    Just purchased this watch and I love it. Fits almost perfect. The color is a brown tone with a little copper accent. So easy to read the time. I was looking into purchasing a Alpinist, now I can put it off for a while. Thanks for the video, it was well done and not boring.

    I bought the SRPA71K1 and replaced the bracelet with a horween Zuludiver 22mm in brown and black and love the watch. These watches have every bit of the quality you'd expect with the Prospex line, and excels in legibility and lum. I believe I paid $209 at Amazon, and for what you're getting....really why buy a SKX?
    The only reason I see is 1) if you want a watch you can/will mod 2) need a diver.

  • @hpwan2

    maybe also check this out: SRPD33K1
    green dial - check
    inner bezel and compass - check
    automatic movement - check
    200m water resistance - check
    it's still 4R36, but i guess everyone else in the price range gets that too.

    Benn trying to find this watch and it looks like its been discontinued...Its successor seems to be the SRPD33 series. You think you might get a chance to review these? I would buy the SRPD33 myself right now but its more expensive and hard to get for some reason. Jomanshop got an awesome sale coming up on it but trying to find reviews on the new watch is like pulling teeth.
    Anyway this was a great review. Thanks!

    I dunno I think the leather strap gives it a bit of a vintage feel. Maybe a Nato or Paratrooper strap for and Outdor trip but as an everyday? I'd stick to the brown leather. Either maybe this would be a good watch for a variety of straps. lol

  • @lazmonti
    @lazmonti 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This watch has a case diameter of 42mm not the 45mm as the video states. Other important spec is the lug width being 21 mm which makes buying aftermarket straps more difficult.

    • @WatchGeek
      @WatchGeek  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      True i made a mistake, thanks for the info

    • @josh33172
      @josh33172 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that just depends. With metal bracelets, yes (and the metal bracelet that came with my SRPA71K1 left a lot to be desired), but with NATO in nylon or leather, no problems fitting a 22mm. I am actually wearing my mine right now with a 22mm Horween Leather Zuludiver and everything slides through smoothly. Now I did have to work to get the thicker NATO straps through, but once in place on the bars, it worked great!
      In the end, this is not a dress watch, nor do I think it really works to try to dress it up. This watch is definitely a casual/outdoors/utilitarian watch and as such really works best with something other than the metal bracelet that mine came with.

    • @TaswcmT
      @TaswcmT 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@josh33172 I read an Amazon review that also said 21 mm. (I measured my Certina DS Caimano, which is claimed to have a lug width of 19 mm - but I measured both lug width and the leather strap to be over 20, and the case diameter was 39, not 38 mm - so the specs given e.g. on Amazon are in need of a pinch of salt. Either that or my caliper sucks.)
      If the lug width is really 21 mm, that means NATO straps of 20 mm would be a bit too narrow - but would this be the case for all watches with a supposed lug width of 20 mm? With so many watches being specified as having 20 mm lug width, I was hoping to be able to "standardize" my future purchases, and have a single set of 20 mm wide straps - It would either have to be 20 or 22, since 21 seems to be more of an exotic choice.
      I think this watch would look great with a green or camo strap.

    I have both the alpinist and the black faced version of this watch. I do wish that it had a screw down crown like the alpinist. I am always nervous about swimming with a watch that doesn't have a screw down crown. Otherwise it's a great watch and it wears a lot smaller than the 45 mm size.

    • @WatchGeek
      @WatchGeek  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sam D. Oh wow you have a great taste!
      I wouldn't worry about not swimming without a screw-down crown as I have been using my SNK805 in the water for years.
      The only thing is that with age the gaskets will lose their properties so make sure to maintain them or have them replaced

Keeps lousy time on top of that. "Professional Specs" my foot! Everyone makes mistakes, and Seiko is no exception. Someone get me eBay on the phone quick.
