Is it just me or Raphael is actually one of the most humble youtuber ever? I believe all of us agree we really want to have a friend like Raphael.. so funny, so humble, so down to earth, so modest!!
It's a great idea for a series. Keeping it real by mentioning you went over budget is important as there is such a reality gap on what someone can afford even just for food in a day. The free coffee though was sort of a cheat because it in reality was part of the cost for the room. In the past I would go to a restaurant with a friend & order hot water (because free) and bring a tea bag from home so that I could have a drink with my meal without paying the extra I couldn't afford. I would also bring home creamers like you did. Looking forward to seeing what else you get up to!
I wouldn't say a cheat, he's not showing how to live as someone who regularly lives in that city- he's showing a tourist pov and a challenge not reality- I mean if he was even an airbnb (house like living) he could have bought food from a dollar store and cooked at the airbnb or if he lived there he'd have groceries and most airbnbs provide coffee and sometimes snacks- I personally live somewhere I have to drive to get places and I'd end up at a dollar tree bc we don't have little 1 family owned stores or bakeries with cheap food-
Yeah but in my country they charge us even for water and the cup..but tbh If you can bring tea bag from home than you might as well heat some water at home...you still have payed for the tea bag and u still have paid for the water and electricity to heat it...idk if it`s not a cheat too
"I get why they were rude" ... absolutely NOT, there is never a reason to be rude, and the fact that they want you to spend hundreds of dollars in their restaurant they should be respectful, it's about the whole experience not just the food, don't ever excuse that behavior
They probably need to be rude so they get less customers if their food is really good. But then again if rude rich people are majority of the customers then she probably just assumed he was going to be rude to her. On the other hand if she's being rude maybe she's having a really bad day in which case I would always just be kind and smile.
@@leahwilson56 it's called the "service" industry, you are there to serve, if they continue to be rude, regardless of how great the food is, people won't come back, and if she is having a bad day, she needs to leave the attitude at home and fake it till she makes it
Great idea for a series. Years ago, Racheal Ray from Food Network did a series going from town to town on a budget. Very popular at the time. In today’s economy it would be just as interesting to see you continue this series.
My parents took us on a couple vacations when I was a kid (we were poor) and one of the things we did to save money was bring our own food. We'd also do research ahead of time so we had a list of things we could do in the city that were either free or dirt cheap. We'd take advantage of museum free days, use coupons for aquariums and planetariums, visit suburban botanical gardens (usually free or just a donation to get in), go to the beach, visit local farmers' markets, and go on hikes. There's still a decent amount of things people can do for fun for free, but you really have to be creative these days.
This was a great video. I loved seeing the different experiences you were able to have based on budget. Would love to see more in different cities too! Many blessings ❤️
If you ever go to Seattle you have to go to the restaurant at the top of the space needle! It rotates as you eat so you get the whole view of the city it’s so cool! It’d definitely have to be the expensive day if you were doing this type of video but I think you’d find the spinning restaraunt so cool!
Hershey's chocolate used to be really good, the reason for that is because when the cocoa butter price went up. They couldn't use as much as they used to and the taste changed.
Raphael, you're the true wizard of budgeting! With $5, you managed to stretch time like a rubber band and fit in a whole day of New York adventures. But with $500, you must have stumbled upon a time machine because suddenly 24 hours turned into a week of luxury experiences. Next up, let's see what happens when you spend $5 million and bend the fabric of space-time itself!
You should do a video about freegan life / dumpster diving for food and/or free pantries and foodbanks. This would be a great way to use your platform to bring attention to food poverty.
If anyone is planning a trip to NY for the first time and wants to do stuff like this (20:47), I know that the Empire State experience holds so much history, and if you have the chance and financial ability to do it then go for it, it honestly is pretty great to see the history behind how it was built and being up there as well. However, if you want a similar experience with different interactive rooms, 360 views, and a terrace that you can take awesome pictures at checkout the Summit Experience at the Summit One Vanderbilt and see if it interests you because it’s another great option. I went in the winter time last year, and then, it was $39 for a ticket, coming around $43 with taxes (it probably costs more now, and the price does fluctuate with the day and time (i.e. weekends and sunset hours are more expensive)), but it was honestly a great experience as well. Edit: fixed typo
The coffee beans were placed in a whiskey barrel, and absorbed the whiskey flavor. They actually sell the same beans at Chicago’s Starbucks reserve. They make a good gift for somebody who likes whiskey and enjoys strong coffees. You should try Las Vegas that’s a whole different level. Places are not close together even though they look close and things are significantly increasing in prices but there’s a lot of places that keep the prices low on purpose to draw people in. Just an idea.
I love how down to earth you are. Great video and if I was your camera man I would have stole that pastry from you lol. Definitely make this a series go to a state with a small town
It's actually not uncommon to pay roughly $1.50 for an apple from the loose/bulk section of any grocery store. There are some apples you can spend even more on. I really enjoyed seeing a bit of New York! Thanks for the video!
Those chunks are normal in coffee when you don't have a good filter. You could leave it aside for a while, then put it carefully in another cup so that the chunks will remain at the bottom of the first cup.
As an American, agreed. However I live in California, on the opposite side of America. I’ve never been to New York, but I’ve heard it can be expensive. I think because it’s a “tourist trap” lol.😢😅
