Do and dont like controllers am more of a separate mixer and couple of turntables. But if ever get up and decide i want a two channel controller this denon prime 2 would defo the one by far. Had a mixtrack pro 2 and pioneer sb3 there ok but what really draws me in is the standalone features of the prime series. Good review on this controller by the way
You should be ashamed of yourself, trying to compare this to any of that cheap plastic garbage made by pioneer... The 2 is, hands down, a much better unit than any controller or standalone made by pioneer.. All metal construction instead of cheap plastic garbage. My jog wheels don't peel apart when I try to take my fingers off of them like some of that cheap Pioneer trash.
The screen on this and the prime 4 need to be detachable for easy replacement if they get cracked/damaged. They could have easily made the screen adjustable on this one btw.
What's your recommendations for the mixer settings inside the unit for basic mixing? I'm not seeing anything online for this. Specifically, the EQ and Filters. Thanks
I used the 7 day trial of tidal with the prime 2. Worked fine, there's a very short delay of the waveform being scanned but that doesn't stop thetrack playing immediately. If I was a streamer needing a massive library I'd definitely use it. Lots of playlists to help you find things quickly. Tidal had every track I could think of going back decades and even has scratch sample packs. I haven't tried the beatPort link yet.
PLEASE Denon, follow the example of the Prime 4 / VDJ and *add Serato DJ Pro support for the Prime 2* as well! Then you would have the true 2-channel BEAST 😎 on the market, thanks to great flexibility, and more Pioneer SR/SX/RX users like me could switch. The Prime 4 is great, yes, but bulky and not everyone needs all channels. Thank you!
Serato DJ is a must-have for the Prime 2, especially since it just has the smaller 7" screen, making the use of a laptop e.g. during wedding gigs a must-have for me.

I have question about hot cues. I was trying Prime 2 today and there was one thing I couldn't figure out. Whe I use my MC3000 together with Virtual DJ I use a lot of Hot Cues. The cool thing is that each time I use any of my Hot Cues and then press CUE button music stops at the last Hot Cue I used instead of going back to "main" cue point ( the one next to PLAY button ). It's so annoying that in Prime 2 each time I am testing my Hot Cues I have to find the way to go to the one I like. For example I want to jump to one of them and prepare loop... If I just pres hot cue button It starts playing and I cant set the loop. I hope you understand what I mean. Is this possible to make Prime going back to last Hot Cue I used? I was testing only with original OS without updating.

If you want to use a DJ controller as a big oversized video game controller then buy one of those Pioneer plastic pieces of fucking shit... Sorry man I just had to get that out of my system.. The Prime 4 works with Serato the Prime 2 works with virtual DJ.. If you absolutely must stare at your computer the entire time you play there are ways you can do that with the two and the four... But once again I have to ask, why the fuck would anybody want to actually do this with a standalone system?? The system is much more powerful when it's not running in computer mode.
The unit runs in standalone mode so technically you don't need to do anything other than just have music files on an SSD or flash drive... Having said that.... If you do have a laptop or desktop computer I highly recommend that you download engine DJ 2.2 (current revision at time of comment.) And use their software to analyze your music before putting it into the prime 2... Even though the Prime 2 can analyze on the fly, it is not the fastest thing in the world. When you analyze your music in advance with the software and use that to prep your SSD or flash drive, the internal software can load the song directly without having to locally analyze them first.. An absolute must for modern-day quick mixing techniques.. Your mileage may vary.. But I ended up getting the Samsung Evo 1 TB drive and just installing it in the 2.5 inch bay on the bottom..
Engine DJ just released a huge update like a week ago. I don't think they would be doing that if they were not so worried about it.. I've had mine for about a year now and the engagement between engine DJ and their users on their forums is amazing. They haven't slowed down one bit. Engine DJ has quite the dedicated team. I use my Prime too almost everyday and the only time I've ever had a problem was whenever it was brand new and one of the faders didn't work right and then it did a worry-free return and replace policy. It was actually pretty headache free.. I got my replacement unit about 2 weeks or 3 weeks later and I have not had a single problem since.. The huge engine DJ 2.2 update that just recently came out fixed a couple of things in the software that I never even noticed and made the engine lighting via sound switch so much better. I have one unit and it controls the sound and the lighting and has made me the head of the party every time I've used it. Absolutely love my Prime 2 standalone DJ console, and from the looks of the forums it looks like thousands and thousands of others do as well.. (And those are just the ones nerdy enough to get on a DJ forum..)

After years of looking at my laptop and trying to squint to see Serato and barely getting any response on my dance floor, I got the prime 2, & my face isn't stuck in a computer screen so I can pay more attention to my crowd and the dance floor has responded in kind...
I went with the 2 because I don't need battery powered portability.. I kind of like having a little extra room and a normal looking mixture section. Just my humble opinion.

its not a controller, its 2 media players and a mixer in one unit, like the pioneer xdj rx

Its all down to preference, I suggest tinkering till you find what suits you the best as one persons setup might be awful for someone else
Does tidal cover 70s and 80s? Is it fast seems smooth

You need to set the mode of your hot cue buttons. You don't have to have them in trigger mode..
