Wow, that was so shocking for me and my friend who both got this laptop. It's f** amazing! thank you for making a video, i'd never want to update bios out of fear dell screwd something else, but you vid changed my mind
There was some bios updates that broke things but this one seems pretty stable so far. It might be the last one we get too as it seems like it’s getting longer between updates.
Thanks bro, I updated the drivers, brightness control works. It wasn't working at first, but after I chose to delete the old driver while installing the AMD driver, it worked.
Man, I'm still rocking a previous bios just out of fear of what kind of shit Dell is going to pull on us on every bios update. I actually wonder if one could get better performance while running an older bios (the ones that ran hotter), while trying to deal with temperature through undervolting, Ryzen Controller (or Universal x86 Tuning Utility) and using a good thermalpad such as honeywell.
I haven’t noticed any problems with this bios so far and of course very happy the brightness controls work. Seems stable with the latest official AMD and Nvidia drivers too which is nice for newer game optimizations. I can get at least 60fps for every game I’ve tried and that’s all I really care for.
Hey, you have the exact model as I do, and you seem pretty active in the comments so I'm hoping you can help me out. I got my boy in late 2022, and although I am mostly satisfied, there are a few quirks I haven't been able to iron out so far. Just to preface, all my drivers and BIOS (1.18.0 atm) are fully up to date and the laptop is physically as clean as it can be, complete with a new thermal paste. Performance: In your earlier video (10 months ago), you mentioned how due to a faulty BIOS update, your GPU watts never went beyond 40-50w. I ALWAYS had the same problem, no matter the BIOS version. For me almost never goes beyond 65-75w, despite my RTX 3060 being a 115w GPU (130w with Nvidia's Dynamic Boost). Is this a BIOS issue, or a temperature issue? My GPU temps are always around 85-87 degrees, similar to yours in the video. But I HAVE noticed that, in rare occassions when temps drop below 80 degrees, the GPU will go up to 108-115w as you would expect it. G-Mode set to Rapid Cooling doesn't lower the temps, which is weird. Should I get a cooling pad? Alienware Command Center: How in the heck did you get your AWCC to work? Despite multiple complete reinstalls, my AWCC only has the Library and a limited version of the Fusion tab. No FX, no Overclocking, no Themes, etc. My model came with Windows 11 already in package, but I never did a fresh reinstall. Should I? Is it possible this will also clear up the issues with GPU power usage?
I've been struggling with this issue for ages and now can't even adjust the brightness by setting the desired value before a restart. I've updated the bios, graphics driver and cpu drivers and still can't get it to work. Any suggestions?
Well I would try to reinstall the drivers again, but choose to remove the old drivers too. AMD’s installer calls it a “factory reset” under its Additional Options menu and Nvidia calls it a “clean installation” in Custom Installation. If it still doesn’t work a fresh install or reset of windows might work, but it’ll take time to backup and setup everything again. I hope it works for you.
Hello sir, I have the same laptop Dell G15 5515 Ryzen 7 5800H with RTX 3060. However, my keyboard only has orange lid. Is there a way to turn on RGB or does my version only come with orange?
Very good with video editing, but it is noisy because of the fan and battery life will not be great either if you plan on editing while not plugged in.
Hey, thanks for sharing. However, my brightness issue is still not fixed. My bios is 1.19.0, and nvidia driver is 560.70, AMD software version is 24.7.1 do you think i should roll back my drivers?
There’s a new bios 1.20 that just came out that I haven’t tested, but if you’re willing to risk a try you can do that one and apply any Nvidia and AMD updates too before trying a rollback. I’ve updated mine a few times from this video and luckily haven’t lost brightness controls yet.
There have been updates to the bios, AMD drivers, and Nvidia drivers since this video happened and I can tell you that it appears to still be working on my laptop so maybe you can try the latest versions and see if it fixes it. Also make sure you have hybrid graphics on in the bios before installing everything.
Sounds like your model might not be the same or they changed the hardware at some point. I know some specs don’t have the hybrid graphics. Just have to hope another update down the line fixes it for you.
This new update made my monitor dead, already send it to the service center and they need more than 10 days to agree to fix it on warranty even thought the issue is from their side, not only me a lot of users got their laptop broken because of this, when it's fixed I will sell and buy another brand, this is the last time I buy something from them
I have read that there was an update that was eventually pulled that was killing monitors. It’s unfortunate that these companies don’t do a good job of testing before releasing updates. I can tell you that no company is immune to doing this though, but it’s worth considering how well they handle support if something goes wrong.
Yep, even with the 3060. But do tell me what thermal paste you use. I'm using their factory version, shin-etsu one and I am not satisfied with the temps.@@Loaded0
Temps will be high. It’s just designed that way unfortunately. I haven’t had it cause a problem though and longevity doesn’t seem affected as it been years. If it is causing you problems you can try underclocking or removing the boost feature. I’ve heard other people have success with that.
Wow that’s weird. Sounds like it’s still working at least. I think a CMOS reset might fix it, but it means you will have to unplug the battery from the motherboard. Bro, you just saved and help me solving this issues that I had it for almost a year and a half. Thanks for sharing this critical information.
Total surprise to me that the problem was actually fixed. I think I’ll be able to use this laptop for another few years now.
Have the same laptop and needed this alot. Thank you.

Does G-Sync work with AMD graphics turn on?
On an external monitor yes. The hdmi and DisplayPort usb c are both output from the Nvidia gpu.

Hey, how you changed your keybord color? Nice video!
Thanks! Only some models came with an RGB keyboard. Most came with a one color.
is that a 3060? mine is 3050TI, you do have the keyboard LED light colors. mine is stuck at orange only.
Yeah it’s the 3060 model and most of the ones they made had only the orange lighting.

Most of them only came with the orange color. The RGB was a custom option.
Hello.
Should i buy this exact laptop for $550?
How it will perform in Video editing?
Should i buy it for Video editing in 2024?
Very good with video editing, but it is noisy because of the fan and battery life will not be great either if you plan on editing while not plugged in.

How did you get AMD Software running on a PC with an Nvidia GPU? I have the same model, but it's not letting me install it
Hybrid graphics need to be on in the bios so the AMD gpu is detected. Should let install after that.
