Neat idea. But for Thorax to be Shining's son he'd have needed to be conceived, born and grown to maturity in about two weeks considering he was part of the attack on Canterlot. I don't think even Chrissy can spit them out that quickly. That said. It's a wickedly funny idea. Massive kudos ;)

Well, of course Starlight looked gut punched during that song. Spike and Twiggles had her first major disagreement since she was around, and she was caught somewhere in the middle. Like, she saw how everyone except for Spike and Steve were ready to kick Steve´s ass to the other end of the world, and Spike sang a song about former badguys turning good. Starlight felt like she should say something about it, like how she changed in the past, but at the same time she didn´t think it was her place to say anything, since she wasn´t around during the Canterlot Wedding.
Chrissy’s voice being a form of intimidation is actually pretty accurate to irl bugs! Beetles do something called stridulation and it’s a cool vibration sound. I think that voice may be a reference to that!

And I think DWK actually nailed it on an earlier episode, since even from the start, a lot of the hate started out because whether people want to admit it or not, they're jealous of him.
Given how even Chrysalis didn't have the reverb in that alternate timeline, I'm guessing it was an intimidation display meant to play up her alien nature rather than her default voice. That or the sound guys who did it don't work for the show anymore and never left any notes on how they did it.
I honestly think that train is cursed and who so ever gets on it must tell exposition to anyone near them, even if they should already know what's going on. Except when they have to solve a mystery because the train's kind of a dick and doesn't want to help others.

Not only is it the best Spike episode of the entire series, it's also one of _the best_ episodes of the _entire_ series, period, and right after back-to-back 0/10 episodes (Cart Before and 28 Pranks) had made it clear the show is officially in the grip Seasonal Rot, too. Just an impressive outing all the way around that proved the show still has the potential to do great things.

I like that he analyzes the characters!! I do too! It just further emphasizes the fact that the show has evolved. Not to throw shade on the original but they didn't exactly have any difficult problems to deal with.
Also I love spike in this episode! A lot of the time they give him tiny tasks or something to do just to give him something to do, but here it makes sense that it's a "spike episode" because he's actually doing something important. Don't just give your characters an episode unless you have them doing something meaningful. His song and that whole scene is beautiful and this episode is amazing.
Yet another episode that shows part of why I like Spike. I gotta say, I prefer the "Totally Legit" version of Spike's apology compared to the ballad sung, but if a guy is willing to stand up for you by singing in front of everyone, he's a true friend.

I was kinda hoping the changelings would stay as a terrifying enemy since they're a pretty cool one and that spike would actually be a changeling trying to convince them that not all changelings are bad as more or less a distraction as the changelings swiftly capture everyone and replace all of them. Then the changelings would rush into the throne room with fake Spike and the obvious changeling as well as Cadence and Shining Armor before stating grievances and kicking them out of their royal seats and sending them home while the changelings now have full control over the crystal empire.
I think the thing about Chrysalis' voice is that she speaks in the form of a hive-mind. Her voice has that echo so it is easier picked up by her changewing subjects, that thus follow her orders.
The more comments I get on them, the more I realize people think I just find midi files of songs and then change the instruments, but actually all my intro music is done from scratch. I usually pick stuff where I already know the bass or guitar part to make it easier on myself, but yeah, it's all manically thrown together over the course of an afternoon.
I don't see why you even have to ask; clearly Chryssy would deliberately change her voice to amplify her creepiness. If her voice naturally sounded like that, she'd do something to make it sound even more unsettling.
