I'd even say that Pat Metheny could learn something here... Perhaps not specifically jazz-wise. Something more general, human-wise. Personally, I find that Mr. Metheny is missing something very subtle but fundamental about musical expression. This shows in his compositions, as well as in his playing. Even though he is a nuanced virtuoso and sophisticated composer, I always wonder - who is he, really? With Mateus, I somehow find him as a person in his music. It's like Pat Metheny presents his music as a creation of his that he is wearing himself, like beautiful clothes. Mateus, on the other hand, plays his music as if his heart is singing directly, which uncovers more of who he is. No question, Pat shows a heartbeat underneath that clothing :) But it's like Mateus' soul is ITSELF in the music. ... Anyway - just personal thoughts :)
@@danielbarbu1513 i disagree about Metheny... I think his music is one of the most beautiful/soulful of the modern era. He's like Debussy on guitar. Mateus is also a virtuoso, they have their own ways of expression. That's the best thing about music
