I am a former Green Party activist (2003-2014), but was part of the left-wing exodus from the party when the Greens first controlled Brighton & Hove Council (2011-2015) and spent their time attacking low-paid council employees, causing three years of on-off strikes.
I got a very strong impression very soon after Starmer was elected to the Leadership position that he had been given the task of killing the Party which voted in a Leader who supported Palestinian rights. This impression has never faded.

I suggest every OAP who thinks they are eligible attend their MPs office & request assistance, get them to help with the form filling, get them to contact DWP etc.
They will just close their offices ,or say they require more money torun their offices ,lack of accessability to apply for any benefit is deliberate govt policy ,big brother is not coming ,it is here!!!!!!

It's not right, it's a horrible decision this government has made. I really feel for those pensioners who have lost their winter fuel payment. I am 60 not a pensioner yet, but when winter comes around I put my heating on for one hour in the morning, and one hour at night. The rest of the time I just put warm jumpers on to kerp me warm, no one should have to do this 2024.

Like a great many other pensioners I am slightly over the pension credit qualification limit so will lose my much needed wfp.. In my case slightly over is a matter of £34 pounds only
I know several in the same situation, one is only pennies over the qualification. Some have suggested taking out a small loan or mortgage for a home improvement to enable them to get the pension credit which helps with much more than only WFA. That's how desperate people have become.
I am over it, because I have full pension, and a small pension of just over £300 a month, which I pay abo5£40 a month tax on. This pension doesn't cover my rent, so I have to claim housing benefit. My private pension is of no benefit to me, as it reduces my housing benefit. Now I lose my winter fuel allowance because housing benefit isn't a qualifying benefit even though it's means tested.
This mattered more before the Election, As we see, the 'protesting' MPs largely abstained. The Left has already largely being eradicated.... Skinner's gone, Jeremy is an independent, Williamson's gone..... How many are left? Burgon, Zarah from Coventry..... I think whats going on here is that in Keir Starmer’s mind pensioners are not productive in the economy (he is mistaken on this) and have no power to resist (they cant go on strike) and I think his idea is to put money where people are productive by taking it from where they are powerless and in his mind economically unproductive. As far as I've heard the government just don't want you to get pension credit or any of the benfits that append to it's payment. Is there a way that we can post a list of names of the pensioners who die from this online? Or a newspaper that would publish this? That £20,000 is a crazy use of public money but has anyone stopped and asked themselves how the NHS can justify such a costing?

The government doesn't feel 'bad' about this; they simply secretly believe they've been wrongfooted. Their principles are non-existent. Trying to create fear in the working classes: so true! The quantitative easing question would depend on whether the creditors of the National Debt are owed that money calculated in dollars or not, surely. But this guy makes such a good general critique but he cannot claim that Starmer's lot are right-wing - they're not, they're just vindictive.
