Great songs and artists don’t necessarily catch fire instantly as they did in decades past. Sometimes they have to be unearthed through ads, tv shows, movies, Spotify playlists, etc. Rest assured Caroline Rose will be adored one day.
Tonight April 3, 2022 is actually a huge day in her career. She sold out the Troubadour in Hollywood, CA, the same place that launched Elton John's career on the world stage in 1970, and the career of Linda Rondstadt.
Heard this for the first time today in 2023 while waiting for my drink at a Starbucks. As much as I hate that statement, I instantly got caught in the groove and I’m completely glad that it brought me here because this song is a VIBE 🕺🏽
I'm 60 years old and heard my sons playing this song. Just so different from everything else. Love the back story too. Caroline Rose is a bit of a genius.
First heard this song as an angsty, depressed teen during the pandemic. Now, I’m a college kid aimlessly wandering through Atlanta trying to find a purpose. I can’t keep letting life pass me by. This song is everything to me.
Lol Caroline cracks me up. I've only recently discovered their stuff and am loving that I can get such an overview of their creative journey. People here lamenting this wasn't a bigger hit, but I'm being selfish when I say I think CR's trajectory is perfect because if anything was different I wouldn't have The Art of Forgetting, which I hold so dear.
The Synth Chords at the start set an eerie tone the. The bass line kicks in for a little groove than the melody comes then Caroline with her vocals this song is perfect
Yeah, the vocal effect is very smooth and haunting -- you can tell she had a good engineer and producer, too, the people behind the scenes who don't get enough credit at times, like what Babyface did for the smash hit "Rock Steady" by The Whispers, a great example. That was 90% Babyface, their best song, and the only hit of theirs he produced.
i heard this song at a gas station and downloaded it cause the melody and tune was so damn catchy. after listening to it a ton of times, this song makes me think of what the fate of my future is with marriage, children, and having a home of my own. But it makes me sad because it makes me feel like i won't be able to attain it. this song is so addicting but it's also kinda sad when i listen lol
So happy for the success of this song. Well deserved. It is a phenomenal album with a genre here, genre there, everywhere a genre, a la Elvis Costello and The Clash. Caroline Rose knows what’s up and deserves tons of success. She don’t mess around. Props to a great band as well. 😎
I just heard this today in a coffee shop. Asked the barista if they could find out the name of song (right as it was ending). Everyone working there was on a mission- looking at the tablet, trying to repeat the lyrics etc. They figured it out, replayed it, and we were bopping! I've listened to it 6 times in a row now. Love finding new music, even if it's 5 years old!
Well, it's enjoyable enough, but have you discovered some great metaphysical message in the lyrics that I've overlooked? Did you have to play it backwards to find it? Would the hungry people say - "this is better than food"?
@@kmac1130 Dear ThinSlicedTuna: Don't you mean "Wot?" Or even who improved the steam engine in 1776? Watt. I don't think just commenting "what" is doing your online reputation any favours at all. Not even for an ocean-going fish thinly filleted.
my stepdad played this once while we were cleaning the house years ago and i still remember the feeling of hearing this song for the first time. Then i played the song when i worked at a froyo shop 2 years ago. the song never grows old.
This song is going to be on some random Netflix hit show in the next couple years and then it will finally blow up like we all know it should
I can actually really see this happening
I'm still shocked that this song didn't become a WAY bigger hit than it did.
theres still time
It's too cool for modern people, who struggle with irony and acerbic wit
Great songs and artists don’t necessarily catch fire instantly as they did in decades past. Sometimes they have to be unearthed through ads, tv shows, movies, Spotify playlists, etc. Rest assured Caroline Rose will be adored one day.
Share tf out of it!
truth
Every once in a while you hear a song that is so wonderful it stops you in your tracks......this is one of them.
Heard it at the gas station and downloaded it straight away
I hear you brother. This is superb.
Nadia Venice same
Amen
Spotify served it up to me one day and now I can't get enough of this song...
A hyperunderrated song… should be sountrack of a Great movie. I enjoy it while i drink at the beach. Sounds like a reel of my best times…
Have you seen the movie Ruby Sparks? I feel that this song would be perfect with the theme of the movie.
I love this funky little weirdo! She’s so talented but with a great blend of humor and social commentary.
same
Yeah, when she does her hip twirl, it's funny, because she doesn't have the typical body for that stuff like the MTV and Jenner girls. ;)

Ngl she reminds me of an older punky Brewster!
This may well be the catchiest song of the past 10-years.
Heard this for the first time today in 2023 while waiting for my drink at a Starbucks. As much as I hate that statement, I instantly got caught in the groove and I’m completely glad that it brought me here because this song is a VIBE 🕺🏽

Big same heard it, shazammed it and immediately fell in love with this song ❤❤❤
I heard it today for the first time @ Starbucks in North Carolina. I’m a fan now.
How did this song NOT blow up????
These lyrics are god tier I haven’t felt so entranced by writing since I was an angsty teen listening to the strokes
That's funny. I was just thinking about how much she looks like Casablancas. I have a crush on them both.
This song spent 7 weeks at #1 on our South African indie online music chart in early 2019
That Is so amazing how a region will just pick up a song like that love that
Caroline Rose with brown hair was really pretty
Tears when it came out. Tears in 2024. Real recognize real. Keep going C.R.
I'm 60 years old and heard my sons playing this song. Just so different from everything else. Love the back story too. Caroline Rose is a bit of a genius.
What is the backstory?
I was waiting for my daughter at school and NPR did an interview with Caroline Rose and played her music. I was hooked!
I heard this song last night at Starbucks and immediately liked it. Reminds me a bit of More More More by Andrea True Connection.
Really?! I heard this song at one of the Starbucks as well. Does Starbucks have a universal collection of songs playing all over its stores? haha
Played during a commercial break last night in the chiefs vs dolphins game❤
She was having so much fun making this mv.
My job played this and Shazam came in clutch ever since
First heard this song as an angsty, depressed teen during the pandemic. Now, I’m a college kid aimlessly wandering through Atlanta trying to find a purpose. I can’t keep letting life pass me by. This song is everything to me.

Some musicians you like, some you immediately fall for. Caroline is firmly in the latter teer. Oh and I really like that house.
What a wonderfully quirky and innovative music video. I discovered this song last week and I can. not. stop. listening to it either.

Caroline went to the same college as Hillary Clinton, Wellesley, I just saw...
Same feeling
Grateful to have discovered this gem of a song on my little local radio station, still blast it in my car almost 3 years later 💜

I'm surprised someone didn't roll in with a "tryna get pregnant"
Coolest gas station ever then, all the stations I go to are still playing Kenny G or something.
Touching art for when life feels overwhelming.
Never watch the official video... le sigh. Still love the tune. Cheers.

Pode marcar o Brasil aí na lista então.
