    Thank you! I am rebuilding one for a marine application. I disassembled the carb and every single step you made will make my assembly much easier.

    I need to replace the vacuum pulloff on the metal bracket of a divorced choke. How do you pry or remove it from the bracket? Thanks

    • @76vette
      @76vette  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s usually held in place by two prongs that are part of the bracket itself, so you want to pry those open to remove it. 😊👍🏻

    you produce some excellent videos.. spending time explaining things, zooming in, and showing issues are just a few components that create your quality. I watched several when I owned a C3 and then traded for a 1970 C10 which happens to have a Quad on it and your help goes on!.. Thanks again.

    I subscribe to you now. Another great video with excellent views. That's a cool base with the Chevy flags. That's enough to inspire me to make a few bases for various models. I'm going to have to dig up some respective emblems. Thanks.

    Great video! I've never rebuilt a quadra jet yet, but plenty Carter AVS and Thermoquad carburetor's and Holley 4150's. But now that I'm getting back into Corvette's I may have to tackle one in the future, best thing is i can go back to your videos if i get lost on one along the way! Thanks for sharing!

      Thank you so much for watching my Quadrajet videos. And I hope they’re helpful. I recently rebuilt a 702 that’s going on a 68 Vette with a 350, so there will be at least one more Qjet video. And that’s it for a while. lol 😆

    Great video, I have done that with the secondary lockout lever a bunch of times. It's one of things I always double check when I put a quadrajet back together. You might wanna check your base plate screws. Sometimes when the secondary lockout lever gets stuck like that the base plate screws need to be retightened because the lever prevents the base plate screws from tightening all the way when it is stuck like that. I learned the hard way a few times and had a vacuum leak at the base plate.

      Thank you! And yes, I always go over every single screw to ensure there are no leaks. Thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻

    Any advice for finding decent unmolested units to practice rebuilding on? I’d like to try it myself but don’t wanna go all in on my running carb.

    • @76vette

      That’s the smart approach!
      I usually see Quadrajets at swap meets, and if you can find one that matches yours, even better. Write down the carburetor numbers and bring them with you to ensure you’re buying the right carburetor.
      Learning how to decode the numbers is not hard so do some research to be prepared.
      Sometimes you can find one on Craigslist or the FB Marketplace.
      Prices can be all over the map, but expect to spend anywhere from $50 to $75 for a carb in good condition. Older Quadrajets usually cost more.
      And buy one for a Chevy so you’ll be able to install it without much trouble and run it while rebuilding the original unit.
      If your car has auto trans, make sure the one you buy is for an automatic. AFAIK, Quadrajets for cars with 4-speed manual transmissions will not have a kick down lever.
      Good luck and thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻

      @@76vette I have the same carburetor and my mechanic tell me the float is sticking on the one That I have could it be that I mess with the idle screw for the fuel that’s got a few porn everywhere is that why thank you greatly appreciate it

    • @76vette
      @76vette  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cadillac9142 The idle screw would not make the float stick. The culprit, most likely, are the needle and seat, so I would start there. And if the float is damaged or defective, have it replaced at the same time. Actually, a carb rebuild may not be a bad idea. Good luck 😊👍🏻
