This needs to be stopped! I am on Retirement! I worked all my life, and just last week on July 1, 2024 someone electronically stole all my FoodStamps from someplace in Chicago ! I live here in NYC/NJ. Can anyone imagine going to the Supermarket and your balance is zero and now you have no food! And I am a Single person with no other resources! 😥
Agreed like last month had just got my food stamps went to a 711 used it and then went back the following day to see have no money. Turns out someone used it at bj wholesale in Pennsylvania and I’m from Brooklyn. Literally had to report it stolen and got a new card and a refund back

It's happening all over, H-E-B at Houston, TX at bellaire, happened. Also others supermarkets have happened too, I blame the managers for not looking for safety of consumers.
They got me for 647. I went away for a week and left my card with a family member. She called me on my trip and told me it was 2 dollars left on it. I knew that wasn't true. I logged in from where I was and checked my balance and someone from a whole another state took it. Luckily I got it back but I was really upset about that. That's dope you can freeze it. I like that will do ❤

My neighbor an elderly lady had this happen she never got her money back . Yet we still vote for all these local politicians that do absolutely nothing about anything until election time . I didn’t even vote in the local elections for the ppl I never heard of .
My neighbor changes her pin every time she goes to the store and she’s a retired but now disabled senior
Good idea to always change your PIN code after each use. Ideally do it from your home computer and not from the store's POS pad device.

Magnetic strips in conjunction with chip (and RFID) make more sense when you have three strips such a that one is _(Write Once Read Many)_ LTO WORM tape split in 2 by a 1mm gap so it writes _(and reads)_ tape in the card reader at either end of the card _(like a tape drive for a PC archiving data storage)_ and the other two strips are LTO ReWritable tape _(again split by a 1mm gap so it is actually 4 strips since the card-reader can read-and-write at either end of the card),_ both with _(high density tape data storage)_ capacity to store far more reads-and-writes cycles (swipes) than the lifespan of the card by far. This way 3 tape strips are actually 6, so 2 are WORM LTO (LTO strips: "Worm-x" and "Worm-y") and the other 4 are ReWrite LTO magnetic strip _(LTO strips: "ReWrite-a", "ReWrite-b", "ReWrite-c" and "ReWrite-d")._ A chip works somewhat like a TPM module or FIDO2 key so it is encrypted sort of like a LUKS drive.
Ledger instances _(and collision prevention implicit for ledger poisoning)_ would mean a block-chain or cyclic polynomial accumulates on the card. Each swipe would read the chip too, not just the read-write cycle of the LTO tape strips, and the RFID would act as a MFA, or at least 2FA. The data capacity of LTO tape is so high, and the data would be so compressed and archived that swiping a card like that all day all year would not exceed the data capacity and the plastic would wear out first. Placing a fake number pad on it would be an exercise in futility for the hacker and would largely serve to leave forensics against them. The card reader would "know" and the card itself (LTO tape) would "know" when and where the last ledger instance _(or DHT or even round robin if it had to be)_ had been faked. Cards would not clone. The _(WORM LTO)_ Write Once Read Many only writes on a small section of tape once and then adds to the next tiny section of tape also as write-once data. Since a UUID would be marked with also the Auth of the machine reader itself, the card would be secure enough with the tape and no RFID or chip, for one thing, because the machines would have 6G for location and time-date and would not be able to write without their remote Auth, however, they would have the chip and RFID anyway because they are useful for other technologies _(including that LUKS encryption)_ and features and so you might as well incorporate them into the security albeit it over-levelled. It would even be possible to taint (purposefully) the LTO tape with a chemical signature. the card isn't solely swiped but swiped into the machine, left during the transaction processing and then 'unswiped' _('deswiped', whatever)_ out again. It reads-and-writes LTO tape strips in those moments. It also means the card care 'store' small amounts of money on it _(which later gets logged if used)_ so you can still get bare essentials _(baby-formula, a survival protein Bar, water-bottle, and so on)_ in downtime such as if stranded off grid. The value would be little more than a topping up smartphone voucher coupon. That then contributes to reliability metrics.
The LTO strips: "Worm-x" and "Worm-y" are essentially redundancy or backup although one is written after the other, marking itself secondarily with checksum to acknowledge that.
The LTO strips: "ReWrite-a", "ReWrite-b" are different data such as having adhoc data written in situ within "ReWrite-b" ready to update "ReWrite-a" if need be. The LTO "ReWrite-c" is usually empty but allows for data to be swapped _(for maintenance)_ between "ReWrite-a" and "ReWrite-b" so they are not mixed. Think of the data as coloured liquid in glasses. So consider "ReWrite-a" is (metaphorically) blue data and yet "ReWrite-b" is metaphorically red data. therefore the empty LTO "ReWrite-c" allows for the daa contents of "ReWrite-a" to be swapped with "ReWrite-b", using "ReWrite-c" as a temporary location without ending up with mixed purple data _(e.g. transferring "ReWrite-a" to "ReWrite-c" and then "ReWrite-b" overwriting "ReWrite-a" and then the contents of "ReWrite-c" overwrites "ReWrite-a", thereby effectively swapping "ReWrite-a" and "ReWrite-b" without cross contamination)._
LTO strip: "ReWrite-d" is simply a backup of "ReWrite-a". Not only does this act as a safety net (backup) for changes made to LTO strips: "ReWrite-a" resulting from computation with "ReWrite-b", but also "ReWrite-d" thereby allows for error checking.
The card would have 6 strips but it would only look like 3 strips and sufficient room would remain for the (old-school) hand-written signing.

The only way to stop it is having the credit card machine behind the counter and let the cashier swipe your card for you. If you have a pin just have them turn the machine around for you to punch it in. The current problem is thieves have easy access to these machines to put these skimmers in place. Place the machines in a harder to reach place and it will reduce the swapping.

If the money isn't reaching on your benefit card, who is stealing and withholding that benefits. There's this individual. All She has to do is text HRA, and my benefits are being withheld. This has been going on for years, and nothing is happening. When I went to Culinary School through the workforce for 9 months in 2017, all my benefits were withheld and should be recouped. The workers at HRA were listening to thieves and via text and withholding struggling Americans of their benefits. In all government departments, there are crooks that need to be investigated

My food stamps come once a month and lasts a few days. I call it my menstrual.
I used to get 250 a month in ebt and 100 cash assistance but once the migrant crisis game it got canceled lol
U not the only one i know someone that had did there recertification before the deadline & there case was closed for not doing it on time.
They requested a Fair hearing still havent had one & its been 7 months.

Swiped my card at 7/11 .. they stole my entire benefit. Records said the amount was withdrawn in queens! These people are making a living… that’s really low.
