architecture. Such a shame that so many who dwell in their parent's home basements who have never built anything on their own took to the streets last summer and destroyed the livelihoods of many people who had worked so hard to build their businesses over years and years, only to have them damaged and burned by people who have no right to tear down anything. Portland has fallen and it will never get back up until they get some leadership with backbone who will back the police and enable law and order to reign over domestic terror groups like Antifa and BLM who do nothing good for anyone...they only harm and tear down, never build up.

Thinking about moving to this area. Is there a bad homeless problem in the Pearl District? I've heard about some issues downtown which seems to be close by.

You should walk down by skidmore fountain. You get a real view of Portland. The homeless dirt and and everything else gross.

Very pretty. I’d love to know what day of the week it was filmed and the time. This is in stark contrast to another current video of decimated parts of Portland said to have occurred during the BLM protest’s right-wing infiltration of last year.

At 28:55 there's a nice street clock showing 4:35, so 4:35 in the afternoon, which matches the shadows and the height of the sun in the sky in the sky shots. All the days are probably the same. It looks like the city doesn't have its office workers back yet.

Hi there, I pass through the pearl district five days a week, here's my conjecture: A lot of the offices are still dark and people are still working from home. I work in apartments, seems like the vast majority of my clients have moved their offices home.
Pandemic restrictions have been relaxed a little, but the damage has been done to retail, event, and restuarants. Between (valid) covid hesitation and restrictions, the visible economy of Portland has been badly damaged.
All of this said, despite media hype, unrest rarely has resulted in long term physical damage to the city.
My guess is that the tourism board sets the public works division on the problem in short order to repair the mess. Frankly, the forever road construction is the worst physical feature of the city for me right now.

Pretty, is superficial like a silk hat on a pig which is Portland due to it's politics.
