The Coptic Church is one of the oldest Christian congregations, established by Mark the Evangelist in AD 43. At the wedding, the choir leader will instruct the groom to take good care of and protect his wife. The bridegroom’s godfather is the guest at the wedding. His duty is to assist the bride and groom in wearing golden crowns, symbolizing the union of love. After wearing the crown, the newlyweds circled the altar three times.
