A year late, but they are the same individual along with Don Genie. Not a lackey. It's less likely them thinking he sucked and just… the anime writers not knowing what to do with the new characters so late in the series. (last 8-10 episodes)
Dark Schneider introduced me to snaking. I didn't know if snaking until I wanted to use Dark Schneider. In order to use that vehicle, because turning and acceleration are horrible with that, I always set the pickup graph to max acceleration. After a while of using Dark Schneider I noticed how sliding accelerated the car.
The cruel irony is that Dark Schneider actually has an overpowered stat spread (when looking at the game's real, technical stat values.) The problem is that the Dark Schneider has an abnormally high drag value. Whereas every other machine's drag is 0.01 or 0.011, Dark Schneider's is 0.015. If you reduce Dark Schneider's drag to a normal value, it becomes the consistently fastest AI in GP mode.
Gee, I wonder why they did that... Honestly, though, it's probably a case of making the machine too powerful, realizing their mistake, then being too heavy-handed on fixing it and causing all new problems. I wonder how it performs with drag set at 0.012 or 0.013.
@@VestedUTuber Drag in general is one of the worst speeds I've seen in gaming ever. It reduces your top speed, acceleration, *and* speed retention all at once. They also didn't have to give it that much drag for it to be relatively balanced. At 0.011 it's only a little faster than Fat Shark (factoring in lower acceleration), and it's not very difficult to beat in Chapter 8 on very hard. (Max speed at 100% would be 1140, ten higher than Black bull. 50% would be 1083 which is fairly fast for that setting.)

Oh, yes. Chapter 8 wasn't that much of a trouble even on Very Hard. The trickiest parts in my opinion were to figure out which mines I had to blow up in lap 1 and master the track at least a bit, but Deathborn himself is a joke (which is somewhat anticlimactic tbh).
This reminds me of a GAME FAQ I found back in the day. It had THIS to say about Deathborn: Normal Mode: I laugh in his general direction! Hard Mode: Oh look, he learned how to boost! I forget what Very Hard said.
A video talking about the REAL stats of every (or at least for parts) vehicle could be interesting. Not everyone knows about that, and i'm sure the bunny flash isn't the most top vehicle in the game, despiste their stats (A-B-D, better than custom machines from X and better than King Meteor for example) the game fakes the stats.
I personally found chapter 4 the easiest, but this one was pretty low on the difficulty tier list. I would say the 3 hardest for me (in no order) were 7, 5, and 1, and the 3 easiest (in no order) were 8, 6, and 4. As for his machine, it's one good thing is that it handles quite well for one of the heavy weights, though that positive aspect becomes irrelevant once you reach a certain skill level (thus leaving only the negatives). I do remember kid-me liking it more way way back because it didn't slip all over the place like Black Bull, at least until I got better at controlling the heavy weights.
So, basically, draw near, let him attack, then just SpeedRun? I could have been straight up bullying this guy this whole time if I knew I could just do that!
I think what they meant to do was have this machine have higher speed 'and' acceleration, while it's turning is worse than the black bull. If that had happened, it would have been worth the hype.
Don't get why everyone says this mission's easy, I find it incredibly hard. Deathborn's not that fast but the track itself is just nasty, there's so many tough corners and the mines come at you so fast you can barely react. Takes a lot of memorization to know where the mines are and which ones to blow up early. And all the sharp turns make my fingers hurt and I keep hitting walls :( The last turn before the finish is especially mean, you can barely make it and you hit a mine if you go too wide. Plus you gotta pass Deathborn with speed or else he annihilates you. The soundtrack does however SLAP.
It actually very much could have, its stat spread in the game data is insane. Problem is that the devs overcompensated for that by giving it too high of a drag value, which massively holds it back. Most machines have a drag value of 0.01 or 0.011, whereas Dark Schneider has a drag value of 0.015. But if you set it to a normal drag value through memory editing, it actually becomes overpowered.
This video made me realize how terrible I am at this track. All I have left is 7, 8, and 9 on very hard to clear for story mode and I'm more ashamed each day that I don't clear 8.
Wow...I think it's cuz u make it LOOK easy! I mean I never found that Chapter to be easy at all! You can easily bounce around the course, go off course w/ too much speed, the Dark Schnider ganging on you w/ brutal spin attacks, etc. I still find him to be intimidating, despite the easy difficulty! Not even Ephraim found it easy either! th-cam.com/play/PLP6yl3lTYzJ4AgQPDie7m21nlCDfMleda.html
Man, I don’t get it! On Normal and Hard I cleared this challenge easy! But I’ve had 100s of attempts on Very Hard, only to end up with failure and little progress! What am i doing wrong?
Yo, quick update: I did it! My key to go all in on acceleration and stay on the center of the track as much as possible! It’s really more of a battle against the track than Deathborn. Although, I only managed to pass him at the last lap at the last curve! My heart was beating so fast!
Well, you use side attacks and very fast drifts (are they MTS?) to get through sharp turns. Without advanced techniques this track is much harder - I beat very hard today and it took me 10 seconds more than you (only lap 1 is similar). Tracks in other chapters are easier, even if the AI is more difficult

I liked how in the F Zero anime, it was Deathborn who was Black Shadow's lackey. It's like they KNEW he sucked.

this video legit helped me to beat chapter 8 on very hard. thanks for this
Glad to hear you prevailed over that track!

If I may ask, where are you finding these values? I can't seem to find them anywhere on Google, but maybe I just haven't looked hard enough

Yeah. Once you figure this track out, it becomes a regular Sunday Drive. It's like Deathborn isn't even there.
And I question why Deathborn thinks how he lost.

Real shame the Dark Schneider wasn't as good of a machine as it should've been, especially since it's the coolest-looking one in the series.

After replaying on F-Zero GX, after an hour of retries... Finally, this SOB got his ass-beat...!
Geez, to think I couldn't beat this back then
In this chapter we face the devil who created the previous chapter
3:47 Well they certainly aren’t my friends, because they take out WAY too much health and most of the time just launch me right off the track.
How did this guy become the Underworld champion?
That's what I wanna know.
Probably something to do with having the biggest shoulders in the Roster
Maybe because everyone else is super incompetent.
I bet everyone else in the F-ZERO Underworld is too afraid and they just let him win
This video made me realize how terrible I am at this track. All I have left is 7, 8, and 9 on very hard to clear for story mode and I'm more ashamed each day that I don't clear 8.
My freand couldn`t handle Black Bull so he drived this.
Its really good for beginners.
I concur with this. When I was really shitty at the game I preferred this over the Black Bull since it didn't slip as much.
First person I've seen who calls Deathborn bad and had an easy time. I had a lot of difficulties against him in Very Hard.
11:36 CAPTAIN THRUST!!!!
