If you live where the water gets really hard in the winter, those kiddie poles make excellent "ice" fishing rods. I just got a "Spiderman" one in awesome shape. I gave that one to a neighbor kid that is tired of sharing a rod with his sister. the joy in his eyes was awesome.
You didn’t get skunked so that’s a good thing. You also shared with the youngsters what magnet fishing was about and gave them some discoveries. Not a bad day. Thanks for sharing.
my best find so far is a 9mm pistol, no clip, very bad shape. turned it into the cop shop, have heard nothing more about it. If you have a nice sized boat, I could show you where to get all kinds of old guns......in the Detroit River in Ecorse, Michigan. The Detroit police used to dump old weapons (evidence and confiscated). Now they dump them in the blast furnace at Ford Rouge Plant in detroit, Michigan. But they dumped in the river from about 1920 till about 1985.
I went on my first attempt yesterday, tried from a kayak next to about 10 docks on a lake, didn't find even a fish hook! Using the 250lb from K & J, what could I be doing wrong? I was just kind of bouncing it off the bottom over and over.
Cody Gaudet ..... I think the advantage of going to public fishing piers is that people set things on the railings and then knock them into the water. That is the only thing I can think of. This last video is a little bit of evidence towards that because these metal rails don't have a place where you can set things on top and I wasn't getting anything.
When you show people where you're hunting, many make a beeline for your spot. I know, I made that mistake. Now when I go to my spot, there is hardly anything left for me.
MNpicker ... Yeah, looks to be in good shape. It is stainless and aluminum, so it can sit down there a while. But it didn't have the crusty deposits on it, so you are probably right that it is a fresh drop.
I had to cut the rope on my 500 neo. mag. Because I latched onto a 1600 lb. block of concrete with a steel plate attached to it in 15 feet of weedy, dirty, mucky bottom lake. 3 men and a 2,000 lb. come-along only moved it 1 inch. We almost sank the floating county park dock.......lol I only fish with 249 lb. pull neo mags now.
It happens... I haven't had an experience like that yet. But with how much more I bring out with the 500 i feel like it out weighs the risk of possibly getting it stuck and having to get a new one. I 'like Found It' mostly fish off nice docks in fresh water lakes. I have pulled out a wall mart shopping cart tho... that wasn't fun and at one of the places I go they built a floating pear and left the remains of the old dock in the water... So Iv had to pull out a few 1/4 inch thick 3inch in diameter and ranging 3- 6feet those weren't fun... its always nice to have a buddy there to help you pull up the crazy stuff!
I'm ready for some magnet fishing, I'm just waiting ( impatiently lol.) for my magnet from Amazon.
