Anyone that follows the Blackhawks knows that the current GM has stuck to his word about being patient and not rushing things. He would NEVER trade Korchinski in this stage of the rebuild. Moore & Korchinski are a part of the Hawks future core.
Nathan. Exactly what you said, A Chicago Blackhawks Trade, while, highly unlikely, I'd said A Taylor Raddysh, Lucas Reichel & Connor Murphy to Toronto, with Marner going to Chicago. I think that Taylor Raddysh has shown promise season before last & upside (it's time to get the best out of The Brandon Hagel Trade from Chicago to The Tampa Bay Lightning, especially since they also no longer have Boris Katchuck in The Windy City). This gives Toronto some decent players, who are young & provide depth & upside. Let me know what you think
Just felt the need to mention that the first two trades of the second article only involved players hat are were drafted 4th overall or the 4th overall pick
In Toronto’s best interest, they’re better off trading him in a deal where they gain cap ( I like the Vegas deal) then go and sign someone like walker to bolster the D line.
I think people don't realize just how difficult it will be for the Leafs to move Marner because of his cap hit. I would expect the return to be very underwhelming
With the Columbus trade i think you really undervalue how much getting a similar player to Marner in kent Johnson and all the space. The bleacher report trades are under the presumption that no money is eaten and i think they over value cap space to much.
As a leaf fan if we do trade him i genuinely hope he wins a cup somewhere else, great person and player but the system we have hasnt worked and the playoff points speak for themselves, whatever happens i hope the best for mitchy, he has all the skill in the world to be one of the best players in the league, just needs to find the inner dog in him.. drive that net etc. Keep you're head up mitch you learn more from losing then you do winning
Why? To make a small group of towards even smaller? Defense was already a big problem and it doesn’t make sense to move Marino unless Seamus Casey was NHL ready. But still we need defense to help fix our goaltending issues.
@@kadenbland1333 Marinos contract is gonna need to be moved sometime in the next 2 seasons. Marner for Marino and a first in the 2025 draft is a very low risk, high reward move
@@sharangoalvich But our forward core is already tiny. Why trade for marner when the young guys are gonna need extensions as well. (Mercer, Nemec, Hughes, and Holtz.)
I agree that most if not all these trades probably won't happen. But think I noticed was the point you made about the Leafs getting nothing back. Sure Marner for guys that are "weaker" doesn't improve the team right away but that frees up cap space to go after high end talent July 1st. If they manage to make a deal by then. There are people who will be free agents that the Leafs could grab if they have the cap space. So why not pick up some prospects to pad your future and go after a higher end player July 1st 🤷
Leafs should look at Colton Sissons as part of a package from Nashville. Solid bottom six Center who could fill in on the second line when needed. Hard-working and excellent on face-offs. 6’1” 200+lbs, 30 years old. Only $2.85M cap hit with 2 years left. Can play RW if needed. Excellent on Penalty Kill too, so he can eat most of Marner's PK minutes.
The issue with a lot of these going to rebuilding teams is they likely require a sign and trade but they involve draft picks in the 2024 draft coming back. Sure, the Leafs could allow the new team to discuss an extension with the new team, but he can't be signed to an extension until July 1st (read: after the draft). Also, as a fan of a rebuilding team I'm more likely to wait for him to become a UFA and try to get him that way than to try to get him a year early at the cost of significant assets.
Here’s a trade that can add work for both sides: Mitch Marner and a 2025 2nd to the predators for juuse saros 2025 4th and UFA Alex carrier. Leafs get their starting goaltender and a potential top 4 D if they sign him and Nashville gets forward help that they need.
Some of these are reallllllllllllllllyyyyy bad. Actually most of them. In Torontos favour and in whatever other team is getting Mitch Marner. I’ve only seen a few where I feel like both teams would be happy
Marner to Vancouver, Petterson to Toronto, same draft position, age, points, two way play, money, Marne can feed Miller and Boeser on pp, Petterson can center Willie and has a shot on the pp. only one other trade, RFAs Robertson and Liljegren to move up in the draft from 23rd to at least 15-19th. still 20 million in cap space for UFAs
If I'm Treliving wouldn't even entertain any of these trades, reason being find me a better defensive forward then Marner, a guy that gets you 90 + points on top 5v5 on top PP and your #1 PK obviously when healthy, love to see Marner get coached up by Berube before dealing him...
Every team including my favorite team the Sharks, would like Marner. The problem is that he wants to win and most of the teams to offer a trade are not in that boat. If Vegas somehow gets him, I will lose my mind. That is the last team that deserves another top talent. Hopefully a team like Minnesota gets him.

So much disrespect towards Marner. He’s actually such a special player. Yes, he had a rough playoff run this year but everyone forgets that he has the most playoff points out of the core four and is an elite penalty killer. People are so quick to turn on players, no wonder the guy’s confidence is low.
Toronto would be dumb to trade Mitch if it's not a win for them. Simply getting out from under his contract doesn't outweigh his talent. Some of these trade offers are just dumb
I like the Marner to Preds for Saros rumours. I think Preds will need to put a tad more in there. But the Leafs need a goalie badly as well. They only have “Brick” Woll. Reilly is not on the untouchable list. I’d Probly trade him to Vancouver or Seattle. To be closer to home. I think he gets traded. And he is the longest serving Leaf. Since 2013. If hes going to Utah I see the trade being something like Marner for Crouse and McBain. This gives the Leafs a good complimentary winger who if played with Matthews could likely do amazing and the a great big bottom 6 centerman thats young plus like 4.5mil cap savings which they could use to go after 1 of those RHD defensive dmen in FA this offseason
Great Video, as usual, Nathan. I think that Mitch Marner stays in Toronto. It's obvious, with A Change In Coach, they still are of the view that The Core Four can still win The Stanley Cup. Let me know what you think
With Berube being the coach in Toronto now, I will float this idea out there for comment... The Blues are in good shape at the goalie position, with Binnington, Hofer, and Colten Ellis coming off a great season in the QMJHL... Goalie is a big need for Toronto, but Forward is less of a need for St. Louis than Defense. If the Blues could come to terms with Brady Skjei, Brad Pesce (Carolina probably can't afford to keep both), or Brandon Montour, it might make some sense to move Binnington to Toronto if the Leafs are also willing to at least take Krug and his contract off the Blues hands. That gives Toronto a proven goalie and a puck moving defenseman, while allowing them to ship Marner out of town and it would give the Blues a good offensive playmaker and the opportunity to sign a player who can improve their defense immediately. I'm not sure if the numbers would work... Toronto might have to retain salary to make it happen. I just figure that the Blues have to choose between Binnington and Hofer sometime soon, so maybe this is a win-win trade that just accelerates the timeline of that decision, while also filling some needs for both teams. - Blues fan
KJ for Marner would also make the Jackets worse. Columbus was an incredibly soft team that was already top-heavy with offensive minded wingers who weren't geling until the final month of the season, Marner isn't moving that needle at all
If a trade does happen, I think Toronto fans will be underwhelmed by whatever they get in return. Everyone knows Toronto wants to get rid of him. He's one of the scapegoats (and for good reason) for their playoff failures. He can help get a team to the playoffs, but then he disappears. I'm skeptical of how much demand there is for a player like that. Probably not enough demand that teams would take on his salary AND give up assets. On top of that, some of the demand that might exist won't matter if Marner won't waive his NTC for those teams. I think it's more likely that Toronto is stuck with Marner until he hits UFA and they will just have to let him walk.
You are vastly underrating Marner as a player , one of the premier playmakers in the league one of finalists for the selke , their best penalty killer ,solid two way player ,would be Devil best winger. The biggest reason for the trade is lack cap space. I like the Columbus deal . Johnson is very young and has room for growth. and the draft pick could net them Zayne Parekh the most talented offensive defenceman in the draft, he is breaking 30 year old scoring records in the OHL , Makar similarities has a great shot.
Good vid, but the analysis has the fatal flaw that the main idea is to reallocate money. The cap space will allow them to get better now. Kochinski, Moore and a 1st plus about 10 million in cap space would be a massive win for The Leafs. Like you, I doubt Chicago would even consider it.
Trade Petterson to Utah For Cooley or Keller and their first rounder this year, second next year. Can re-signs Lindholm, maybe gets some top 4 RD a Tanev like partner for Hughes, Hronek should have signed when he had the chance. Peterson is a regular season darling, lady bings don’t bring home Stanley Cups unless your name is Gretzky
As a hawks fan I 100% do NOT want them to trade for Marner. He ain’t it and he’s definitely not worth his contract. Dudes a no show when it counts. No thanks
I don't think marner is going to get anywhere close to the return you're thinking. The league knows why he's being traded. He's terrible in the playoffs, that will devalue him tremendously.
As a hawks fan, I love Marner and hope he somehow ends up in Chicago. But, Kevin korchinski is definitely not going to be traded and the hawks moving three premium assets in the middle of a rebuild is stupid
Call me crazy, but you are NEVER getting a fair return for Marner. I would seriously sell him for picks AS LONG AS I dont have to retain ANYTHING on marner. I think the only way you can remotely come out of the marner trade in a good spot is if you put his entire cap hit into 2-3 good players and youre not getting that in one trade. I would trade him to a team trying to hit the floor, for guys I can buy out, and some late round picks maybe. Then buy those guys out, open up cap space, and try to go get better depth because this isnt working. I would legitimately trade him for nothing! The cap space back is more valuable than anything any team can offer at this point, call me crazy. Do the Kyle Korver trade and trade him for a fax machine i dont care, his contract was a mistake you have to get out from it and running it back for his last year is insane
Move marner for the Columbus trade in my opinion Kent Johnson can grow and they can draft sam Dickinson with the 4th overall pick clearing up a lot of cap space over 9 million just for marner to maybe go out and sign Brandon montour and you do tarvares for a goalie and maybe a second or third round pick and or just something else to get the most out of the deal I think you try to do markstrom if that’s how you spell his name I think you can get a bit out of him and keep Woll as a reliable backup try to give him a lot of starts in the next season and if he goes off maybe he steals the net from Jacob back to the trade for Jacob you will clear up 5 million dollars off of tarvares contract which you can use for off season contract signings to keep players like domi Burtuzzi and a selection of other players
Marner wants to stay close to Toronto. Marner to Chicago for the #2 pick makes sense and then trade back with Anaheim, Montreal or Calgary to get both of there 1st round picks.

@@drewstott2015 only Pesce is a free agent and the Canes can get so much more and better. Also again suggesting they trade Kochetkov, their future, for practically nothing in return is absurd.

@@chucksteptoe9363if Treliving is trying to trade Marner, he’ll be dealing from a position of weakness since Marner’s cap hit is quite high and not a lot of teams can take that on, even with salary retention. It would be another player with one year left on a high cap hit plus some assets for Marner with retention as a rental
@@chucksteptoe9363 Once again: Full No Move. High expiring cap hit. Every GM knows TO wants to sell. Is selling low after his playoff performance. The Jets lucked into that trade mostly because both teams (Montreal & LA) were highly interested. Think more of what Ottawa got for DeBrincat than any other recent trade.
If the devils trade our 2nd best defender for marner the team will never se success.
Marner is not a finalist for the selke stop lying Austin Matthews is
Vegas he would be perfect.
@@duarteduarte3649he was literally a selke finalist last year lol
@@scotthenderson4991 last year exactly not this year
to minnesota: mitch marner
to toronto: matt boldy, brock faber and 2024 1st
Again another fleecing offer that is lopsided in the Leafs’ favor? Get real
Rossi, Gus Bus, and 2025 2nd for Marner 50%retained
Trade Petterson to Utah For Cooley or Keller and their first rounder this year, second next year.
Can re-signs Lindholm, maybe gets some top 4 RD a Tanev like partner for Hughes, Hronek should have signed when he had the chance.
Peterson is a regular season darling, lady bings don’t bring home Stanley Cups unless your name is Gretzky
Larson, Power and a 1st gets it done
Personally, I think getting back draft picks and prospects is great. Cap space is gold
To Toronto: Matheson, Struble, Farrell
To Montreal: Marner
xD
As a Flames fan on CapFriendly, every other post is Marner to Calgary even though he doesn’t fit our timeline.
For the love of the game , please find other sponsors then betting sites
Seth Jones and torontos 1st for extended Marner
Vegas Traded to Marner
Have Marner talk to Kadri about it
I can’t believe no one brought up Washington for a trade they need a top 6 scorer for sure!
John Marino and Alex Kefroot lol
Whoever wrote this article should be fired from BR
As a Utah fan I really don’t see why we’d cut corners and trade for Marner
If I had to flames and maybe kraken but not thrilled over them.
@ScottStenlund yeah I highly doubt he’s ever a hawk. Him playing next to bedard would be really cool tho
You only have mitch for a year, doubt you get much. He's going to free agency and won't get what he thinks.
If he move to Chicago, they will start to look good and scary
The starting point is that the leafs must get a Dman back now. Forger picks. Why are picks always included.
What about a straight swap. PLD for Marner? Haha
How about a one for one: Marner for Faber?
Minnesota doesn't have the cap space for Marner.
Expected to hear the GMM music at the beginning
Keep Marner. These offers are putrid.
They just need to do marner for saros one for one
Trading marner would be foolish. They need to keep him, Tavares paycut and add players
Marner wants to stay close to Toronto. Marner to Chicago for the #2 pick makes sense and then trade back with Anaheim, Montreal or Calgary to get both of there 1st round picks.
Chicago is some 500 miles from Toronto, If he wants to remain close to home. Than it's either Buffalo or Detroit.
Let JT walk as well.
to Washington for Protas and Kuemper
The jackets will probably trade the 4th overall pick to edmonton for mcdavid and edmontons first so i dont think the marner trade makes sense
Love the Vegas one saves 5 million to sign pesce
What is up. Marner going to the wings. I can feel it. This is our year 🎉🎉🎉
For seider. Wings have nothing else of value
@@pahul79wings have a ton of value one of the top prospect pools in the entire league. But I wouldnt want the wings to give up prospects for him.
@@jceggert7163 leafs shouldn’t trade marner. They should extend him 8 years and add players as cap goes up
We’re trading picks
Marner is worth that much
Zach Hyman and Carter Verhegge seem to be doing ok without the Leafs and their foolish fans !
As a leafs fan, that Chicago trade would be awesome
We’ll pass....
Bleacher Report and Sportsnet having slow news days so they pull out their NHL video game and see which trades would go through for Marner. All these trade takes are a joke. These writers are they elementary school kids? Garbage trade takes. Garbage sports websites.
I think Marner, Matthews, and Tavares should get the hell out of Toronto. Toronto is a bad place to play lol
Good place to play as a kid but… we see what happens. And no way Chicago want Marner
The BIG BANG will be the draft
Marner could be the missing piece for a contender.
No he can become invisible in the playoffs
Shane Wright isn’t going anywhere
to toronto: pyotr kochetkov, brett pesce, martin necas and jesperi kotkaniemi
to carolina: mitch marner, timothy liljegren, calle jarnkrok, nick robertson
this this could be interesting as well
That would be the worst trade ever for the canes. Kochetkov is the future of the Canes and they are not giving him up. Necas and Pesce are also worth a whole lot.
Kochetkov is the future of the Canes. Your taste would be a total fleecing for Carolina and completely delusional.
@@CarolinaBuckrush ya but they are free agents come july and the canes have to many people they have to sign and they wouldn't be able to afford pesce and necas with everyone else
@@drewstott2015first of all you suggested they trade Kochetkov who is their future and also one of the top 20 goalies already and have them give up other assets that they can get way more from other teams? Literally your wholw proposal is fleecing the Canes and having the Leafs get way better players while not giving up much in return. It’s delusional. This is a horrible trade proposal. What’s next are you going to suggest Ryan Reeves for McDavid?
@@drewstott2015 only Pesce is a free agent and the Canes can get so much more and better. Also again suggesting they trade Kochetkov, their future, for practically nothing in return is absurd.
Marner is a grown man, he did say that right? So he'll be alright if he gets traded. LOL
I’d love the hawks to trade jones for Marner. Marner is low risk and jones is absolute trash
Lol @ Graviteh making a video on every stupid hockey story to promote his gambling affiliate links. Hahahaha
He’s going to Nashville for saros and draft picks.
This is honestly the most likely outcome
Chicago: Marner for Seth Jones and a second
Vegas: Declines. They want proven winners.
Utah: Hayton + Ingram + 2nd. Mitch needs to waive though.
NJ: not happening if Keefe becomes the coach.
CLB: Texier + Bean + 2nd. Once again, if Mitch waives.
These are the types of return Marner is going to get.
Why when last yr PLD to the kings was worth more than what you think marner is worth?
@@chucksteptoe9363if Treliving is trying to trade Marner, he’ll be dealing from a position of weakness since Marner’s cap hit is quite high and not a lot of teams can take that on, even with salary retention. It would be another player with one year left on a high cap hit plus some assets for Marner with retention as a rental
Seth Jones has state numerous times, That he has no desire to play in Canada. Especially with that dump in Toronto.
That's the return TO will get for Marner.
I can see LA moving PLD to TO for Marner, one of one though if that makes you feel better.
