I grew up poor as dirt in the American south in the 1990s. My parents were drunks, I was ostracized at school and I had virtually no close friends. In middle school, my whole week revolved around Saturday night and catching Monstervision. Not only did Joe Bob's wit get me into exploitation movies, it inspired me to become a writer myself. I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for JBB - all I can say is Thank you Joe Bob, for everything.
He was my middle school, too. Right when I started getting into horror flicks. He helped me appreciate them and not be so afraid of them. Part of why I got into horror films was that I was majorly terrified of them, watching with my older brother and sister. It'd sometimes be a week of "can't sleep" worry over Freddy's hand appearing at the edge of the bed or one of my toys trying to kill me, etc. But he poked fun and laughed, and I'm watching an adult experience these movies with me, pretty much, and you reflect. And so they become fun and not so serious, though still being able to appreciate dread and fear that some of the really good ones can induce but without losing your cookies.
This truly was one of the most fun experiences I had in 2018. When it was first announced I was really afraid I would miss it due to work. But at the end of June, we were all unexpectedly laid off for the summer. Unemployment benefits were taking longer than expected, the AC was pumping non-stop in my one bedroom casita, and I couldn't drive anywhere due to saving money for bills. But one of the great bright sides of this was being able to watch The Last Drive In uninterrupted with a pizza, FuFu Berry soda, and cookie dough bites at the ready. I fell asleep to Sorority Babes and woke up to Re-Animator. Not having cable since 2011, it felt like the good old days of waking up at 6 am on a saturday and catching the last minutes of whatever movie was playing on the Sci-Fi channel. I'm so happy this has been renewed for as long as it lasts. It truly is an incredible gift to horror fans.
OMG OMG OMG I have waited 20 years to see JBB back in action!!! You got yourself a subscriber!! And if this becomes a regular show on the channel, i will be a subscriber FOR LIFE!!!
I was shocked at first when Shudder went down because of how popular JBB's comeback was. They were saying it would only be one night, one chance to see him and the movies but Shudder was so swamped by fans it went off line. Very, very grateful they rethought and we can now take our leisure to watch some fantastic choices hosted by my favorite host. Grateful Daughters of Darkness and Rabid and some other classics are included. Hope this is a forerunner of JBB's return.
I think the "last" might be a little sarcastic or something, because he's hinted that there could possibly be more special events like this or a more regular stint depending on how well it does and if fans just make their voices heard that they want more.
I donno. He's getting up there in the years. I just watched the cinemassacre interview and you can tell age is catching up with him, big time. I really hope there's much more to come though.
Cinemassacre needs to make a cameo! In my eyes, they have passed on the torch, to younger people like me(20yo), outside the US, while igniting a new flame of love for movies! They deserve it!
Absolutely disagree xtract. I think he did a great job, has just as much charisma and has been honing his on-screen craft for so many years, that's he's earned it.
ᵗʰᵉNight★Star I've watched nearly all James' movie reviews and I like him, he's just quieter and softer spoken which in my mind doesn't quite leap off the screen like Joe Bob. I'm sure the softer personality is more relatable for many people but it doesn't make it a charismatic personality.
Thank you, Joe Bob, for showing me Razorback, From Beyond, Endangered Species, Motel Hell, Deadly Friend, Ice Cream Man, Sleepstalker: The Sandman's Last Rites & Metalstorm: The Destruction Of Jared Syn Through The Portal Of Time. If not for your show on TNT, I never would have seen any of these. I mean that as a compliment. As you say, the drive in will never die.
24 hours of Joe Bob-hosted horror cinema? Here will be my drive-in totals: 1 pint of bourbon, 12 lite beers, 2 pots of coffee, 3 bags of Doritos, 1 large pizza, 2 breasts (sadly removed by the censors), Caffeine pill fu, Confused wife fu, Nostalgia fu. Four stars. Can't wait.
I am excited for this but would love for this to become a regular show. if you cant bring back Tales From The Crypt bring back Joe Bob Briggs for good.
you can check by going to shudder, com and if the site works it should be ok but i live in the Netherlands and when i go to that site it says : We are not yet available in your country. so i am afraid that it wont work for Germany as well
The log in link on Shudder isn't working. It's constantly showing their "Gremlins at work" message, and refreshing the browser window doesn't do anything.
Hey! I'm in France and I'm dying to watch these and the last drive-in episodes. But no shudder in my country!! Is there any way I can watch this, other than getting a VPN? Thanks
I'm guessing October 31. Shudder @shudder Jul 20 Due to overwhelming demand, we’re bringing @therealjoebob back later this year! Stay tuned for details - the drive in will never die!”
Tried watching this on both my Roku device and mobile starting at 9 last night, both did not work. Checked Shudder’s Twitter page soon after, and it was posted the server had crashed. Got up this morning to attempt both again, still nothing. Then I tried playing it on my laptop, now it’s working. Meh on Shudder. Anyone have a list of what movies he’s shown since last night? I know Tourist Trap kicked it off.
I'm gonna regret this for the rest of my life because we never had TNT to watch MonsterVision here in Latin America and now I can't watch the Last Drive In because Shudder is not available in Mexico... DANG IT!!!
Shudder’s live streaming feed sucks. I was able to get through one movie. While streaming Daughters of Darkness halfway it glitches up. After refreshing on my laptop it’s now streaming Blood Feast instead. WTF.

He's not only an excellent writer and TV personality, he also seems to be a genuinely decent guy
ThisMayOrMayNotBeSatire Epic
Amen brother.
ThisMayOrMayNotBeSatire hell yes !
He was my middle school, too. Right when I started getting into horror flicks. He helped me appreciate them and not be so afraid of them. I do not exaggerate when I say this is the thing that will finally get me to subscribe to Shudder.
FOR REAL! They make this a thing and im all in!
you mean i can watch it legal for free? even from outside the U.S.?
This needs to be a weekly show. By-weekly, whatever, as long as it's a somewhat regular thing. I would subscribe immediately.
Smiler, how is it done?
OK, figured it out. It should be at shudder.com/shudder-tv
I bonded with my Dad watching Monstervision every Saturday night. It is where my love for horror originates. I am so excited for this!
I think I've watched this like 10 times. I got those feels of watching Monstervision in the 90's and I can't wait!
This truly was one of the most fun experiences I had in 2018. When it was first announced I was really afraid I would miss it due to work. This is literally the best thing ever....it needs a wider release.
I am so stoked about this!! I could just cry it makes me so happy. Thank you for doing this for us. We ❤️ you Joe Bob.
Definetly getting Shudder ! This is something I've been waiting year's for !
Yes!! Thank you thank you thank you!!! I have been waiting 20+ years for this!
Thanks Shudder. I “preciate” this. Gonna be a subscriber for a long time.
I was shocked at first when Shudder went down because of how popular JBB's comeback was. I'm so excited. Can't believe there's gonna be a new MonsterVision.
"If you miss this, you're gonna always regret it."
**everyone misses it, even though they were sitting right there ready for it**
The nostalgia of this is so intense. Why would it be your last time? Please come back again and again like Jason Voorhees!
I hope so. Joe Bob on Shudder weekly would get me to sub to it.
I HOPE YOURE RIGHT!!
I love when he goes off topic and these random rants, guy is entertaining as hell.
almost 5 years later, Still glad Joe bob is back in town. The Drive in will never die
Joe Bob is the king of the drive in
Ill be their ...waited years for this
Cinemassacre needs to make a cameo! In my eyes, they have passed on the torch, to younger people like me(20yo), outside the US, while igniting a new flame of love for movies! They deserve it!
James Rolfe would be perfect as a horror host or even a pass of the torch replacement for Monstervision of JBB ever retires for good!
I think Joe Bob was interviewed by James same day cause he wore that shirt I just realised to the interview.
James Rolfe is a bit too awkward to fill Joe Bob's shoes. Good example is his recent interview with Joe Bob. The charisma isn't on par
Absolutely disagree xtract. I think he did a great job, has just as much charisma and has been honing his on-screen craft for so many years, that's he's earned it.

I wish I had Shudder to watch this.
Hell yeah can't wait!!
Can't wait!
Definitely getting in on this! Can't wait!
Thank you Shudder. NOW, we want MORE.
Awesome, good too see ya back.

You the man Joe Bob.
It's gonna be sad that this will be the last one but it's good to see one more drive in
Maybe if enough people get the word out it'll be a success and tempt JBB into doing more.
I cannot wait.
Yessssss!! Love it!
Four stars. Can't wait.
I want to watch all of it but I'm busy the whole time. Please tell me it'll be available to watch later.
Holy Cow. MY CHILDHOOD!!!!!!! Back when Cable TV was meaningful!!!

Joe Bob is my hero. I hope there's a chance to watch this in Germany.
There's a stream at the Shudder website so it shouldn't be a problem.
you can check by going to shudder, com and if the site works it should be ok but i live in the Netherlands and when i go to that site it says : We are not yet available in your country. so i am afraid that it wont work for Germany as well
It does not work in Sweden either.
Try using a VPN-Server, use a server whit a good bandwith in a country where shudder

Will this be available to stream later. ? Some of us gotta work !
Thanks

Shudder @shudder Jul 20
Due to overwhelming demand, we’re bringing @therealjoebob back later this year! Stay tuned for details - the drive in will never die!”
Will there be an archive of this available? I want to watch all 24 hours!
Joe Bob is back, alright!
Not living in a country that streams this. Curses. CURSES!
Ardvarking!!!
*We are not yet available in your country*
Yes! It's a date Joe Bob!
How can I watch this online?
for about $5 you can get a month of Shudder at Amazon
Unfortunately, this will only be able to subscribers and apparently won't be carried on the free live stream anybody can view on the website.
Hell to the yeah
Oh fuck yes! 👍
If the damn site will work
I'm gonna regret this for the rest of my life because we never had TNT to watch MonsterVision here in Latin America and now I can't watch the Last Drive In because Shudder is not available in Mexico... DANG IT!!!
Is this the same set from monstervision on TNT?
Shudder’s live streaming feed sucks. I was able to get through one movie. While streaming Daughters of Darkness halfway it glitches up. After refreshing on my laptop it’s now streaming Blood Feast instead. WTF.
Would have been an awesome Friday The 13th if Shudder had been up to the task.
Shit! I already always regret it! How did I miss this!!?
Will it be streaming on youtube?
yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
get AVGN as guest please Bo Bo Rodriguez 😁😂🤣
