to fight corona virus aggressively! How?
1. Total travel ban to and from China, Hong Kong, Italy, S. Korea and other countries with high incidence of infection.
2. Massive education drive on corona virus and prevention, down to barangay level, e.g. proper hand washing, what to do if an outbreak comes
3. Do not rely on PCR test kits as they are not 100% accurate. People with symptoms should undergo Chest CT Scan as it is more accurate as I learned. We cannot just accept a person who shows symptoms and tested negative on the blood test.
4. Increase your chances of surviving incase you get the virus by ensuring your immune system is extremely good. e.g. have enough sleep 8-9 hrs, stop smoking, eat high vit C food/fruits and well balanced diet, exercise, etc
4. Govenment should plan ahead incase of an outbreak. They should ask themselves, do we have enough resources? Do we have enough manpower, do we have enough budget? Do we have enough medical equipments, supplies and facilities? Do all the health providers like doctors, nurses, RT, have enough trainings? And many other questions to ask themselves. All private and public hospitals should allocate isolation rooms for patients that might come with flu like symptoms. All staff should be properly trained in handling these patients. Let's all be prepared than not prepared at all!
5. Continue to update yourselves on world news about corona virus. I personally follow the updates of an American Pulmonologist based in California Dr Roger Seheult. Follow his updates and share what you learned to everyone you know. This is what I've been doing for the last few weeks just passed. I hope our government is watching his updates aswell. 6. Avoid watching videos, posting and sharing to social media anyting about Sars- Cov-2/ covid- 19 that has NO factual basis like on how to cure or prevent the disease. Someone posted that garlic can cure, drinking hot water can cure, etc. There are no actual studies of these so I regard them as Fake News! Let's not be mis informed and don't mis informed anyone. One doctor says in an interview that we don't have much incidence here because it is warmer in the Philippines and the virus don't thrive in warmer climate. Well Singapore is warmer than we are right now but they do have many cases.
7. Stop eating exotic animals, wild animals belong to the wild! I've known some Filipinos eating snakes, bayawak ( monitor lizard), wild birds, etc
8. Avoid public toilets if you can, avoid crowded places, avoid big gatherings. If you just been to places where there is an outbreak, be responsible and do a self quarantine. If you started coughing, sneezing and have a fever more than 38' C and any other flu like symptoms, isolate yourself and call the doctor/hospital to alert them. Do not go to the hospital unless your symptoms becomes severe like difficulty of breathing or having respiratory distress. You need to call the hospital first before you go there so they are better prepared to accept you. For the meantime drink plenty of water.
