I’m with you Jon, I’m 59 years old, and this truly incredible performance is as powerful and thought provoking as the original performance was all those decades ago when I was a young boy. It was also the first time I’d heard the saxophone played on it’s own and not in a band like Glen miller’s. I now own 3 saxophones and owe it all to hearing “will you”
This is great.. I loved it back in the late 70's early 80's. Yes we had our troubles of the days, but we had youth on our side. Now days youth is wasted on the young.. All they do is what? ..
F in he'll. That sax solo !! The Breaking glass version of 'Will You' has always been on my Desert Island list...but that sax player just absolutely monstered the best sax solo in all of popular music. Outstanding.X
Fantastic...brings back so many great memories it really does...glad I grew up in the eighties so don't have to endure the crap nowadays of No Direction and Little Mix who ever they are!
This is the song, that was playing the night I knew that there was no turn around in my marriage, If I went forward my marriage was over.... I chose that night, and to this day I've never regretted my decision after 20 years I'm still with the man I gave my marriage up for....
One of my most played albums. Can you believe it came out 41 years ago!!!!! My memories of seeing The Eighth Day vid on a saturday morning kids show are still so clear. I went out to buy the single but it wasn't released till the week later. That was a long week. Made my Mam take me to see the movie as it was an AA i think and kids had to be accompanied. I'd say it had a big impression on my musical tastes.
I have been lucky enough to see Hazel many times, along with her two bandmates, Clare always gets a huge cheer and everyone is always waiting for this solo Sax rendition! I've see grown men at Rebellion Punk festival shed a tear at this song! I hope Hazel is slowly recovering from her recent illness and maybe one day we will see her grace a stage once more, but I will always have the memories.
I’ve been a hazel fan for over 40 years I’ve seen her probably over 60 times performing Kirsty is brilliant check her out on live air playing with Bowie
Wow! Goosepimples. Hazel has that limitless ability and combined with the ultimately gifted saxophonist make a partnership in Heaven for future productions. This is a gift so get on and make this happen while you can :)
clare hurst magical exceptional sax solo and sarah fisher its a pity hazel didnt give sarah thanks at the end..... as i think her saying clare's name and not sarah's was wrong. i used to isten to hazel years go with wesley but listening to clare on the sax sends shivers down my spine its that good.
I like how in all the live performances of this I have watched that Hazel walks out of the lime light at the sax solo part. She knows at that point she is no longer relevant to the music. It was rare back then let alone now. It takes confidence to do that.
Not sure Hazel O Connor ever got the recognition she deserved; she was brilliant!!
I think of myself as a rather large, tough guy.... I cried like a baby at this rendition, truly heart-wrenching performance....

Phenomenal song and performance.
This is so amazing, brilliant vocal, one of the best sax solos ever to be heard on any song.
candy dulfer
- sabelmousse - I know she looks good, but can she play 😉🎷❤️
Yes, this and Yakaty Sax are the the only 2 worthy of “amazing sax solo.’
@@marks2731 🤔🤔. Try “Baker Street” Ralph McTell, brilliant sax on that.
Clair Hirst playing sax on this, she was also on Live Aid with David Bowie.
Brought a tear to my eye, this song frames apart of my life that was so important. Music is so powerful.

I went to see hazel at Whitley bay and was blown away. Amazing. She and the others were better then sex. Absolutely stunning set.

I know her
She was with David Bowie during Liveaid!!
Amazing sax ! always my favourite but never knew until now that it was done by a female saxophonist ❤
Hazel is amazing as ever, but Claire steals the show.
Wow! Goosepimples. Hazel has that limitless ability and combined with the ultimately gifted saxophonist make a partnership in Heaven for future productions. This is a gift so get on and make this happen while you can :)

That song is Clare's showcase. Sarah gets her credit elsewhere in the show. It wasn't a one song performance.
