- In this Pokemon Scarlet and Violet video my friend and I randomize our starter Pokemon, but we can only tell each other their name origin. After we choose six Pokemon we will then battle each other!

Dragapult - Dragon + Catapult
Corviknight - Corvid + Knight
I think it's a little funny how they both have pretty straightforward name origins!
Mine is
weasel - small mammal with a long body
vile - unpleasant, wretched
Mine is pretty straightforward too:
Mimikyu -“mimic” + “you”

Empoleon had motor drive which doesn’t get hit by any electric moves, usually this isn’t the case for it

@@omarvilousYe, cause most.. actually all the names in the first round were literally just the two words smashed together and you could practically hear the Pokemon's name when the words were said (albeit you need to know of the Pokémon).
The definitions alone however forces you to think first of the words and then the Pokémon or try to skip right to the Pokémon
I'm glad they eventually changed to not reading all the actual words they're describing because as we saw it gives it away pretty easily since every last one is a unique combination lol

Also arceus is not latin for god. It derives from the Greek word ἀρχαῖος which means "the first one" and later it took the modernized meaning of "the oldest one" or even "something way too old". Latin just borrowed the word and its meaning. Same like what Pokémon did.

0:18 while "nite" can depict a knight soldier, I believe the second part of Dragonite is not Dragon-nite but rather Dragon-ite being something that resembles or shares similar attributes to a dragon
