I'm glad to see how Dew grew up so much and handled his talk set maturely and profesh! Great episode, keep it coming, and all the best! Call the show 'In Dew time'
Dew. Respect. Your evolution is very inspiring ⚡️ Dee. Respect! Your honesty & courage to fully face and talk about it sets a good example on how to deal with difficult & complex issues. What I took from this episode : The amazing tenacity of both of these 2 Dees. Look from where they come from, and just look at how they choose to continuously rise when challenges comes ⚡️
Agree with Dew about leaving toxic bosses is a personal choice. However, NOC was run by 2 bosses and that might have played a part in some staff choosing to remain?
Dew literally said (and I paraphrase) even the Malays didn't reply to his emails even though they were keen initially. So it really isn't our world or their world. Have you considered maybe they asked around (that's how referral works) about your personal life (since they know your name now) when you were younger and decided not to proceed? And when you changed your name, no one have any clue who you were and decided to give you a chance?
Utter nonsense, this is not malayland, Chineseland or whatever land.. this is Singapore a home /country for all its citizen. Makes me boil hearing nonsense like this
@@cdang8742 Why do u feel triggered? It is a fact and it’s ingrained in history. This is in fact within the malay archipelago. Sure by constitution Singapore is now a shared country to all citizens, regardless of race or ethnicity, but you can’t change history. And the history, the fact, is that this was a malay land. I don’t know why this fact would boil your blood or whatever, but facts don’t care about feelings.
Disagree on the 'just quit' your bad boss thing. IMO, you do have a moral obligation to warn others against toxic bosses. And learned helplessness breeds apathy, and with apathy there can NEVER be change.
My PERSONAL experience with racism in Singapore is that minorities think that ONLY they are on the receiving end, and that the majority could not possibly have experienced racism in Singapore at all, which is uttely false. Case in point, the recent Tampines RTA, rip to the victims. Before the name of the offending driver was published in the news, so many comments on socmed from minorities insinuating that the offending driver must be a "protected species", "if the driver was a minority the name will be plastered all over the news already" blah blah blah. But once the identity of the offending driver is known to be a minority, all those commenters become meek, suddenly all keep quiet.
I think my first video of DeeKosh was also when he was slimmer with glasses, and he talked about something like Singaporeans don’t know how to grind in the club, and he showed example of how to grind. If anyone remember, can confirm if this was accurate😂 mann that was long back!
very relatable how some things back then seemed normal / ok but in future we realised it was bullying. I think it goes the same to what you said Dew bout some things we say and right after we're like, wait shit is that bullying? I think the things I learnt from these experiences is that we're humans, we go through our own stories and most importantly when people go through racism, we should listen and see what can be fixed rather than saying "nah there's no racism in singapore" just because we don't face it. Great episode guys!
When Dee mentioned Jojo Silva, I remembered years ago when I first came across NOC, back then the channel name was Ryan Sylvia, I misread the channel name as Ryan Silva and I thought Dee was Ryan Silva and the boss of the channel 😂 It only hit me many years later that it was Ryan Sylvia* 😅
Racism is real in Singapore. But its not seen as an issue to the youth because friends used racist jokes to make fun of each other, which normalizes the use of it or a way to justify it. "Eh pundak" "Eh apek cine" "Eh bawak blok nye budak" How are we Singaporeans going to stop racism when WE ourselves normalize part of it as a joke?
Dee Kosh, know it has not been easy lately but stay strong! At the end of the day, am sure you had positive learnings that you can take moving forward. Dee, just my honest opinion, you're better than Sonia in radio.
When dew said “black dog, brown dog” i felt it. Went through the same. The problem? I was just one shade darker than typical chinese. The chinese dude who started was darker than me😂😂😂. For me, never saw it as a problem until i banter back with chinese racism, they all couldnt take it n start becoming violent.
I make fun of my friends no matter their race but if I want to joke about something, I must make sure I can take it too when they make it joke about me. I also very tanned for a Chinese 😂
Lol you can’t say he was bullying without reading the book! It’s only after you’ve read the book that you’d appreciate how they thought it was stupid and fair game for ridicule
That's exactly the point though. It's like saying, "omg the moment you talk to that person you'll realize how stupid he is..." Doesn't make the person fair game for negative vitality I think. I would assume the definition of social bullying would be to pick on someone who didn't do anything to you, or deserve it, really.
as far as i feel and think, it's the personality and the individual character that round up the racism, if you have good mannerism and higher chance they like you for who u are not the race itself. thats just my opinion.
Even as a Chinese person. I know it is so real. I hear many times the Chinese say it because they are Malay or Indian that's why they are not selected or chosen. I feel bad. However, many times bosses made the decisions. 😢
my colleague told me once her boss told her she only hired her cause she's chinese eventhough the other applicant (malay) had better credentials and experience.
dont make a big deal of changing your name to allow other people to remember/pronounce it better... lots of celebrities do it irregardless of race... i come up with an English name because my Chinese name was too hard for my malay/indian friends as well.
Exactly. He has also conveniently left out his lifestyle during his younger days. Perhaps that was the reason why even Malays didn't want to respond to his emails despite being keen initially?
Just Dew it. That should be the title of your show HAHAHA. JDI, tak jedi, just dew it.
Dew really won me over with his maturity and class. Very unlike other online personalities
And by that most just like to be messy and thrive on drama
I'm glad to see how Dew grew up so much and handled his talk set maturely and profesh! Great episode, keep it coming, and all the best! Call the show 'In Dew time'
Inviting Jonathan Chua from grvty will be FIRE. OOPS
Nah..

This segment can be ‘You DEW you’ 😂
The collab we've been waiting for

I suddenly feel so much more relatable to dew from this episode. Code switching identities is only the surface
Agree with Dew about leaving toxic bosses is a personal choice. However, NOC was run by 2 bosses and that might have played a part in some staff choosing to remain?
I like how honest this whole conversation is
Love it when you said: “while this is a Malay land, but you’re living in their world.”
Exactly, summed it up so well.
Dew literally said (and I paraphrase) even the Malays didn't reply to his emails even though they were keen initially. So it really isn't our world or their world.
Have you considered maybe they asked around (that's how referral works) about your personal life (since they know your name now) when you were younger and decided not to proceed?

Utter nonsense, this is not malayland, Chineseland or whatever land.. this is Singapore a home /country for all its citizen. Makes me boil hearing nonsense like this
We were colonised by the British, we gained independence together. Singapore did not achieve independence through any one race alone.

thanks for talking about racism which many chinese people dont see everyday or understand, great content
Even worst they deny that racism exists in Singapore against the minorities claiming it is a multi-racial country.

Honestly such a great interview. Really glad to chance upon a snippet on TikTok.
Dee Kosh is the ONLY one who is actually close to NOC and dare to say that Ryan Planned the saga
I think my first video of DeeKosh was also when he was slimmer with glasses, and he talked about something like Singaporeans don’t know how to grind in the club, and he showed example of how to grind. If anyone remember, can confirm if this was accurate😂 mann that was long back!

Racism is real in Singapore. But its not seen as an issue to the youth because friends used racist jokes to make fun of each other, which normalizes the use of it or a way to justify it.

without the "My fake accent and my annoying eyebrows." he is well spoken and humble
