- HD 1080p: On Sunday, June 12, the Wilmington & Western Railroad held their annual Pufferbelly Days event. #98 and #58 double headed for two trips from Greenbank Station to Mt Cuba and back. The event itself was a great turnout for the railroad, and #98 and #58 certainly didn't disappoint as they chugged along the line to Mt Cuba. During this whole weekend a PBS film crew was filming the W&W for their show, Great Scenic Railway Journeys. They were also present on this day filming the double header trips. We first catch the train pulling the consist into the station, and before the train departed for the first trip, the engineers blew the whistles a series of times for the film crew. We rode the first trip, then chased the second, so you will see the clips mixed together as the video progresses on. Enjoy another steam-filled video from Eastern Railfan Productions!

I grew up in Spring Valley (right off Barley Mill Road)-- I have such wonderful memories of these trains rolling past the entrance to my neighborhood and hearing that whistle-- I'm so glad that they were able to re-build the line after 2 disastrous floods so that other kids can see the way it used to be. Great history-- Just wonderful!
Nice video
@railfanentertainment Thanks! The train stopped there to let the PBS film crew on board. They were chasing the train for a while then got on at that spot.
Everyone and their uncle was there that day! I saw you guys pull up at Mt Cuba right as the train was passing! I'm the guy in the blue shirt! Great video!
Dude awesome camera work there Robby, it was a pleasure railfanning with you and the family!
See ya soon!
Davis
@CSX6000 Thanks!
That's awesome! The only memories I had as a kid with the W&W was riding past Marshallton Yards to the CSX line while the other side of the line was being repaired. That must have been a crazy storm that passed through, but I agree I'm glad they were able to bring it all back to life!
Very nice!
Good stuff man!
@GenesisSanctuary Thanks!
Whoa, great whistles, that was a big sound.
@indie1361 Thanks man!
Double headed steam Niceeeeee
No problem! Yes they should, they ran a 12:30 and a 2:30 trip last year with both engines, so it should be the same this year.
@GulfWindProductions Thanks Davis! Hope to see you guys again soon as well!
Very Niceeeeee!!! And do u think they should install air rockers on #58 & 98??????? I think they should because they are so much better than air clappers!! And 1 more thing.........I have another railroad how about the pine creek railroad in allaire state park NJ this summer???????
Very nice video. I have a quick question, though (and it may sound stupid) but why did the train stop at Mt. Cuba Rd.? Thanks! A like and favorite.
@joneau261 Thanks!
@Shahoofah The past 2 years, we have been trying new whistles to see how they sound. Pufferbelly day is best, because if we don't like it, the second unit is not required to blow. This whistle was a mystery, but we believe it is a factory whistle like 98's. If you look at the whistles, the only difference you really see is the height. Otherwise, they look the same.
When is 98 going to return from her 1,472 inspection
What date are u going to strasburg in july??
I should be volunteering there soon name is Drew Schlecker
@DarkMouseyFan114 The camera I use is a Canon Vixia HFR10, if you are interested in it you should check out B&H Photo and Video's website, they always have nice deals going on over there.
Hey im trying to get a shot for this sunday when it leaves marshalton yard, what time would i have to be there
wonder if anyones gonna do anything with 92 or 60
What whistle is that on 98????????
@Strasburg1991 As far as 60, keep dreaming. 60 is so so far gone. 92 however, we do plan to get her running again someday. Money has to be there though.
