#3 pouch (1" bottom) is one I have often used for a little girl's purse by adding half inch d-rings and a 22/28" strap. A quick and happy received gift. Love, love your teaching! My momma would have been Your #1 fan! ❤😊
ur lucky 🍀 I’d love to say I’ve just been told off by my Mam (she died 7 years ago 😭😭😭) so cherish her while u can hun 💐 lv ur channel best wishes from the UK 🇬🇧 xx
Hello from Central Arkansas USA. I love your channel with all your sewing ideas. I learned to sew from my mom, she's been gone for about 20 years, l miss her very much.
@@patwescott6557Are you related to THE Wescott family, the scissors company?. Just wondering.
Thanks again for a great tutorial Christine! My Mum died when I was 65 and she was still telling me what to do! Once a Mum, always a Mum! ❤
Thank you for going back to the basics. You're such a good teacher and so easy to listen to. Love all your videos🥰
Made 2 RN bags with set In strips for bottoms and zippers, thanks to your video's. Oh yes I boxed corners too. Sure proud hadn't done zipper since high school 50 years ago, tell mum thanks.
Thank you for taking the time to show each step, I wish I could show yummy bag, came out so beautiful maybe the best I have ever made. I used to sew a ton, and stopped for many years just picked it back up, your videos are fantastic, love my double tape!!! Your voice is lovely to listen to as well. Very relaxing! Thank you again!!
You are so welcome Tracey. We have a Facebook group where you can share what you make with us all😁
This is a fantastic tutorial! So clear, and now I understand the difference between flat and boxed corners and how boxing the corners affects the size of the finished bag. I feel like I really understand the construction now! Thank you so much!
Thanks for this great video! I really enjoyed how you showed the 3 pouch variations and how boxing the corners changed how they looked. I also liked seeing the regular zippers.
Thank you Christine ❤ for this very detailed video which is so helpful. And a big thank you to your Mom for the inspiration behind it.
Another great tutorial! I’m in the middle of making 20 of these for the nursing home. Those little dears need a pouch for their little things. So glad I’m doing them right!😅😊 Glad you still have a mum!
Oh how I understand your mom. I am 71 and started sewing probably 60 years ago. Oh, how sewing has changed. Trying to sew like they do today is like learning how to ride a bicycle all over again. Love your show and ideas.
You are so funny. I’m in my late 50s myself. My mom reminds me she is my mom and can guide me whenever she wants. My fathers mom just turned 101 two days ago and still lives by herself.
The women in our family like to live long as well. My grandmother lived until she was 101. Hopefully I can still sew then😀
Thank you Christine I just made one and loved it!!!
Am making more
Thank you for the different choices. Thanks to your Mum for bringing such a wonderful gal n awesome teacher into the world. I'm sure she is quite proud of you.
I agree with and can't say it any better than the other ladies have. It's like reading a greeting card in the store and finding the one that perfectly says what you couldn't have said so eloquently. I've been watching gifts for quilters, knitters and crocheters and the number one thing I see in every channel is bags to hold their work. Me daughter in law knitted me some baskets and it baffled me why they don't knit their own bags and baskets? But I think I may try my hand at making her one for Christmas because you are such a good teacher. If I want a 4 to 6 inch bottom I need to start with a block of material that much taller and 3 inches wider.
Thanks Rae. When working out the boxing, don't forget to include the seam allowance too😁
I am 59 and my Mom's caretaker so yeah I get into trouble with her lol... But mostly I just get sad with her lol. I am SO!!!! very glad for you that you still have yours and can "get into trouble". Keep it up TFS the video.
Yeah, I'm glad she's still around to give me grief Judith. I won't tell her that though😁😁
What a great teacher you are. Very clear but not belaboured. Thank you.
Just discovered your channel and learned so much already. Thank you from Liverpool UK
So happy. I was feeling overwhelmed because I don’t use continuous zips yet.
I'm trying to incorporate more of these regular zips in my videos for people that don't use the continuous zips Marlene. My most recent video for a boxed bag shows you how to put them in using the regular type. You can then use that method to install them whenever you see me use the continuous. Just use something a couple of inches longer to easily do the topstitching😀 th-cam.com/video/1CAHrmpdnoM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ph2McILgOc3ujGFd
I’m trying to complete the big boxy but need help with the regular zip. Please and thank you.
@marlenemontoya9226 Check the instructions for the link I sent you earlier today, but use a zip about 2 or 3 inches longer than what you need. If you're still stuck, let me know, and I'll try to do a video during the week 🙂
Excellent tutorial, Christine. The lining has pretty much always been confusing to assemble to me, until today. You explained it perfectly as usual. Thank you!
I'm a bit older than you, but I would LOVE to be still getting in trouble from my mum!! You're so lucky, as I'm sure you know x
haha, It's not so bad getting in trouble now. Probably because I'm not wagging school anymore🤣
Thanks so much Christine for giving me the numbers for the bags. It helps me to figure out how to adjust the corners and get the width and height I need. You talked about making the top of the bag squared so that the bag is completely squared. If you would make one of those, I’d REALLY APPRECIATE IT! I’m learning sooooo much from you 👏👏👏👏👏👏. You’re absolutely a Godsend to my guild Boutique’s efforts. I can take what I’ve learned, and help others with their makes as well. I’ll post on your Facebook page when we begin to complete items to share our progress. Thank you again for all you do!
That'll be great PJ. We're looking forward to seeing what you all make. As for the boxed corners at the top, I have done a few boxy videos. I think I also have one planned out in my pile too😊
God bless just love your videos your so amazing!! Ive learned so much from you ..your an awsome teacher!
Ha! Try being half way through your 60’s and still being told what to do and how to do it! We are blessed to still have them with us, so all we can do is laugh about it 😊.
I absolutely love your channel. You are the best teacher. I’m teaching my 10 year old grandson to sew and this video is an absolute need to watch for him. He loves your videos. Says you explain things so well. God bless you !!
That's lovely Robin. I'm so pleased your grandson is enjoying the videos too😁
thank you so glad you are not using the continuous zip. I buy the others and love them and it gets so frustrating when people try and show you something using them instead of the regular zips.
Thanks for sharing. I’m sad I had to move back to uk from Torquay, Victoria. I miss the warm Aussie accent so makes your tutorial even more special. You’re luck you still have your Mum, I’m 48 and my Mum died when I was 28. I wish she was still here to tell me off and guide me with my sewing projects. Your Mum sounds like a doll! Treasure her. ❤
Torquay is a nice place. I used to spend Summers there camping with friends in the eighties😀
My mom has been gone for 23 years. I miss her everyday. So many times I wish I could tell her something, or ask her something. You are so lucky.
Thank you for all that you do.
Enjoyed how you showed how boxing corners in different sizes worked. Enjoy your mom while she’s still around! ❤❤
I'm almost 70 I still hear my Mum in my ear . THANK 😊 YOU FOR THIS VIDEO
I really like adding the tabs to the zippers because they seem to look neater and more professional to me. The continuous zippers are handy, but I still struggle with getting the zipper pull inserted, even after watching your video demonstrating how to do it. 😮 But I suppose you could add the pulls first and then cut them to the length you want and also add the tabs! I think I will give that a try the next time I make bags!
That's a good idea Alicia. If you're using tabs, the pulls would need to go on first too😀
Hello from Alaska! What a great teacher you are. I hope you have family who soak up your love of sewing. This was well done and I have learned a lot. Thank you.
Thanks. I'm so glad you've still got your mom. Mine been gone 30 years this Dec. I do enjoy your channel. Thanks for sharing what you make and how to make it.
Go saints ❤️🖤 I use to live in St Kilda and I went to a few a games.
I love what you do 🇦🇺🇸🇪
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs I visited Sankt Kilda for the first time in 2003 and just fell in love. I decided that I just had to come back and live there for a while, I lived there between 2005-07.
I was back in 2014 and it lost some of it's charm, it's to polished now, I like when it's a bit rough 😂
You're such a wonderful teacher. Thank you for your presence here and for sharing your knowledge ❤😊
Wow, I woke up and thought "A video from both you and Chris, it must be my birthday" then I realized it was, thanks for the best inspiring, entertaining (you guys make me giggle)🥳😄 videos. lol. Yes, when you have been doing this as long as we have we need our Mom's to get us to go back to the basics sometimes. Love it.
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Thank you both, you are 2 of my favourite people.
I loved the tape trick with the open end of the zipper. I always struggle with getting those even. It's thanks to you that I am now using continuous zippers. And I'm now using the double-sided tape as well. Thanks
Thanks Cynthia. I started doing this out of frustration when my zips kept moving. It's probably why I like the continuous zips so much😁
Thank you for this video. Mom is right, not all of us use continuous zippers.
Yep! I finally listened to her. I'll use more regular zips in the future😀
Thankyou I've learnt a lot today 😊
You’re welcome Erica. I learned I should listen to my mum more often😊
Bravo! You just taught me an easier way to put on the zipper tabs! Mom is always right BUT I love continuous zippers! You are very talented! Thank you for sharing! :)
Excelente,you are best!!!!
Thanks Christine for using ordinary zips, this video was great thanks to your mum.
who can argue with Mum they always know best but i will say watching your channel introduced me to continuous zips and i treat them the same way as normal zips because that is the way you taught us to use them either way your teaching style is great and i have learned so much from you thank you Christine another great tutorial
The easiest tabs to make and the nicest. Thank you so much for your awesome lesson!
Thank you so much Christine for explaining and showing how to use the double sided tape for zips. I have started using my double sided tape, and love, love out. I will not be going back to use pins or clips ever again with the tape. 😀
I loved hearing about your mama. My mami tells me all sorts of things when I sew and She's right. Although I don't always pay attention 😂I love love love your videos. Have a beautiful day. From Sunny Cali.
haha, My mum would tell you that I rarely pay attention to her as well. But I consider that my job as a rebellious daughter😀
Thank You for this!!! I now know why all my zipper ends are so difficult to master. What a great video Ms Christine ❤
Thank you Christine I appreciate you going to basic it was a great refresher. And new slightly different techniques ❤
Thank you so so much. I love watching your videos. You make it so easy to learn.
Thank you for your awesome instructions, the zipper tabs explained very clearly. Please thank your Mom for her input, I use both pre-made zippers and zippers by the yard and your info was very helpful.
I am making those today! Only I will add a loop on each one. Thanks, Mum, for your loving guidance! 😊❤🎉
Love all your videos, this one by far helped me the most. Zippers are very intimidating for me but you went above and beyond explaining it. And I want to give a big thumbs up to your mom for suggesting you do a video like this. Please do more with regular zips, I'm sure a lot more more people other than me would love to see them.
I will now Becky. I hope the zips aren't so intimidating now either😀
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial and all the explanation about width and hight and zippertabs. That's really a "all in one" video. Thank you so much and greetins from Bavaria
You are so welcome! I have another one for boxed bags coming very soon 😁
Thanks Christine i make mine with dress zips a good refresher i do mine the same as you
I'll use more of them in the future Pamela. I have hundreds to use up😀
Just Great! Thanks Christine. Those bags are so addictive, I couldn'stop making them. Now I'll have to make some more. 😮 😊
Thanks so much for this side by side to show different outcomes and sames, especially the size comparisons at the end with the boxed corners. I’ve never tried continuous zips yet, because I have a large stash of regular, but I have a commercial purse that I’d love to change the zip from one way to double zip. I’ve used the purse long enough that if my tweet is a failure, it will be ok, if it works, I’ll get a couple more years with it.
It's always worth having a go Sandi. It can be a real sense of achievement too when you have success😀
Great video - I haven't made a zipper pouch for such a long time, a refresher was very welcome! Re the zips - I get mine from our local wonderful Nanna's Haberdashery, and they are dress zippers, so I'm always up for using ordinary zips. Cheers
Great video as usual. Like the continuous zippers but don’t do enough sewing to invest it them. Will stick with the regular zippers and start using the tape. Thanks a bunch.
You're welcome Pat. I know I should use my regular ones more. I have so many of them, but they're always the wrong size😀
Great instructions, Christine. I don't use continuous zippers sew i do like to see this type of zipper but some do use continuous zippers sew show both.😁💟
I will now Barbara. I got so used to using the continuous, I forgot others may not use them😀
You are awesome! Thank you for your very clear instructions. I would prefer the regular zips. Also, i am fairly new and struggle with the zipper tabs…more help would be appreciated.
Thank you Mary Jane. This video will help you with your zips. You can use regular or continuous. th-cam.com/video/SkLupaUo3ZE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=jaQou5_RGJs8mHOe 😀
I use regular zippers, because I’m terrified of using continuous zippers.Thank you for your tutorials.
You’re welcome Loraine. I find all zippers daunting at first, but once you've done a couple, they're very easy to use😀
I am 59, and still have my Mum although she is not what she used to be health wise and is quite frail, so she doesn’t tell me what to do, it is more the other way around, like a role reversal type situation.
Well you do actually listen to me 😊❤thank you for sharing this ,now i have to do some and yes you are one of my favourite daughters lol
Haha, of course I listen to you Mum. Haven't I always? 🤣🤣
We always listened to our mom. She could stop us with The Look!
I agree with your mum. Lol love your videos. 😊
